I saw them live in Melbourne only about a year after the album came out. Anderson was dressed as Aqualung. A riveting performance throughout, with Ian Anderson a commanding presence. The concert ended with total darkness and a solitary telephone rang, quietening the crowd. A spotlight came on Anderson, and he picked up the receiver and held it out to the adoring audience and whispered: 'It's for you'😆

Nobody has mentioned the uniquely gifted Eddie Jobson, who toured with them several times (including on this tour) and played several instruments within a single song: electric violin, keyboards, and mandolin.

I am so fortunate to be able to witness 3 Tull concerts right after each of these 3 albums were released: Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play. The shows I saw were all in my best friends area (Kansas City) and EVERY one of these shows are at the top of my list as being the absolute Best concerts I ever attended. I even saw Cream when I was in 6th grade and it was unbelievable, but these Jethro Tull shows were insanely fantastic! This popped up in my recommendations. I’ve heard of them but never listened to them until now. Boy, I am sorry it took me so long! Phenomenal!

Drugs don’t add anything that isn’t there already. It’s just inhibitions and lack of imagination.

The first time I saw him was in 1973 on TV . Every Saturday morning Don Kershners Rock Concert was on. And I saw him play,Too old to Rock and Roll, Too young to Die. And he poured beer all over himself. After that I was sold on Him

@@TD06071951 Craney has cut gigs with Jean Luc Ponty and Gino Vannelli where he would make Barriemore look like a toilet. Dont even put Barlow in the same sentence as Craney.

I saw Jethro Tull in San Antonio, 1980, during this tour. Def Leppard was in the US for the first time and opened up, followed by Whitesnake and then Jethro Tull. Looking back on it, it was kind of like the great music of the 1970's opening the door to the 1980's music and the Hair Band stuff. No wonder Ian Anderson and the Tull crew wore spacesuit type clothing and had the spaceship theme, they were probably wishing that they could jettison BACK in time to 1970 and do it all over again!!!

Mark Craney was such a fun drummer to watch! An overlooked drum master from the Midwest...tragically, he died of pneumonia in 2005. But he left behind this amazing vid of Aqualung. I went looking for it purposely just now, remembering it as an inspiration from decades ago. Thanks Mark, and thanks to Remy for posting.
