Jet boat the upper Salmon River, near Shoup, Idaho, USA. Flow was around 7500 CFS in Salmon, Idaho. This is moderately high spring runoff. In very high years it can reach 12,000 CFS or more. Late in the summer the flow is very low and the river is impassable, with large rocks and very narrow passages between them. The most difficult 7 miles (of 45 miles) can be scouted from the road. Read-and-run is sufficient when the water is higher.
