I like the sound of this one, because it does capture Herod's ego. He was so angry at Jesus, and the emotion in this one matches that and the lyrics with it.
For those people saying it is an American musical, you are wrong. Jesus Christ Superstar is a British made film. The only American actor in it is Tony Vincent who plays Simon Zealotes :)
1:03 Christ facepalm! 1:17 Orange, apple, lemon, HE'S KING OF IT. 1:42 If House was a musical. 2:00 Not sure if Jesus or Tarzan. 2:35 BEEP! 3:03 THAT...GUY??? 3:12 "Make that thingy in the back of your throat jiggle some more." 3:20 Jesus totally looks like Paul McGann in Doctor Who.
I think Rice said it, speaking for him and Webber. Point being that just because it is "bound to remind you" of some nonsense, it's not bound to remind US of anything since even the makers didn't intend it that way.
@rogerwilco2 I gotta agree with you, rogerwilco2. '73 version wins another round. Still...the fact we are talking about it regardless if you're a 1973 or 2000 version fan is bound to remind us that Christ died for our sins. Glory to God in the Highest!
Good god! he's just like Stewie Griffin D: accent, and the way he says "superstar" is scarily accurate, This right here is the real life grown up Stewie :')
people who slam Jesus Christ Superstar need to realize something its about the final week of Christs life leading up to his death, Andrew Lloyd Webber is a mastermind
I'm playing this role next week I can't wait, he is nasty but he reminds me a bit of Craig Revelhorn. He's a great actor I prefer him rather than the arena version. I didn't like it one bit!
No, Seth MacFarlane voices Stewie Griffin. In the 100th episode special, a woman is convinced that it is Rik Mayall, Seth does not correct her because her reaction is hilarious. He may have been inspired by Mayall, but Mayall has never be in credits for the show, and Seth himself has broken out in a Stewie voice during Q&A things. Maybe they have similar accents, but sound nothing alike if you ask me.
@7peacefreak I love the cynicism in this - I think it's much better than the character of 73 when there's nothing really to be afraid of. This one, you can see the power that Herod has but at the same time it's funny.
Those who didn't....many have speculated over what exactly that would look like; but either outcome would be for eternity. Does that make sense from a logical perspective even if you don't necessarily agree with me?
Please, allow me to ask you to think about it in this way: if I go through life and it turns out I'm wrong---then nothing happens in the end; no rewards, no consequences (like having insurance, but never getting into an accident) BUT...if I'm right...someday there will be a final judgement: those who accepted the insurance will be okay. T
@SnoddyD123 Interestingly the only person I've seen suggesting this is british. Odd because you'd think one would recognize an accent from their own area.
King Herod in the 73's was a very funny dumbass clown, but this one is really mean...powerful... scaring... this is a stunning performance... I only wish the camera was foucusing on him all the time, I'm sure it's a wonderful example for theatre students
I guess I tend to view my belief in Christ as God...well...it could be considered a type of insurance. Right now, I don't have the authority to say I'm right or wrongt; but....for arguement's sake let's just say my belief IS LIKE insurance.
The problem with this version is that it doesn't make sense. Herod wants Jesus to entertain him. He's mostly amused and seems entirely hedonistic but when Jesus fails to deliver we get to see his anger. I could actually be afraid of the Herod in the 1973 film but this guy just seems to be overacting the part when it really requires a more subtle touch.
Understand the parody but with all other cast members having such a strong vocal presence this doesn't work and its such a shame -JCS is such a great work and actually does tease the brain while providing good music - I would have preferred singers for all roles -Adrian is not someone I conjour as a vocalist - t
