Jessica Vosk sings "Defying Gravity" & "For Good" with Kristin Chenoweth from Wicked at Carnegie Hall. She invited the audience to film this number. Filmed & edited by Shoshana / @bwaySHO - bwaySHO.com 11/08/2021
I just love how Kristin always gets emotional singing this song even after all those years. Like she's just genuinely so grateful for everything the show has brought to her life! It's very touching to witness! Such an amazing performer and a pure soul! 🤍
I had the opportunity to sing with backup with Kristin a few years back. They surprised the audience (and even us during rehearsal) when Stephen Schwartz showed up. The two of them sang For Good and it was unbelievable. She was tearing up thinking of her journey through life and how much this show changed her life.
Kristin has to deliver her part with powerhouse voices like this one and Idina Menzel. That she holds character and matches vocal strength speaks well of her immense talent!
4:45 Kristin getting so choked up over that line has me BAWLING! 😭 Jessica was truly speaking from her heart when she sang those words and you can see it touched Kristin deeply… UGH I just love this performance!
I never had the privilege of seeing the original Broadway cast, however I was fortunate enough to see Jessica Vosk twice as Elphaba! She is an amazing talent!! I feel blessed to have seen her perform.
I've seen wicked 2 times in Chicago. It was about time that Kristin and Jessica came together to sing for good. I hope that wicked could make it to 20 years.
Oh my god!! I did not know I needed this in my life!! Two of my favorite singers!! Jessica is everything!! And I can’t wait to see a live show!! I saw her in Joseph at the Muny, but I’m dying to see one of her concerts!
Generally speaking, she absolutely does, which is why it drives me absolutely crazy when she hangs on the wrong part of the diphthong on an I vowel. She doesn't do it here, but she does it often in other performances. For example, in Safer from First Date, the word "fly" becomes flah-eeeeeeee. Her placement is always SO good that it stands out like a sore thumb.
@@aionlover3981 placement and tone are 2 different things. Placement can be, and is taught/learned. Yes, there is a genetic/natural component to tone, but training is also a huge factor.
They seriously need to bring her back for another run on Broadway for Wicked.. She is now and most likely will always be the best Elphaba to ever hit that stage!! So sad I could not attend this sold out showcase at Carnegie Hall 😭😭 JessicaVosk is a vocal LEGEND!!!
@@SuperPianogirl123 Yeah, she got in a lot of trouble from the vocal choices and riffs she did throughout her run as Elphaba. Imo she is the best Elphaba, had like little to no vocal damage singing the songs and her belts were probably the most clearest I’ve ever heard.
God Jessica is a straight up goddess and singing with KC was absolutely incredible. They must have rehearsed this but even so, it’s like they were cast mates or something when that isn’t true. Would’ve killed to see “Wicked” with Jessica Vosk as Elphie and Kristen as Glinda.
The little piece at the end where you can see Kristin telling Jessica to take the first bow shows just how classy she is. She's older, more famous, has more money, more professional connections, and decided instead to use her position of power to give Jessica the credit. Status has NOT gotten to her head!
She came in to eat at a restaurant I worked at and everyone was so blown away by how incredibly kind and down to earth the was! Some of our staff didn't know who she was and I kind of went on a gushing talk about how amazing she was! You would have no clue she was famous though she was such a sweetheart!
OMG!!! Thank you for sharing this!!! I'm in tears literally this performance spoke to me thank you!! To whoever uploaded this video and to Jessica Vosk and Kristen Chenoweth just true astonishing talent people i wanna THANK YOU FOR THAT PERFORMANCE
Wowee Jessica really has almost like an Alanis Morissette / Musical Theatre hybrid voice How incredible - she shoots those notes out like a goddamn rocket launcher and how magical is Kristen just walking out there sending everyone into a homosexual frenzied GASP people throw icon around a lot but Kristen really is just THAT AND not to mention the song.... "For Good".... Timeless writing- almost like a Dolly Parton or Whitney Houston ballad. Makes you cry, yearn, ponder.. how do they not cry singing this?
At 1:31, did anyone else notice that she signaled the orchestra to speed up in a VERY subtle way? I've seen my jazz singer friend signal the sound engineer when she needs more of a particular level. And if you listen carefully to the percussion, they do speed up just a bit. Thought that was cool.
My god Jessica Vosk's voice makes my hair stand on end! The power, the emotion, just incredible. Whoever gets to wake up to her singing is a very, very lucky person😍
Of course & so glad you could take in the moment!! I saw her tweet earlier that there would be something we could film late in the performance, so I was ready to go when she said it. Still had to make sure to take in the moment because my goodness!!!
not me crying at how beaitiful this is! So happy for jessica!! she really risked it all for this business and this is like us saying you made it girl, and we love you!!!
THIS WOMEN MADE MY BIRTHDAY SO HAPPY SHE DESERVES SO MUCH FAM 😭😭😭😭😭 She even deserves to be with Christian Her witch acting made it even cooler I am so HOPING she is in the Wicked Movie
I think Kristin is a goddess, but I cringe every time she sings "pashes the sun" instead of passes the sun. Couldn't someone gently mention it to her? I can only guess it's her Oklahoma roots coming out. Other than that, she is perfection!
@Trent Gentry I guess, but I don't think she did it that way in Wicked. I think it's her inner Dolly Parton coming out now, for some reason. If you listen to a clip from the show, she does appear to know how to pronounce the word "passes," but somehow has now forgotten! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2fR4JotwwWo.html
