The deleted Resurrection appearance to Thomas with voice and music reworked to be incorporated into the film. A true blessing as it was sent by a great youtuber friend dolcebimbp Francesco C. thank you my friend.
The sound track on this deleted clip is not from "Jesus of Nazareth". It is from the mini-series "A.D." which was made in 1985. That film has a similar resurrection scene. I guess someone just dubbed it onto this so that the clip wouldn't be silent. The background music is from "J of N" but not the dialogue.

All these years.....and this is the first time I've gazed upon this scene. Why Zeffirelli didn't include this in the miniseries is mystifying. An important part of the NT. I recently saw an interview with Zeffirelli and he said he settled on leaving it out so that the viewers who knew this chapter in the Bible could leave it to their own imagination as they always had before attempting the film. Just something better left to our own understanding of this chapter in the NT, is what he said.
I just watched that interview and I agree with you. This scene is representative of what most likely happened after the resurrection but it doesn’t fit in with the overall tone of the movie. I’ve always found the film’s final cut to be disheartening as Jesus is saying his final goodbye to his beloved friends. In scripture, though, the resurrection is an amazing glorious event that initiates the beginning of God’s plan for the disciples to get ready for the appearance of the Holy Spirit which starts in Acts. That miraculous event ignited the first church that Jesus gave prophecy about in the gospels. Jesus actually appeared to the disciples many times for 40 days and ate meals with them. They are not baptized with the Holy Spirit until the proper time. In this scene, Jesus directly breathes the Holy Spirit in to them. I think Zeffirelli’s primary vision for the film was to present the story in a poetic form much like a mysterious painting. But, he missed the major point in doing so. Though the film is a beautiful portrayal of the divinity of Jesus, it unfortunately misses the whole reason why Jesus was born to fulfill the New Covenant by overcoming sin and death for us through his amazing resurrection. Though God’s ways are indeed a mystery, the gospel is plain and simple so that every person might believe, repent, and be baptized in order to be saved and born again. And, then the saved are to grow in their faith and then go and make disciples. That’s the Great Commission for all believers.
What he actually said was that it took away the mystery of the resurrection. If you think about it, the ending (which he found latter from some screen tests in the apostles hideaway) is true to Jesus words to Thomas...blessed are they that have not seen. Adding the scene in descriptive detail would have created all kinds of irrelevant physical questions about a man dying and being resurrected....what happened to the red passion robe, what about the injuries from the crown, did the stone move by itself, did angels move the stone, did Jesus appear out of thin air, or did he walk through a door. Zeffirelli knew it was impossible to create a resurrection scene that would have captured the meaning of the resurrection. It would have been what Roger Scruton called "kitsch". Zeffirelli was a great director, this is by far the best movie ever made about Jesus. It's also paradoxical that he was a devote Catholic, and yet publicly admitted that he was homosexual...but didn't like the word "gay". I wonder how he struggled with that. He had two adopted sons though.
You never see this part of the movie. They've taken it away. Thank you for showing it heare. They've also taken other parts of it out. It's so refreshing to see this.
SHALOM THIS DELETED SCENE IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THOMAS BELIEVE AND THE DOUBT WAS GONE AND CALL HIM MY LORD MY GOD THIS SCENE SHOULDN'T HAVE NEVER BEEN DELETED I'M DISAPPOINTED THE WHOLE MOVIE 🎬🎥IS GREAT BUT IS INCOMPLETE
I can tell this has been edited together. However, it is not a bad reconstruction. I’ve certainly only seen glimpses of this resurrection footage from the show before. It was nice to see what this scene would’ve looked and sounded like.
Jesus is with us and inside us.his ressuraction is the birth of a new person.we have to find heaven inside us.fallen mankind in Adam is risen in jesus christ.his ressuraction is spiritual but not physical literally .holy spirit survives in our body and that is why we raise physically in our bodies.
I’m pretty sure there are two deleted scenes which are yet to be found. The one is the temptation of Christ which in the film should be between the first appearance of Jesus in the film when he goes to be baptised and the scene where they inform Mary that her son is back in the synagogue to preach. The other is the agony of Jesus praying to the father after the last supper, where he goes to Peter and sees him asleep and say the spirit is strong but the flesh is weak. There are pics of both scenes. I wish someone has more info.
The second scene you mention appears in the miniseries version. For example in the minute 4:55:43 in this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yumoqNlaPCE.html
A delete scene? Wow, that must have been hard to find in all the caves around Jerusalem…… I never realized there were movies being made during the time of Jesus?
I guess I will be the contrarion here as I think it is good that it was cut because it was not set up, blocked and shot as well as the rest of the film.
In thé endtimes you will beg to put your hand in His wounds. Blessed are thé Real believers who will bring testimony in thé endtimes. Thé Lord will show Mercy and love to thèm. They will bé called His Friends but non more His servants. Yet blessed are thé servants amongst thé children of men.
The director shot this scene twice he wasn’t happy with any of the results. The scene was not even blocked , in other words this is basically a film rehearsal for camera set up. If you search RU-vid you can find the same footage with Robert Powell’s voice and a different edit . This footage is someone hoping to re-edit the film to make it work. The director made the right decision in leaving the resurrection out, in other words its really unfilmable.

