4K No music or commentary. Full trip report including a stop at the Delta Air Lines Flight Museum. JetBlue A220 Blue Plus fare for Even More Space. Atlanta to Boston on July 4th at night.
My camera was the iPhone 14 Pro. Timeline below.
Trip report
I started the journey with a visit to the Delta Flight Heritage Museum. It's about a $10 Uber ride from the airport. If you use Lyft or Uber proceed to the gate house beyond the 747 for pick up. I had to message the drive explaining where I was as the app insisted on using the close, but not-walkable, Delta headquarters as my location.
After the museum I went to the Kimpton Overland hotel to investigate this hotel's observation deck restaurant for plane spotting. Unfortunately the hotel's restaurants close from 2 to 5, including the one that provides runway views. I got there at 2:20 and wasn't willing to wait until 5 PM.
Back at the airport, I entered the main terminal, had dinner, and proceeded to gate T16. As luck would have it this gate had a table adjacent to the window overlooking the ramp for some great plane spotting. You can see that video under the Live section of this channel.
The details...
JetBlue flight 1096
Airbus A220-300
Airplane name: Rob Dewar (N3008J)
Seat 4A
Fare type: Blue Plus, economy
Cabin configuration: 2-3 throughout
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) Terminal E to Boston Logan Airport (BOS) Terminal C
4 July 2023
Walked: 2.5 miles including museum
After an hour or so we were informed that the departure gate had been changed to E34. That gate was on the Delta Concourse and quite a distance from T16.
I took the plane train to Terminal E which had a lively food court including a piano player. Naturally E34 was the last gate. Along the way to it I passed Delta's Johannesburg-bound Airbus A350-900. This flight takes 14+ hours eastbound and is one of the top 20 longest in the world.
At about 9:20 PM, an hour and a half late, we boarded JetBlue 1096. I was seated in 4A with a nice view of the ramp and some distant fireworks on this July 4 night.
Seat 4A was an "even more space" seat that is included with the Blue Plus fare. This upgrade cost an extra $52 on my flight. It provides a 35 inch seat pitch versus 32 inch standard economy seat pitch, itself quite roomy.
We made the nighttime taxi from the gate to the departing runway for an uneventful take off, climb, and cruise to Boston.
During the flight I did a quick review of the in-flight entertainment system and captured the pleasant nighttime cabin ambiance offered by jetBlue.
Toward the end of the flight we came upon Philadelphia and New York City for some spectacular nighttime air to ground footage.
Finally, we had low ceilings and poor visibility in Boston for a foggy nighttime landing and interesting video.

Those Even More Space seats are nice, aren't they? We usually upgrade to them for comfort.

Hi Daniel. I might try a JFK live stream next week like I did in Atlanta (more basic than what I was doing before). Depends on the cell signal there. Updates on Planeviz Instagram.

I agree with RuthP. JFK is the best. It gets the kind of traffic that I am interested in…heavies and international
