MGS2: lmao who's this loser? Where's Snake? MGS4: Oh ok, he's a cyborg now. I guess that's pretty cool. Revengeance: This man is the coolest organic being on planet Earth
Canonically the last Metal Gear game in the series, at least it had a nice ending, especially for a character no one liked at the start of his journey, to becoming the coolest living thing in the universe, Raiden is the dictionary term for "Glow Up", thank you Nanomachines.
A reason I don't enjoy this game as a canonical end to the Metal Gear story is that it shows that Snake's world is still kinda dismal even after he stopped Ocelot, Outer Haven, etc :-( Although, I admit, having PMCs still exist after Snake retires is realistic.
@@spfinfini I like the idea it represents - there is no greater enemy, no conspiracy, no outside factor. It's just the nature of humanity running its course. Hell, makes you think about whether the Patriots were really that bad, or humanity needed an inhibitor to their worst instincts and memes.
@@thosebloodybadgers8499 I agree! The themes of MGS:R, while minimal, are unfortunately true in many parts of our lives. Left to their own devices, I don't doubt that some people would prefer collective violence over peace and rational cooperation. The real power of the Patriots was to manipulate and weaponize the fear and anger already present in civilians and politicians so that their legacy could thrive well beyond the actions of Solid Snake.
The Uncomplicator but thats what he means...... sam character was developed so well. He was a mercenary, never agreed with desperado’s ideologies, he had his own mission
@@Dorkster81 imagine a whole fleshed out game and one of the missions or even the last is Sam taking down the drug cartel. All of this without cybernetics and a regular murasama
Mikael Kula That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I would’ve loved to play a whole game with Sam and just the regular Murasama while wandering the around the world just before cybernetics became available to the public. And maybe then have a mission where he gets the suit and the sheath upgrades midway through the game?
This game is so dope. Personally love how the first boss that tests whether you'll like the game isn't the giant metal gear. It's a dog with a chainsaw.
@@greenblobfish9992 they're not hard by any means(that goes for the entire game actually) they're just annoying cause you can't brute force them as easily as the other bosses
@@michael6880 Monsoon is like one of the best fights in the game, those 7 hit parry chains and multi direction parries when he splits make you feel like a god lol And I found you can just knock Bladewolf down and kick his ass in a stunlock chain. Tbh all of the bosses are pretty simple if you take some time to study them.
I remember that once, I was playing through the game again and hit the first Sam fight, and I decided to just try and swing on him as much as possible after losing Raiden's arm. Now, he blocks or dodges you when you do this, you can't really hit him. But, I swung, and he dodged, and when I turned to follow him with the camera, he was gone. Nowhere on the train. So, I was about to quit out, disappointed since this meant starting the beginning segment all over again. But as I looked around one last time, I noticed a speck, a dot, at the end of the tunnel. It was Sam. HURTLING THROUGH THE AIR. And as I watched in shock, I realized a.) he must have dodged off the train and b.) he was slowly getting closer. So I stood there, cheering him on, as he caught up to the train to complete his jump attack: "C'mon on! Do it you, you beautiful bastard! Kill me! I'm right here!" Please tell me if anyone else ever had this happen, because it was amazing.
That last dialogue is so similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger's dialogue to the Predator when he was baiting Predator to kill him which was actually a ruse to get him in trap.
This game still looks and plays amazing! The only downside is being way too short but overall it’s one of my favourites in the genre during that generation.
Oh no, it's coming! I can't hold it much longe- MEMORIES BROKEN, THE TRUTH GOES UNSPOKEN, I'VE EVEN FORGOTTEN MY NAAAAAAME; I DON'T KNOW THE SEASON OR WHAT IS THE REASON, I'M STANDING HERE HOLDING MY BLAAAADE
"It's just Montréal construction; we can't move ahead." Still flows better than Montréal construction congestion. And nowhere near enough orange cones in that city to be Montréal. (Let's petition to have the city flag changed to an orange cone. Feels more appropriate.)
Metal gear rising is definitely one of the most influential games to me personally creatively I love robots and over the top action. Another one I’m obsessed with is asuras wrath for similar reasons.
Abkhazia is actually a real place; it's a de facto state that most nations recognize as part of Georgia (the country on the Black Sea, not the southern U.S. state).
It's so funny seeing this video being very recent because I bought this a month ago and just 100% S ranked the hardest difficulty the same day this was uploaded. Amazing game, I recommend it if you're a hack and slash fan. It's a bit short but it's meant to be played in Revenguence difficulty. It's so fun once you master the game.
I love the fact that almost all of Raiden's body is hi-tech cyborg enhancements EXCEPT for his eye. Just a bandage and he's all set for choppy choppy the bad men.
@@ignaciocarreno8379 and the only reason Doktor just didn't give him a cyborg eye was because he didn't have enough time to make one before he returned to the field.
This game was the equivalent of wetwork for Platinum and it turned into literally one of the greatest action games of all time, it’s up there with Bayonetta 1 and Devil May Cry 5.
The default version of MGRR on PC doesn't support 4k or odd resolutions. For anyone who is looking to fix this there is a mod that patches in custom resolutions as well as removed the games film grain which will be low res even at 4k.
One of my absolute favorite games of all time. This game was a dream come true for me. I loved Raiden in MGS4 and wanted a game where you played as that version of Raiden. I also always wanted a game where you choose where you cut and have incredibly destructive game mechanics. The music is S tier. The gameplay S tier. The story... S tier because nanomachines, senator Armstrong, Jetstream Sam, etc. It's a shame that we'll probably never get the sequel that was teased all those years ago. It's crazy to me that there aren't more games with Blade Mode as a mechanic because if it was in a game made today it would be insane! I love this game. I love your What Happened on this game and this was a great video. I am definitely going to play Rising tomorrow for the first time in a long time.
I agree same is awesome he's not even a full cyborg but can keep up with modern day military grade cyborgs plus metal gear ray and he earned his bones by tryna kill Armstrong at least he got a new arm out of it
I'd say the cold open's been somewhat a series staple since MGS2. 2: Tanker Chapter, obviously. 3: Virtuous Mission, obviously. 4: This is a bit of a weird one, but I'd say it still sort of counts in that it throws you right into an action setpiece before taking a break to show the mission briefing and explain the context of what's already going on before returning to the present. PW: Again, not a huge time divide between this and the rest of the story, but before Steveblum Traitorovich Thedoorknob gives you Mother Base, Snake has that mission to confirm that the CIA is bringing nukes into Costa Rica, so starting from the little shack on the Colombian shore before moving all operations to an offshore plant still serves as a sort of context divide. V: Hospital. You could arguably extend it to the mission to rescue Kaz, but the hospital's the really obvious one. Unless you want to go back even further and say Ground Zeroes.
The sword is awesome yes but the sheath is where the cool shit goes on! It's a hybrid between a traditional sheath and an M4 rifle. Inside the magazine are blank rounds that when fired create enough pressure to launch the sword out of the sheath and into Sam's hand if timed well enough
Wasn't there an achievement for cutting off Blade Wolf's chainsaw tail in blade mode and nothing else? Like it only had to be his tail. I can't remember, i might be thinking about something entirely different