You could say that creatively by removing this scene they cast the audience in the role of Thomas. Do we actually need to see the scene where he has risen to know it has happened?
This is wonderful. It should never have been deleted. My Lord and My God. Thomas was thanking God for Jesus. Not proclaiming Jesus God. Born again Christians always make that mistake. Jesus said to Mary that he was going to his God and our God and to his Father and our Father. Mary was to tell the Disciples exactly that.
@@femaleKCRoyalsFan I was quoting scripture because last Sunday was Easter Sunday which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I stand by what I wrote. Before the Sanhedrin Jesus is asked Are you the Son of God ? Jesus replies I am and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand side of the Father. I read and love the scriptures and I'm very grateful to Jesus for what he did for us. Accusing me of Heracy. Who are you to judge.?

Jeremiah 33:6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. 2 Corinthians 12:21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
I will easily admit I cry at the crucifixion scene every time I watch this. Hussey’s grieving performance just tears you apart. Incredible emotion. One look at Borgnine during that scene says it all. He did an interview where he stated it took many takes because he got so emotional overwhelmed.
Yes it is real. It was in the documentary. Had no voices. after Zeffireli deleted it, then A.D. which was the same people who made Jesus of Nazareth used the same script for this part. But the voices arebfrom A.D.
@@matthewakian2 yes. Anthony Burgess wrote both the scripts for Jesus of Nazareth and the semi sequel A.D. Both were based on the books he wrote himself with Jesus of Nazareth was from " Man from Nazareth" and A.D. was from "Kingdom of the Wicked".hence many of the phrases they use in both films are very similar including the sets.
I have seen this movie many many times and this scene was never there Anyhow I have some comments I wanted to add When Jesus was on the cross they showed the thief who asked Jesus to remember him when he comes into his kingdom on Jesus left side instead of right side and this is a very very unforgettable mistake Also when they got Jesus body down and put him in his mothers arms they showed a clean body without any bruises or blood or any trace of the scything on his back or for the nails and when Magdalene kissed his foot there was no trace of the nails these are important issues that should have not been overlooked
For the films sake 2 things. It was raining hard before they brought him down so perhaps much of the blood washed away. Also when Mary brings Christ into her arms you can clearly see the naik mark. I do agree with you that when Magdalene kisses his feet the mark is not visible. Yes they should have had more lacerations on the skin but then again it was 1977 and television only allowed so much gore at the time. As for the thief, Christian tradition holds that Gestas (the repentant thief) was on the cross to the left of Jesus and Dismas (the non repentant) was on the cross to the right of Jesus.
The repentant thief is on the right side of Jesus not on the left side this is a very serious mistake Even Jesus in His preachings that on the judgement day he will take the sheep on his right hand to heaven and those on his left will go to hell
@@antoinettestephan255 yes Matthew 21 verse 35 does say that. However I understand you but the Bible does not say anywere in the 4 Gospels where the repentant thief was. All the Bible says is that Jesus was crucified between both. I am not Catholic although I grew up with priests and Nuns in a monastery all my life. I am Christian or more like a Catholic Christian hybrid. Tradition and that is why I really almost detest traditions. But tradition aeven gives the thief a name that is not even mentioned in the Bible. I'm left-handed. The nuns and priests tried to beat it out of me saying left was evil and to be right handed Abut thank you Lord I escaped and still am left-handed. What's important is to be on Jesus' right when He returns would you agree? I see you are a very spiritual person. Blessings.
@@MRLASTSONOFKRYPTON yes I am a spiritual person and as you mentioned we just pray and hope we will be on Jesus right side so that we are with him in paradise God bless you
Yes, I noticed that too. It was very clinical. But the opposite would be the over the top Gibson's Passion. Also there is a scene where Christ is on a complete cross without the scaffolding as He stands out by Himself.
