Yesssss!!! OMG! I’ve been thinking that too. Like I find myself getting so worried for the apostles and Jesus, especially when the leaders tried to stone them. But then I’m like “Wait a minute…I know this story. I know this story like the back of my hand…I know these guys are going to be fine!” I think it speaks volumes to the crew and cast when you forget for a minute that you know what’s coming. And I think it’s an indication as to what we’ll be like when the Passion and Resurrection come.
These actors are amazing, it really captivates you ❤ All other Jesus movies are so monotone, these guys bring Jesus and the apostles to real life. I feel like I know them all now and that's so wonderful to me. ❤❤❤
As an old man, learned that no matter what happens, how cruel it seems and unfathomable by humans, Christ asks you hang in there and trust Him. In our minds, we want to ascertain God's meaning, and perhaps we can to a point, but then our inability stops us. And then Faith has to help us thru. Can't thank The Chosen enough for what it's done for humanity-especially now. Bless all of ya'll.
I noticed on The Chosen S4E6 tonight that Judas is wanting to "help" Jesus so badly, so much that he seems out of sync with the rest of the group, spends time alone instead of with the others, doesn't understand them when they try to explain stuff to him and so seems to feel like an outsider. He is worrying about helping God out. I did that for a long time too. Until just recently, I realized, God doesn't need my help. He knows exactly what He's doing and knows exactly how to accomplish it. He doesn't need Judas to help him get more money, because God owns everything (the cattle on a thousand hills are mine, says the Lord) and is in control of everything. What God needs from us is something totally different than what most people think, and I finally got it.
Jesus really only did what the Father said so Jesus must go back in the right time to destroy sin and die for sin nature of man and show he is the Son of God.
@surrenderdaily333 Yes... and does it not seem plausible that Judas is worried and gets more worried the more times that Jesus carries on where he is always battling with the Jewish Leadership. I am sure that Judas is getting to the point that he wishes Jesus would quite contending with the Jewish Leadership. He seems to always be right in the middle of it. Judas is fearing for life of Jesus. Now imagine that the Leadership says to Judas... Can you get us a private meeting with Jesus... we need to speak with him. We need to let him know that if he keeps up what he is doing... there are those that will kill him. And then Judas decides to arrange that meeting but then is betrayed and finds out they are the ones that want Jesus. So then the money they gave means nothing because he has been betrayed. And then finding out they have him to kill him... he commits suicide.
Before juda turn Jesus in, he know he had to push Jesus to free all the Jews. Just not really understand that this is not his kingdom but came to ownly give sins a right to see his father in heaven. Jesus be their lord and God will be and teach them as his children of him above.that how I see it.
@@craigbenjamin196 Judas did not understand the mission of the Messiah. Non of them did. Does anyone realize that had Judas not done what he did... there would not have been a crucifixion and Jesus would not have died for mankind. It was all part of God's plan. Jesus knew exactly how he was going to die. He knew everything. And everything was going according to plan.... and everything did go according to the plan.
i love how the jews were arguing and missed Jesus leave, kind of symbolizes how they missed the Christ they were waiting for because how they bicker over the law
Remember when Peter and James and John were in the room together privately discussing why Jesus didn’t raise Ramah and one of them said, “Maybe He was unable to bring her back from the dead…” So there was STILL doubt in their hearts. Jesus needed to make sure they understood that Lazarus was REALLY dead by letting 4 days pass so when Jesus raised him, their doubt was removed. This wasn’t about Jesus raising Lazarus because they were good friends. It was about removing the doubt within the disciples hearts. Jesus didn’t just flit from town to town performing miracles like a circus act. There was a particular reason Jesus was trying to establish with every miracle that He performed.
@@kndy6146 John 11:14 is the biblical explanation, the basis of Jesus' reason for raising Lazarus; John 11:35, Jesus weeps because this is the point of no return; John 11:42 is the confirmation of Jesus' raising of Lazarus. God bless you.
@@kndy6146There was NO RAmah!! It’s a made up story by the writers of The Chosen. She’s nowhere in the Bible or otherwise. The writers explained they made her up for the sake of connecting the story of Jesus in a different way.
I DID TOO!!! That was such a nice touch! I’m not sure if that was Jonathan or Dallas or whoever, but that was an amazing detail! I remember in the theater when I saw it, I was like “GO, JESUS!!”
