Jeff Fenholt, Yvonne Elliman, and Company perform "The Temple," "Everything's Alright (reprise)" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him" at the 1972 Tony Awards.
I got the original album for my 13th birthday. Totally changed so much for me. My faith, my music all was shook. I always have this album on my phone. Ian Gillan , Yvonne and for me the guitar playing of Neil Hubbard and Henry McCullough just electrifies me to this day. Thank you for this🙏❤
Ranks up there with Jennifer Holliday's performance at the 1982 Tony's as the very best performances at this award show. A shame what has happened to music and the program in the subsequent decades.
Jeff Fenholt really got lost in the shuffle. Having to duplicate Ian Gillan's vocals from the concept album, then starring on Broadway, but soon getting replaced by his own understudy, Ted Neely. The same thing happened to Ben Vereen as Judas, replaced at first by understudy Kurt Yaghjian, then by Carl Anderson in the 1973 film (Yaghjian played High Priest Annas in the film.) But Vereen went on to stardom. Fenholt never really did anything, eventually becoming a Contemporary Christian Artist.
