Not super surprising, each genre of heavy music has influenced others and "hardcore" is more of an ethos at this point from having bands like Belmont and Koyo to bands like Jesus Piece, and Knocked loose considered "Hardcore" of course there are always people that'll tell you of Jesus Piece isn't hardcore they're metalcore but genre policing is dumb in my opinion it's all under the same umbrella
@@davidwright3827 yeah I got no issue with it. I’m a death metal guy who likes some hardcore. It’s just interesting how much old school brutal dm and the revival stuff is having a moment right now
I love that Garza is writing all this down to actually check out later. He seems like an OG who isnt threatened by the young guns and welcomes them with open arms..so cool to see
Cant wait for their new album, Jesus Piece is going up and up with ...So Unknown. The singles are huge! And I am so hyped! Its been way too long, its been like 5 years...
I genuinely love Sanction's EP With Blood Left Uncleansed. It feels like the spiritual successor to what Disembodied was doing back in the day. This was a dope episode, would absolutely love to geek out with these dudes over all the new metal/hardcore that's coming out. If I had to shout out just one band who's blending death metal and hardcore together in a really sick way, it'd be Gates to Hell.
Never heard of this band but I definately wanna check them out. I've already gotten into two bands I wouldn't know about if it wasn't for this podcast...within destruction and slay squad. It's on my list of stuff to do after work. Great episode as always! Get Frankie and Josh Travis on!
Love this band. So cool too. Singer was smoking with me before the gig last summer when I saw them, requested a track and then he played it and dedicated it to me. Guitarist was also wearing an aphex top and a track of his was playing before their show, we hit it off talking about him. ❤❤❤❤
Feels like a lot of bands try to act "too cool" for the scene. It obvious that these dudes are genuine fans of Heavy music period. They got me hip to so much new music on this podcast alone. Genuine dudes all around. Big ups to Chris. His podcast skills have definitely leveled up!
such a good interview, i went to 2 shows on this tour. The first week and the last show. it was my first time seeing them live and they deserve all the success they get. excited for this new record as well
Saw these guys when they were on tour with Hatebreed & Terror in 2023 & Boris & The Melvins were playing the same nite downstairs and both bands were watching Jesus Piece tear it up as the opening band. You know these guys are gonna be huge when LEGENDARY bands are watching you! 💯
Damn I’m actually surprised how deep these dudes dig - that’s super inspiring but also cool cause I feel like when I hear their sound it shows and that’s partly what I dig about them. Lot of different and deep cut bands that influence them (especially d beat, fuck yeah.) This one is really rad - just chilling talking about music.
Hell yea, was waiting to see if you’d have these dudes on Garza 🤘 By the way I just finished playing once again, Suicide Silence - Self-Titled album. I absolutely luv that album, and yes even though most all other albums of theirs sound nothing like it, it is literally my favorite Suicide Silence album. Hahaha I know so many keyboard warriors will want to crucify me over that haha but I don’t give a fxck. Good music is good music, period and I agree, you guys needed to write that album. We all share the same favorite bands especially from that era. 7Dust will forever be my #1 though. You guys wrote an album embodying your influences from some of your favorite artists like KoRn and your favorite producer and mentor Ross Robinson. Livin the dream bro, livin the dream 🤘That album is straight up 90’s Nu-Metal at its finest and I luv it. I am also in my early 40’s now and so I come from the same era as you basically do Garza. I absolutely hated the negative responses you guys took for that record from a bunch of fanboy keyboard warriors that only want 1 damn thing and that is for every album to sound the same like a Cleansing or something. Though I am a fan of all that also, the 9 songs from Self-Titled is my actual go to Suicide Silence record. Respects brother. 🤘🎸🤘