A piece people miss regarding where the Pharisees got the stones is where, as the camera follows Jesus and the disciples on the porch of Solomon, it pans across a group of construction workers that are engaged in their work, and the cart containing the stones is visible, so the viewer can see where the stones will come from. That were stolen from the construction site…
As Christians we hear the same question over and over. “If there is such a glorious God, then why does he allow such suffering?” The Chosen continues to offer great responses that we should administer.
We’re getting to the why over time. This is meant to be the darkest parts of the story. Season 7 will bring the love light and hope of what we live in today.
Brandon, I am in hospital at the moment so I haven’t watched episodes 6and7 yet. I always listen to your explanation for each episode and certain scenes. It makes me understand it better when I do watch. I’m just watching this now and Oh my heart 😢, it’s just so hard to see how Jesus was treated at the temple by so many. I’m so distraught for him , I ask “ Why? “ did they treat him so badly. It’s breaking my heart to see what they did to him. I don’t know if I would ever be able to watch what is to come, I can’t even bring myself to say the words. But I do thank you so so much for your insight into all the things that you have explained to us. God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Mary asking why it hurts inside and showing her how she pays attention to things...it's like they are building up her story to the resurrection day where she's the first one to see Jesus after he resurrected...just like they do with every character in the chosen...like for instance Thomas and Judas...their stories are so good .....what led to their actions...why did Thomas doubt...why did Judas steal ..all this makes sense now ...
She was the first at the grave, she wasn’t necessarily the first to see Him (where was He that He wasn’t at the tomb? Hint: who didn’t go to the tomb?).
I agree that it is important to get the timeline right because many people who refuse to read the Bible will watch the Chosen for entertainment reasons and will misunderstand what happened. Also, people who do read the Bible will become confused when the Chosen contradicts what the Bible says. Other than that, I think the Chosen is very well done and I can see where they strive to be authentic. Other discrepancies come down to interpretive issues. Some creative license is taken for the sake of dramatic effect. This happens in every on-screen portrayal of a book, any book.
Thomas gets a bad wrap as being "Doubting Thomas." But also, all the other apostles refused to believe the women when they saw the resurrected Christ. They all doubted too.
@@bobbiemurray3354 ik, i was talking about him not doubting once he seen the resurrected Jesus,he’s known for doubting so much it’s in his name (nickname)
I’m in agreement with you for John 11 v16. I think Thomas is talking about going with JESUS to die with him. I think this makes more sense to me. GOD bless you my brother Brandon. I love listening to your commentaries as you even guide thru scripture. Shalom Shalom 🙌🏽🙏🏾
I haven't seen the full season so far, but I feel like this episode helped give me a theory as to Judas' 'why' for the betrayal, at least in the Chosen. So far, i'm starting to believe he will trade Jesus in because he thinks Jesus will fight back and show His power. Which, TECHNICALLY He does, but not the way Judas thought and thus his what I would think quick decision to send himself back to the player select menu...
I don't think so. The Christ was very clear about Judas character and motives. The poor betrayer is in hell as he despaired and killed himself. The Lord said it would have been better that he had not been born. So let's not assign any good he may have had in mind by his betrayal. The devil entered him, just as scripture said. I can't read any good intentions into that. Son of perdition. Who said that?
I did not take it that Thomas was talking about Laz and dying with him. The disciples had just said if we go back we might die - be stoned again. So I think Thomas was referencing those comments when he said yes let’s go and die with Jesus.
In the show for sure it seems like he’s talking specifically about Lazarus. I believe Dallas mentioned this as well. In episode 7 we’ll see more of this.
Thanks for your perspective. I had always interpreted Thomas 's statement of dying with him meaning with Lazarus. But it makes so much more sense to be referring to dying with Jesus. I now understand why timeline is important. Your perspective of mixing up Christmas at the time of Halloween or Thanksgiving helps me to understand why getting the timeline correct is important. Thank you for spelling that out for all of us. I'm sure I'm not the only one that needed to hear that.
I like your interpretation of Jesus putting the pottery together. I also saw it as a reference to the breaking of the bread at the Last Supper. There is a cup on the table at his side before they focus on his putting the pottery together. Just such a moving scene!!
