I have a Jet JS-300. I chose to be a little adventurous and bought it in sea foam green, rather than the white one, that was also on discount where I saw the guitars. It's by no means a perfect guitar. The fretboard is a separate piece of wood from the neck, but both are roasted maple. There's a clearly visible line, especially around the frets 7-9 where it almost looks like a crack, and that would be annoying on a more expensive instrument. The neck feels really good though, the fretwork is absolutely acceptable. You could round them off even more, but the fret edges are in no way something that I even think about or notice when I'm playing. The trem is a six point, six screw system and it came not floating, but set at the front of the guitar, so you can just use the trem down. I think that's wise with this guitar. The trem block seems solid enough, it's wider. But I don't think that tuning stability would be any good if it were a floating bridge. If you do dive bombs you'll go out of tune. The nut could probably be filed and polished to perfection by a luthier, but it's not a problem. All in all, it's a keeper! It sounds good and it's fun to play. Sounds classic. I just haven't tried it in a loud room yet, and if it turns out that the pickups squeal or whatever, I'll change them. But I don't think they need to be changed automatically, it's a solid instrument, especially for the price point. I also have a black Jet JT-350 (the experience of that guitar made me buy the JS-300), a T-style with a humbucker in the neck position. I wasn't happy with the pickups. You couldn't really lower the humbucker enough, and it was a very dark sounding pickup, a stark contrast to the bridge singe coil. Also, the push-push pot didn't stay pushed in. The pot itself was fine, it worked when I took it apart from the plate. I guess that the plate and the bushing were just a millimeter too thick, and the pot mostly didn't stay pushed in. The pickups themselves squealed a bit when I was playing the guitar in the rehearsal room with my band, so I decided then to change the pickups (this was actually before I noticed the issue with the push-push pot). I changed all the electrics and the jack, and it's now an excellent guitar! I play it a lot, and it's fun to play, comfortable body, comfortable neck... I'm very happy with it! The fact that in some angles against the light I clearly see lines in the finish, especially on the back, like the paint is following the seams of the different parts of wood that are glued together to make the body isn't an issue for me, because the guitar itself was affordable, but that could be an area of improvement.

I've had 2 Squier guitars plus 2 Fender player series strats. All had issues with the neck. I decided to try out the Jet JS300 and it's the best guitar Neck I've used. It's spot on. I've had Harley benton. Ibanez. Which were ok but the neck on the Jet is amazing

Having owned both a squire affinity strat and having recently bought a Jet js400 I can say that pickups on both guitars are 'dead'. They need swapping asap in my opinion. That said the jet is a stunning guitar and has one of the most comfortable and easy to play necks one can get their hands on and sustain for days. Easily blows any competition out of the water for each price range.

IMHO the Squier pickups sound nicer when used with cleaner signal, however as gain increases, the ones in the jet seem more articulate and defined.

Szia, nekem nagyon hasonló a két gitár hangzása, talán a Jet gitár hangja csillogóbb, fényesebb számomra. Megnéztem közelebbről a Jet gitárokat. Meglepően igényesen jó anyagokból, közép kategória( szuper nyak) vannak összeszerelve! Szerintem most a legjobb ár arány a piacon, gratulálok a videóhoz!!!!

Hey ! Sorry very busy this week but will answer to every comment you guys posted the last couple of days, thanks a lot to everyone and I hope you're all doing super well !! ❤️ Just a few added thoughts about this video :) Of course I'm using the exact same tones every time, no tweaking (not even the level...or else it wouldn't make any sense aha), no post as well, all you hear are the guitars both with HB strings set (10-46) straight into the same tone in the HX Stomp (basically just an amp simulation & a touch of reverb, that's all). Of course one is HSS, one is SSS...but I'm not sure these kind of videos are relevant anyway ? Maybe it can show a bit of the different character of each guitar but I wouldn't take this "comparison" too seriously though. More about these two probably tomorrow ! Do you like these kind of "head to head tone comparison" videos ? Does it make any sense to you or not really ? Would you like the same one but with higher gain tones ? If you have any suggestion for me to improve in the future I'm listening ;) Have all a great Friday !

Quel boulot !

You promised, you delivered! Thank you! Yes, in general, it makes sense to compare similar guitars (strat vs. strat) tonewise and ergonomically. I think, they sound very close to each other. Only in overdriven mode you could hear some differences. Tonewise they're similar to each other, but I would be also interested if you could say some words about the playability.

@++++++ Johan ^^
@JohanJoosLaur
@JohanJoosLaur 3 года назад
Coucou !!

The squier sounds as though the pickups are driving the amp more - are they higher output? Are you using an amp or an interface? I prefer the bridge single coil on the Jet, hb bridge pickups on s-type guitars always sound incongruous to me - flat and inexpressive compared to the single coils.

Video about all that tomorrow, meant to post it today but couldn't finish the edit in time aha ! Here the Squier has more output actually, but not necessarily a best output ? They are so close I think in terms of sound quality, personally I prefer the Jet in most of the clips as it sounds cleaner I think, and I like how spanky it can get. Not too mention one is brand new (needs to open up basically) when the other is 3 years old and had time to settle in...but I'm actually surprised the Jet keeps up in terms of tones ! Cause given the specs difference I was expecting the Jet would be behind in terms of tones (especially since the Squier is such a brilliant sounding guitar I think). It's always the same thing though with these vids, especially using a modeler, I feel like through my amp they sound much more different. But it can give an idea I guess !

@The Nest Ahaha ! 7 Bullets, man you're on fire I love it ! I hope you'll find one like the one your had & loved...which year was it made already ? You told me but I forgot ! Yeah definitely, it's all so subjective anyway that's why I find it so hard to do these kind of videos...'cause even tweaking the pickups height (which I did on the Squier but not on the JET yet...reminds me I have to experiment with that ahaha) can drastically change the sound of a guitar...or even just the action a touch lower/higher can drasticaly change it as well...etc...not to mention all the presets I made on the HX Stomp were made with the Bullet & TE20, so I'd need to spend some time tweaking them a bit more to match the voicing of the JET, etc...there's nothing better than pluggin' into a simple amp and that's it in these cases aha 😂
