Great review. Robert would be very pleased indeed to learn that the newest e208/e2008 builds include a battery percentage display that can be viewed from the trip computer stalk temporarily, or you can set Personalised 1 to have it on your instrument panel whilst driving all the time (next to the Guessometer - or Range!). I notice that the car you're reviewing has the older style automatic gear lever (pistol grip). We have a new e2008 which has the new drive selector/button, which has an improvement with being able to leave B mode on all the time whilst the ignition is on. This means it doesn't disable either when you put the car into park or reverse.
Oh! I forgot to speak about that. You’re right, I don’t get why B mode get disengaged all the time when changing between drive and reverse, it’s great to hear they have also solved this!
With the Carplay issue you raised, we resolved this quite easily and we're absolutely delighted with the gadget. We bought a Carlinkit 3.0 gizmo this week. Readily available online. There is also a v4.0 which supports both Carplay and Android Auto. This is simply plugged into the dedicated Carplay USB socket of the Peugeot and using the short lead they supply, its also attached to the outside of the centre console - so very much out the way. The little box is very small. This means that we an just unlock our new e2008, put our iPhone 11 Pro into the smartphone wireless charger cupboard, shut the cupboard door and within 30 seconds the phone/gizmo and car all connect and you've got full Carplay working well. This means the phone is charging away, whilst we use the steering wheel or centre touchscreen to listen to music, change tracks, Google Maps etc. Shame that (as you say) Peugeot don't provide built in wireless Carplay, but it must be coming as its now appearing on the new 308, so will likely arrive across the range.
Same here, 508 GT - piano lacquer on the dashboard behind that "small" steering wheel: one time not enough caution with the vacum cleaner and baaam, scratches all over it :( ... don't like it. Next side car will definitly be an 208e :) But i kept hearing that the peugeot app is a pain... (mine won't even sync sometimes for more then a week now, so i'm afraid of getting features to be used with that app and its not functional at all...)
I totally agree. The key less and charging, or should I say stop-charging, is so annoying. You get to a fast charger station, start the charge, then go to relief your self, or buying something, and you cant return to the car, for it would stop charging?!? Not the brightest moment of the engineer who invented that feature!
With regards to the electric motor switching off, I discovered that a simple tap of the brake every so often keeps the motor on. It was very annoying to begin with, wondering why the motor had gone off, when we were just sitting in the car with the air con on!
Ugh. But that’s not really a solution right? Wish they sort it out. I guess it’s a safety feature… but you can sleep in a Tesla with aircon on all night…
Great review. One thing: You said that the eco mode makes it feel like a petrol car; the e2008 petrol version is quicker than the ev! Also, dash cams are illegal in certain countries / regions.
