These time controls are about as long as they get currently. I think that it has more to do with the fact that, unlike chess, we are not professional Hive players and so we have real jobs and have to find time to play Hive. I think that few of the top players could find 4 or 5 hours to play, particularly when the players are 4+ time zones apart.