Thomas became extremely depressed and hurt because of Christ death and the Cross and being buried .... Therefore, he carried some great doubt .... I personally don't like the added story of Thomas losing his fiancé and being upset about it.... Thomas was always passionate just as much as Peter to be by Christs side no matter what in these Biblical moments
Two fun facts: 1 is that the two pharisees in the beginning who go and get everyone else, unless I'm wrong about this, are the two Pharisees who Atticus talked to in season 3, who were threatening to bring him before Caiaphias until he tried to defile the sacred ground by spitting on it. So pretty much, we know all 5 of the religious leaders who initiate the stoning which is interesting. 2, and this was what confused me when i saw episode 7, but you can see that when Peter and Simon Z are holding back the Pharisees and Saducee's, Little James of all people is helping to hold them back as well. Gedarah is a lot shorter than the rest of them, just like little James so he's pushing gedarah back at 27:54
You are right about that part of dying with Jesus and not with Lazarus. John 11:16 NLT Thomas, nicknamed the Twin, said to his fellow disciples: “Let’s go, too-and die with Jesus.” Also, in the KJV, the word "Him" is with a capitol letter, which shows that he is taking about Jesus and not Lazarus.
"I and The Father are one!" Definitely speaking Triune God to me, 3 different persons in ONE essence, God. Glory to the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
@@ENDTIME_GENERATION Correct. While Jesus was praying to his God and Father he asked his God this at John 17:20-22 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one” So then, we see that being “one” either means that Jesus and his God Jehovah are two separate beings who are united in purpose… or all his followers are God with him and his God. I think the state of being “one” is made pretty clear here.
@@jamesajiduah2001you have to understand things from a Hebraic mindset. Adonai declares the end from the beginning. Yeshua was in the mind and plan of Adonai before the foundations of the world because the Father knew man would fall and would need a redeemer, His only Son.
He listens but he can not hear everything, details , because he has other voices , they are attacking his masters voice , so instead of trusting his master , he seeks to defend him, to become the Shephard rather then the sheep. It js common for a robber to have a partner, one distracts and while he is chased, the other robs the house or person. We have many robbers, satan, demons, other people, then the worst one, ourselves.
Great video much love and many prayers for you and yours and all of Israel for supernatural protection peace and joy beyond understanding I humbly pray in the only way Yeshua the Christ from Nazareth
When Jesus and the disciples enter Solomon's porch, you can see some workers working with stones there. That's where they take the stones to throw at Jesus.
No. The stoning was done with stones from the ground not from stones to build or repair the temple of God 😮the mob would take the person out and pick up rocks on the way to the place of execution 😮i mean illegal lynching 😢
I think that Thomas is being critical of Jesus in this moment and his depression is getting the better of him. He wants the suffering to end as he states with Peter. He's hoping that'll happen with Jesus, or he just doesn't care if it does. Thus, at least imo, he's saying "Let us go, because Jesus will die and we will therefore die too." This is Thomas hoping that his suffering will be finished.
I didn’t catch this in theaters. They showed some construction workers right as Jonathan enters the pillared corridor. I think The Chosen works in the rocks from this.
I find it interesting that in the earlier seasons when Jesus would preach and there were some Pharisees it was treated more like he was zinging them. Simon even states, that he loves it when He “gets them” almost as much as when He sees His miracles. Now his sermons are causing PTSD on his apostles, and getting some of them knocked out. A real ramping up.
I understand that Jesus is referring to Lazarus as sleeping when he is really dead, but why did he plainly tell the disciples Lazarus’ sickness would not lead to death, did he lie to them? Thanks @thechosensleuth
@gerretliam No. He didn’t lie to them. He was telling them that this wasn’t the END to Lazarus’s life. The disciples, except for Peter, James & John, hadn’t witnessed a resurrection.
Yes, I saw that! Guess it is difficult to get the stones to go where you want them in the midst of a melee. He had the packet of blood in his hand and it was ready to go so that is where he got hit, regardless of where the stone went.
YES!!! I thought I was the only one and Brandon would have noticed, but he didn't say. I guess there were more important things to discuss. Plus, pointing out every little flaw doesn't help paint the show in a good light. We're all human and we make mistakes. Thank God for His grace, yes? Amen
Jesus is God in Human form. A lot of verses in the bible Jesus is pertaining to be God. You just have to understand it. He is a Human at the same time God. You can't comprehend it in human understanding but nothing is impossible with God. I mean the omnipotent God. The creator outside of time and space. Jesus is God in human form.
To all those who are saying in the comments that Jesus is not God. Listen again to this vid at approximately 23 minutes. You will then have no excuse on judgment day. Jesus is Lord, God is three persons, blessed trinity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit; one God there is no other.
