Oh the beauty of our Lord Jesus found in these words of a hymn penned so long ago. I remember singing it many times with my Dad playing organ and piano-wonderful memories but the poetry of the words strikes me afresh. Thank you
"Jesus, the very thought of Thee / With sweetness fills my breast." This is so wonderful! Just to think that Jesus my Savior loved me unto death, even the death of the Cross, keeps me rejoicing and living for Him each day. To Him be all the glory now and forever. Amen.
Oh Lord God Almighty how great could those days of this composer of this beautiful music be like; it's my humble prayer you grunt unto us infants of this days to also do as he and even greater 🙏🙏🙏🙌
I'm reading the diary of Lillias Trotter -- missionary to Algiers years ago -- she mentions this song being sung in 1905. I had to google it and hear it/see the words.

What wonderful hymns. Its just an observation. Faithful expository preaching churches play and sing, theology based hymns with choirs and as congregations. Hillsong, Bethel and other groups like these do not.
