In this video we assemble The JET JDP15B benchtop drill press, throw a dial indicator on it and measure the runout and give an initial review. This is the biggest, most stout benchtop drill press I've ever used. The runout was amazing for out of the box. Can you please reply back with your impressions after having it for a while? I am also looking to replace a bench top delta drill press. And I plan to use this mostly for drilling through steel including round stock. The speed range looks attractive to me, and the large table also looks favorable. I already have a mobile steel stand that I made that’ll place this down at a lower height similar to what you’re talking about doing. Thanks for the video!

I haven't used it a ton because I've added so many other tools to the shop this year but I did get a chance to run a 1" annular cutter though 1" mild steel plate. It works good, 3/4HP is pretty strong but more power is always more better. I did get a bit of chatter running the annular cutter but it smoothed out as the depth grew and to be fair that was with an aftermarket 3/4" weldon arbor for the annular cutters because they don't work in standard drill chucks. So that chatter could have been from the weldon arbor, or the annular cutter itself or possibly the drill but I don't think it was the drill. I like it so far, and I like the huge push to stop button because you can kind of slap it with any part of your hand or arm that happens to be clean at the moment.

Thanks I appreciate the response. I have a mag drill and some Weldon shank annular cutters. Might try them on round stock for an experiment. Need the drill press for routine drilling through plate, tube and solid round stock. No plates more than 1/4”. Round stock won’t have very thick walls. Solid round stock is up to 1”.

@@buxka2 Will probably be just fine then, I wouldn't hesitate to drill through 1/2" mild steel with this press.

It's early yet, truth is I'm knee deep in a different project at the moment that has been dragging on for a few weeks. That's a video for another day...