I hope and pray in Season 5 they do not continue with Thomas grieving for Ramah as Ramah is not biblical….It is a mistake to continue this grieving it takes much away as Thomas the Apostle .
You say that in the line "to die with him", Thomas was referring to Jesus (in your traditional interpretation) vs. what you believe the Chosen people mean (to die with Lazarus). I think it could be understood both ways. Look, the apostles are all scared that if Jesus goes back out that he will die. Well, maybe THAT is what Thomas was referring to. "him" is an indefinite pronoun in this case.
Even calling Himself The Good Shepherd was significant because in the Scriptures the term shepherd was always used as a metaphor for God. The Lord is my shepherd for instance.
what is funny in a sad way is many women certianly in the O. T / Torah were gentile such as Ruth, she adopted her mother in law s people and God but she was not born into it, one example of many , yet they were held in good regard so their HORROR of gentiles entering the fold is very very sad. That alone is reason enough to call them hipercrites
I think you misread Thomas' remarks. I don't understand him to mean but because Bethany being so close to Jerusalem and being in Judea, he implicitly understands going back to Judea as a death sentence.
I feel pretty bad about what they are doing with Thomas. He basically has two major lines in all the gospels. One where he is doubting Thomas, and the second one is this line about dying with Jesus. They kind of balance his doubting side, with his faith side. But here this is just him being cynical. So Thomas is only going to have a cynical line, and a doubting side… not a big fan of this interpretation personally.
Also in the gospels, Thomas declaring, "my Lord and my God" is a significant utterance. But folks here must remember the Chosen's storyline concerning Thomas & Ramah (and Peter losing a child) is fictitious; they're losing sight of the truth that none of this ever happened or was in the slightest way recorded as happening, and it's negatively influencing their views of Yeshua.
I remembered your videos when you were on set and I was actually looking for you! There was SO much going on that I missed you. So glad you were able to find yourself and show us. That's cool!
Well in the scriptures by this point he had done miracles in front of all of them basically. Here in this moment you’re right, for the chosen’s version none of them had seen him do anything apart from the guy who went with shmuel and yanni to the feeding of the 5,000. I’m sure he heard a ton of testimony about Jesus, but ignored the evidence all around him.
But I loved it! It’s getting down to the main thing. Kinda nervous even if we now what the outcome is going to be. But the actors and writers doing their thing
The door of Humility,we can’t otherwise listen to His voice and enter Heaven. The pride that we all human beings have can’t stop us from listening to His voice and fallow Him.
At this time, there was also a stone quarry north west of the known area of the ancient walls outside of Jerusalem called Arimethia. This area has been called may be where Yussif"s family's stone quarry was! I research this stuff & I read this somewhere, after there was first speculation that Yussif could be THE Joseph of Arimathia!
I don't agree with the actual stoning, but based on the scripture below, it is a viable interpretation of scripture per the passage below. Scripture does not explicitly state whether stones were actually thrown nor how He escaped. The show, however, does capture the rage of those who sought to kill Him. 31¶Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33¶The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34¶Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. 39Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
I agree with you, Brandon @TheChosenSleuth. I interpreted Thomas’s statement , “ Let us also go, that we may die with Him. “ as saying, “ Let us go, that we may die with Jesus. “ That’s the only reasonable interpretation. I love your channel.
Jesus never said "I AM GOD" if that statement "I and the Father are one" makes Yeshua God then John 17:19-22 makes the disciples God as they are ONE in EXACTLY THE SAME way (KATHOS)...> The next part is skipped over because it destroys Trinitarian demons, he said yoU ACCUSE ME for blasphemy for saying I am son of God not claiming to be GOD
I am amazed how 'THE MYSTERY" that later is revealed by the Apostle Paul., I am amazed how Jesus, using parables, storied with deep spiritual meanings, kept this Mystery hidden until "the fullness of time," because if the devil knew he would not have crucified the Son of Glory." One aspect of this Mystery was that Jew and Gentile were the offspring of God, which one of the Jewish leaders objected to, shouting to Jesus in this video, "What, are you saying, OTHERS sheep not of this fold, are you referring to the Gentile?" Yes, Jesus was, using the parable of sheep. Later Paul in Acts chapter 17 reveals this Mystery of the Gentile being the Offspring of God, unaware. Amazing!!
