The lore I can imagine for this role is the Jester is an Impostor who's opted for a different approach. They either not too keen on killing people directly or are opting for an all in approach that kills everyone on-board. Bombs are planted on the ship. They are tied to a heartrate monitor linked to the Jester. Once that flatlines, the ship goes boom. Everyone dies. The end. This approach is either so they don't need to kill directly or because they love their share of chaos and just want to go all in and want a huge explosion to follow their demise. Also, their presence is bound to make everyone a little more cautious on who they vote out, making it less likely for their impostor buddy to get ejected.
