The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ru-vid.comUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

Heather D. I know it's not the same but I'm sure you can still get into big fish like this up around Canada and the US. Even if your back won't let you fight a big fish with a rod and reel, you could trawl from a boat using a deck winch. I've got one on my boat made by Alvey and it's great for anyone who can't hang on to a big fish for a half hour. It's basically a reel that mounts to the side of a boat with one big line guide.

Santa Barbara in the house,we just had a seal wash up on a local beach w a 40 inch bite radius but you two guys TAMED THOSE SHARKS,all I can say is BADASS,p.s that catch and cook wink was the best.

Waatched a bunch of your videos last night and this morning. Finally I gave in and added yet another channel (Yours) to those I sub to. What an amazing day! With the exception of the three eyes on your rod of course. After all the travelling and lack of sleep, I would have been gutted to have that happen to me on a day when the fish seemed to be fighting over who's gonna eat your lure.

Hey Cavy, have you thought about getting a lip gripper? Those things are pretty handy for handling big toothy fish and minimize damage to the fish as well.
Yeah right after I lost that first Spanish we REALLY thought about it haha! I think we just need to man up a bit and dive further to grab the tail, but I reckon lip grips would be safer also, because those sharks were FAST!! wouldn't want to lose a hand!!!!
Cavy love you video's man! So many lures dude. I got myself a g control after seeing a previous video of yours caught many fish until lure was completely unrecognisable. Struggling to find a decent source of them my tackle world that has them only have what's left in a discount bin. Such good lures man.
