If a person or group of people is killed or massacred, and your first instinct is to get defensive, or think “yeah, but…”, then at some level you have dehumanized those people to the point where you can no longer empathize with them. This is a dark, dark place to be mentally, and it’s how the worst atrocities in our history have always begun. Don’t dehumanize your fellow man. Have empathy.

There have been a lot of these videos and posts. I've had friends make similar Facebook posts. None of them created follow-ups as time went on. I don't expect to see one here either.
I agree that there should be a follow up. Calling out attrocities by one side is perfectly reasonable, but doing so without also acknowledging attrocities of the other side makes you seem like a hypocrite, even if you aren't actually one. It's why it's best to just not comment on the situation at all, because it's such a charged topic that no matter what you say, you're gonna end up angering half the people. Almost everything he said in the video could easily be understood without knowing which side he's talking about, but the fact that he does take a side leaves a bad aftertaste.

Well it’s also about history and who gets to divide land and resources. A lot of Europe decided that those countries were superior enough in their minds to be able to take over land and distribute it despite people living there before they got there. The League of Nations has inherent problems. So while I agree with you about projection etc, it is also rooted in a long history of European colonialism.

It’s disturbing how many people are not able to see each side of this conflict as HUMANS. You can want justice for Palestinians and also condemn Hamas for their disgusting crimes.
