Jethro Tull, truly unique covered a wide range of styles and sound in their career. The most eccentric frontman of them all, the mad Scotsman Ian Anderson . Absolute legends, love them✌️
UNVERGÄNGLICH ! War gut, ist gut und wird es immer sein. Ich liebte IAN ANDERSON und Mannen schon als ganz junger Bursche und das wird auch so bleiben. Siempre !
there were plenty of groups who were "cool"er (zeppelin), quite a number who were more popular, (stones, beatles, floyd) at least one who could boast of every member writing hit songs (queen) plenty who were just amazing in one way or another, and tons who "rocked harder" blah blah blah (hundreds of names here) but was there ANYONE better than TULL? Name ONE other group whose music gets better and MORE UNIQUE over time, while so many others have been copied or sound just like a dozen other groups. Name another whose lyrics are better than poetry, more perfect than scripture, more relevant than time itself??? With Tull you are REALLY NEVER TOO OLD to rock and roll, cause I'm pretty sure that's what they play in heaven. In hell, it's there, but hopelessly out of tune.
Great thing about Jethro Tull is that they have never aged: they look as tired and shitty today as they did on the cover of "This Was." Good music, though.
@superunt43 I 'm not on any "crusade" , just stating an obvious factor why Ian's voice might not be what it use to be. However, judging by your comment, it sure sounds like you have some sort of deep rooted emotional issue with your smoking addiction. Hope you can get a handle on it. Take care.
Why doesn't Ian do the obvious thing and just change the key of the song? Sadly, most singers have to do it at some point in their lives. The voice just can't do what it could when you're younger. Fact of life. The voice is still an instrument so tune it down to a key that can be sustained. Just a thought Ian !! You're still great though mate.
Problem is, all the band members probably worn out all there old instruments and got new ones, but old Ian still trying to use the same old vocal cords. It didn't help that he was (is?) a smoker. He already started losing his voice in the 80s. I was 15 when I started listening to Jethro Tull, I still listen to their old songs, guess the song is true. :)
@superunt43 The not so wonderful singing is why I mentioned the smoking. The music is fine. You obviously have taken it very personally, that's an emotional issue, not a physical issue. Sorry if you can't handle it dude.