One thing lacking in the ESV is appropriate capitalization of words referring to God. If you switch to other versions, you’ll see that in John 11:16, in Thomas’s statement, the “Him” to whom he refers is Jesus. Thomas assumes that when they go to Bethany, they will probably be persecuted and killed for being followers of Jesus. The commentaries I consulted state the same. Mystery solved! Thank you for your wonderful work and dedication as The Chosen Sleuth! Looking forward to seeing you at CHOSENCON this year! God bless you and Vanessa in all you do to spread the Gospel of Christ❣️✝️🙏🏼♥️
*"I and the Father are one" is NOT a claim to be God.* In Genesis ch 1, God gave dominion over the earth to Man. When Jesus returns, he will begin his reign over the earth as God's anointed King. Jesus is a MAN. Jesus was resurrected because he was a righteous man, THE righteous man, whom God anointed to rule over the earth as His representative. A DEAD *man* cannot resurrect himself, only God can resurrect a dead body - and God is eternal, He cannot die. Christianity, so-called, has got a lot of things wrong, and has a great deal to learn.

Well based on context he never declared himself as God, he declared himself as Elohim, the Son of God, which is the Angel of the Lord, even said he told Moses the Law, which the Angel of the Lord told Moses the Law. So he is a Angel of the Lord. Context is key, since they translate Elohim as God, Gods, Lord, Lords, some even straight to Jesus.
Small objection to the "die with him" part, if it were talking about Jesus, the "him" would be capitalized, Scripture is always very consistent about that. It isn't capitalized, and the only other him in context is Lazarus, so Thomasmust be speaking about Lazarus.
Enjoyed your commentary. Most people think "gentiles" is a bad term, however it (goy/goyim) only means non Israelite nations. The Festival of Lights/Hanukkah and Passover are not High Holy Days. The symbolism (3:46) do you know him lol. He is also talking abut The Sanhedrin/The Kingdom of Judah. However, I have to pushback "I and The Father are one," meaning one accord. How can we go from The Father has given them to me, to I am The Father? We have be mindful of the complete statement(s) within the a chapter. The works I do in my Father's name testify on my behalf, but the reason you don't trust is that you are not included among my sheep. (John 10:25-26) and they still wanted to stone Yahshua. Yahshua reply is John 10:34-42 and his ref is Psalms 82:6.
“My teaching is not mine but his who sent me.” (John 7:16) “…the one who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.” (John 8:26) “The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his work.” (John 14:10) “…the word you hear is not mine but is from the Father who sent me.” (John 14:24) “for I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me.” (John 12:49-50) “For I gave them (his disciples) the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.” (John 17:8)
Jesus was not surprised to hear Lazarus died... good grief. And He was not shocked by reading the news in a letter... good grief. This is twisting Scripture. Read for yourself the real story: "So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” (John 11:3-4) ... "This He said, and after that He *said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep.” The disciples then said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.” (John 11:11-15)
I also think that Jesus was also referring back to Ezekiel 34, when He claimed to be the Good Shepherd. In Ezekiel, God was speaking to the shepherds of Ezekiel’s day, declaring to them that He would one day come and PERSONALLY shepherd His flock (Israel). Thus, Jesus was claiming to be God.
So you started out saying that the whole scene was going to be word for word and the words that Jesus are saying are word for word but all these Pharisees, Sadducees and Sanhedrin and the disciples are made up characters and none of this dialogue is even in the Bible. The verse in 20 and 22 are there but none of the rest is up to this point. So to me you are purposely being deceiving why not just admit from the beginning that the words of Jesus here are from the scriptures but all of the words of the disciples and most of the dialogue from everyone else is just made up.Why can't you just be honest ? DO you know how many people are commenting on your videos and they are believing that this crap is real? That this crap they think is in the Bible be honest with them. Or is your goal to make them believe this garbage. I am going to paraphrase this, it is from Galatians 1v:6 I am astonished that you are so quickly turning to a different gospel- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble young WANT TO DISTORT THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST. But even if we or an angel from heaven preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you , let him be accursed. And GOD was so serious that HE had Paul repeat it word for word again in verse 9. Don't you know that you can lie to us and lie to everyone else who see's this but on THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO ANSWER FOR EVERY WORD THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. And why do you have to repeat what he said ? We can hear what He say's. And again if you understood the language you would know that Jesus told them many times that He was God and that He was The Son of GOD.
