I go offshore out there all the time and I always fished on the smaller jeti across the channel I have a question to do you ever get any snook there I’ve only gotten flounder snapper stingray stuff like that also 🔥🔥video
Hi, I go to Daytona a time or two per year. The only fishing I've done is Sunglow Pier and the Head Boat at Ponce. Could you tell me a couple of places, other than the surf, to fish from the shore or jetties? Thanks a bunch. And NICE Reds!
For targeting big reds on the inlet side i was using a 5000 penn battle 2 with power pro super slick 40lb braid paired with a 10ft star rod and the rig was 60lb florocarbon leader Carolina rig with a 8oz egg weight and a # 3/0 to 5/0 circle hook depending on my bait size, for sheephead close in to the rocks I was using a 3000 penn battle 2 on a 7ft penn rod, 30lb leader carolina rig, 1oz egg weight with a small j hook.
I never fished out there. Need some help..... What you I’d tackle do you recommend out there? Hooks (circle? J? What size? Type of weights ( circle? pyramid? flats?) 3,4,5,6 oz? Bait? Live shrimp, live sand fleas, fish bites, salted clams?
brothergodfrey1 it depends on what fish you are targeting, when I fish for big redfish on the inlet side I use a Carolina rig with a 8 oz weight and a size 3/0 -5/0 circle hooks with cut bait like mullet blue fish or live mullet the heavy weight is for the crazy amount of current, it is very tough to get baits to stick and not get stuck. I also use pyramid weights some times but mostly eggs. I use live sand fleas or shrimp for sheep head with a 1oz weight and a #1 J hook. You can use pretty much anything on the beach side of the jetty if it’s a calm day, can’t go wrong with a live shrimp on a Carolina rig though.
