I’ve been a fan of Jethro Tull since 1972 in junior high school. I love all things Tull. I see you have a new channel here so I decided to Subscribe. Cheerio !

Tull were my musical blindspot for years, but I'm so glad I found them later in life. AND that I didn't upset at least one long-term fan. I plan to do a quick cover art review (just for the fun of it), and maybe a top 20 track too, so hopefully a bit more Tull to discuss yet. Anything else you'd like me to cover, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Hey thanks for sharing. And glad to see RokFlote getting some appreciation, as I gave it quite a knock, and I really hope he does more stuff. Also interesting to see you too have War Child low (I’m always a bit confused by the general love of it). And if you’ve not checked out the remix of Too Old, please do, and maybe you’ll nudge it up a place or two. Cheers!

A great first video. Others that have become huge successes in the RU-vid music discussion sphere had far less assured starts than this. I love myself some Jethro Tull, though I have to admit that my enthusiasm for their work dips steadily from after Stormwatch and becomes a plummet after Crest of a Knave. A cracking ranking video, and I hope to see more from you in future.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, that's really encouraging going forward. It's all a bit scary, and this will help. And yeah, after Stormwatch it really is a rocky road, but still some great songs here and there. And Broadsword and The Beast has been a revelation... it just suddenly clicked. I think it's one of their very best. Until the next one... Cheers!

Congratulations and good luck with your new channel, you did well. Some unusual ranking positions here, but I'm not going to comment, it's your list afterall, but it's great too see Stormwatch so high, it's a slow burner of an album and seems stronger with each passing year. Hopefully you will find this with A Passion Play sometime.

Thanks for sharing it's always interesting to see how others rank Tull releases, much i can relate to although my ordering is likely to be quite different, your most jarring comment was when you talked about Stormwatch which I too think is an excellent album, but the thought of removing "Home" from it is startling, this is not only my favourite song from the album but I think a standout Tull track and to me shows just how undervalued Anderson is as a songwriter, beautiful melody and perfectly crafted lyrics that is incredibly moving.
@OnlyForward12
@OnlyForward12 20 дней назад
I agree, Home is a great song - my bad for not making that clear - but I think it's awkwardly placed in the album. It would have worked great as the last song - a bit like Cheerio on Broadsword - and I suspect that was the original intention. But like I say, I understand why he gave the spot to Elegy. I also agree that Ian Anderson should be WAY more appreciated, especially in Britain. And great to hear from another Stormwatch fan, I think it's fabulous.
@robertjewell9727
@robertjewell9727 18 дней назад
I rather agree with Only Forward that Home should be the last song on the album closing it brilluantly since the other songs are about various forms of modern day turmoil where best to than home to meditate on it all.

Good effort. I've been a fan since 1972. Here's mine with my score out of 10, which is arrived at giving every track a vote out of 10 (in my opinion), averaging and then another vote out of 10 for album as a whole, then averaged again. As with all lists like this the choices are subjective relative to one's exposure to them at any particular time...I believe having the benefit of evolving with JT since 1968 to present day allows for a more objective sensibility...One must discern that any music catalog is of it's time and modern day sensibility will color one's liking or disliking... to each his own. JT is my favorite group in the rock genre but I think despite Ian's dedication to craft and desire to branch out creatively there are some works I (personally) just can't revisit...Rok Flote, Zealot Gene, TAAB2 (those first three are more like ditties than songs), Dot Com, Roots To Branches, Under Wraps and Catfish Rising are all tedious to varying degrees.
@OnlyForward12

I've been a HUGE Tull fanatic since first hearing Aqualung back in 1971, and thus find it interesting that I am in 100% agreement that the 7 'dog' albums you mention above are hardly worth the time ... but you inadvertently(?) left out "This Was".
@barryfields-h4v
@barryfields-h4v 11 дней назад
@@ijustgottasay1281 There are some LPs that one is exposed to at the time (of it's time surely) that resonates...It was a time of TOP 40 hit parade, Beatles, Turtles, Hermits, bubblegum pop and flower power....Along comes this new bluesy sound with interesting lyrics and varied tempos and motifs...and I could sense something was there...THIS WAS was aptly named...Ian KNEW this LP was not going to be the future of TULL...and Mick Abrahams split to do his own BLUES thing...and YES...I really like BLODWYN PIG and much of HIS solo work...STAND UP was a real revelation and BENEFIT knocked me out...and who could imagine those two works would later evolve into the master work that is AQUALUNG. So yes, compared to those works I can see that many would disregard THIS WAS....but it was a culmination of years of name changes & live performances that was honed into a cohesive collection that was reflective of their place in THAT time...MANY Thanks for responding...I really do appreciate your point of view.
