1996... bad, bad breakup. I rented a beat-up, ramshackle house in a rough neighborhood. I furnished it with Salvation Army furniture and yard sale finds. I hated having days off from work. I'd walk from room to room , listening to this, thinking I'd never be okay again. Eventually i was, but this song carried me through that winter.
90s music just hits different. I typically doc not enjoy pop but Jewel is good and i love Grunge and shoegaze. Indie and that sweet OG 90's emo. So much beautiful both in the mainstream and not, that's still being discovered. It's my favorite era for music tbh
I found this because even though I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before, it still feels familiar to me as if I heard it a thousand times before. I heard my mom sing along to it in the living room from my bed and a feeling of familiarity washed over me. Idk how but somewhere I heard this before…
It be songs like this and "Nothing Compares to You" that I be asking, like who are they singing too. They must be terrific for this to come out from inspiration.
jewel I love this song so much thank you my mother showed me it and I loved it I know it off by heart its amazing what a single song can do but this ain't a single ITS THE BEEEEEEEEST
An intentionally bittersweet song, but in my opinion beset by sappy, saccharine, cloying lyrics all too SWEEEETTT! And subject to making your diabetic coma warrant. As nauseating as when Rod McKuen wrote and composed "I Think Of You" for Perry Como in 1970. That too was victimized by syrupy, little child-happy lyrics, but at least showed SOME restraint where due, yet being a Como fan, I would still do my digestive system a favor. But "You Were Meant For Me" makes me run so fast for the head, that it's miraculous Gloria Estefan wasn't the artist! I just got violently ill; that made it easier to be up front where this song is concerneGE....MY EGGO PANCAKES AN MY POACHED EGGS, AN' THIS SONG HAVE ME BACK TO THE HEAD.......E-EGGG-GGG-O!!!
