Jewellery Advice and Info. Titanium Rings = No 

I’ve had my titanium wedding band for 6 years now. No issues. It’s light weight so I barely notice it’s on, cost me $20, it’s wayyy stronger than any other metal and will never be damaged by anything I do. It’s a win win for me

I got Titanium wedding bands and I could not be happier. They're strong, they've lasted and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Yeah, they cannot be resized but once you're on your 30's the only change you'll see in your hands will be wrinkles! So thanks for your opinion but no thanks

titanium rings are so cheap even if you cant resize it you can buy a new one, not like a gold ring which u wish u never bought

Titanium rings have no fatal flaws. A quality Titanium band costs $25 dollars vs $1,000 for a platinum band so just buy a new Titanium band. Its so light you don't feel it, keeps its shine, and so strong you don't have to take it off at anytime unlike gold, platinum, and most other bands. Resizing is only a flaw for those paid to resize rings because Titanium reduces their business.

I own 7 titanium rings and I have had 5 of them for 4 years now, I don’t recall talking them off for anything honestly. They are definitely strong and unbreakable.

The main issue with engineering metals used for rings is removal in an emergency. Resizing is the very least of issues with engineering metal rings, in my opinion.

My husband and I got married with tungsten rings. We kept them but our actual rings we wear are white gold. I tried to get my white gold ring resized and the jeweler botched it so badly that they had to order me a brand new replacement ring. My point is that my ring wasn’t resizable even when it was white gold. I don’t trust jewelers now.

Stoked with my titanium ring. Resizing is the only downside but my weight doesn’t fluctuate that much so it hasn’t been a problem.

If it's a basic looking Ti ring, you can easily buy it in 5 different sizes and still save a lot of money compared to a gold ring you have to get resized and replated every couple years. If you like the color of Titanium, go for it. It's a great choice.

Totally disagree. I have an heirloom gold ring band for myself. I tried wearing it and it was not comfortable. So i bought both a tungston and titanium ring. They are great. Much more comfortable, and look great. Also If i need it resized I will just buy a new one. I only spent 25-30 dollars on them.

I found this video whilst simply trying to find out "how hard is Silver"... This video however is very interesting and useful, but doesn't cover some other metals, I know someone who has a Palladium ring, and in a warehouse scratched the steel racking with the ring, whilst the ring was undamaged... The reverse would have been bad with a Gold or Silver, likely horrible.! Either way, its down to the tool for the job IMHO, if you are a Warehouse Monkey, then gold or Silver is IMHO not an option without constantly taking it off and on, so go with something hard, and you can always do this as "your daily", whilst keeping you Gold ring for conditions that are safe and secure... IMHO, for such jobs I believe that two rings are the best solution, one for fancy/daily, and one for hard-work/daily. . PS: I am still looking for someone to simply say or demonstrate how hard (soft) Silver is in its (999.9) grade. Many Thanks.

I use sandpaper everyday so I'm concerned about scratching up my ring but I've also heard that titanium and tungsten rings will break if they get hit on a hard surface which will likely happen. I do paint and body repair. Any advice?

Gold is overrated. It's soft. Can only be used as an alloy (doped with copper). It's expensive. Rare. Can be easily scratched and broken. Titanium is one of the strongest metals. SR-71 blackbird was built with Titanium. Formula 1 cars use Titanium pistons in their engines. You can tie two strings on either side of the titanium ring and you'll be able to pull 2 Boeing 747s fully loaded. Does not corrode, does not oxidise at ambient temperatures. Titanium forms an oxide layer at high temperatures, but you'll love it. It has a bluish tint of oxide layer. It's super cool. It also has one of the highest melting point and does not react with most of the strong acids. And it's the lightest and strongest metal. Lighter than aluminium. Titanium is the super-metal. Engineers love it. Russian Titanium is abundant and easily available. With the right tools, and right expertise, you can work with Titanium easily.

Have a set of titanium rings on order, as promise rings. for that purpose I think it's great, but your point about resizing I had not considered.. when it's time for something more permanent I may have to reconsider

I had a palladium wedding ring and it fell off before I could get it resized and lost it I can’t bring myself to get another one after losing it due to the cost so I’m going to switch the a tungsten ring due to cost I would rather have another palladium ring but I can’t warrant the price now.

I go titanium and stainless because they are a lot more scratch resistant than silver, not as ugly as gold, and not as expensive as platinum etc.

My tantalum ring was resized 3 x so far 😂

You are getting scammed by jewelers who don't price jewelry based on purity of gold. 9kt is generally laughed at in most Asian and Arabic countries. 9kt is only 38% gold. Even 14kt is low, Chinese and Indians go for 24kt or 22kt. Some Europeans like Italians prefer 18kt. Yes the higher the purity and weight the pricer the item. While many jewllers will tell you 22 and 24kt are too soft, so why do the Indians and Chinese have no issues with it. Also don't fall for the, making charges. Sure it's a business but ethics are globally lacking with so many jewellers. Majority of modern day jewlery is not hand made. Check the internet for gold prices based on KT and negotiate. Yes negotiate, if they won't find another shop. To give you a example based on today's price 1 gram of 9kt gold is going for $28 USD. 1 gram of 24kt gold is going for almost $60 USD. Wedding band probably has 4 to 5 grams max. Do the math and understand how you're being taken.
