Visual comparison of Solas impeller and Hamilton 4.0 impeller for a Hamilton 212 jet pump. Based on actual river tests, the Solas proved superior, along with a 105 mm nozzle insert.
Sort of hard data. With the 4.0 and 103 nozzle, it blows out and won't recover until you reduce throttle. With the Solas and 105 nozzle it slips and recovers without complete blowout. The Solas gets about 200 RPM more top end. That is all that is known. If we had a kW number for the Solas, we would know more. Lacking this, if we estimate the difference between the Solas and 4.0 is the same as the difference between a 3.4 and 3.9, then as per the HJ212 brochure, 4200 on the 3.4 gives the same power as 4000 on the 4.0. So the power is about the same. But... if the power is the same, the thrust increases with nozzle size. And if the Solas is more efficient (it seems to be based on comparisons with 3.4), then the improvement will actually be larger than implied by the nozzle size. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YWR4uiOpzTA.html
