I haven't read every comment from every video, but you lovely ladies attract the most thoughtful, kind, enthusiastic, and pleasant people I've ever seen in one place. The true treasures here are the two of you--thank you, Gail and Alex.

Thank you for not only digging out the finds, but for also digging out the background stories of the items giving us a glimpse of real life lived over 100 years ago.

Oftentimes, when I watch your videos, I think you aren't digging up objects; you are digging up stories. You find the smallest obscure bits- a cracked bottle or broken pipe bowl- and yet you take the time to appreciate it, clean it up, research it, and find the human story behind the artifact. What beauty, what marvelous attention to detail, what patience to do the work, find the story and present it to the world. I look forward to your videos as they are guaranteed to bring joy. Thank you!

I agree, stories from the earth. Nicola White, of Tideline Art, calls the Thames a liquid storybook. The extra work to tell us a bit of history when they can is greatly appreciated, specially when I'm way over here in Oregon, USA. and much of their history is new and in a way the history before us white people came over here and took over.

That small piece of pewter of the Japanese guy is holding the lucky turtle Minogame. The strange thing about Minogame is its tail is made out of seaweed and algae. It's a very old Japanese legend and represents wisdom.

This is so interesting, with the knobs on the backside it may have been a shalloe decorative dish? Something for incense, a key or coins perhaps?

Thank You Saddaddrummer, for being the one in a million that would see this video, know this very old Japanese legend and share it with us. Some call it kismet or perhaps coincidence, as if things just happened a certain way for no apparent reason. I prefer to think of it as synchronicity. The way I describe it, is situations becoming a reality because of the actions and reactions of virtually everything and everyone leading up to that moment. ( :

Your love for each other is rare, as is the shared passion for art, history, craftsmanship, and the thrill of the hunt! Lovely. If I’m not in the room when he realizes you have a new video out, I will hear him call out “Helllooo babe! New video!” in the highest octave his manliness can get to. Such interesting finds this week ladies. This river certainly is great for delivering the more unusual finds. That pocket watch case would make a lovely frame surround, for a piece of the beautiful pottery that you found. I guessed the small square chalk piece straight away, as a que dice for chalking the end of a snooker que. My dad used to play the game and he always had one in his pocket. As always, i enjoy the bits of history you find out about some of the items you find. Always interesting to hear the stories you tell. It brings the items to life a bit more i think. I look forward to seeing what you do with the items you found some day. Thanks as always for taking us along on your lark. I enjoy our larks out with you both very much. ☺ x

Interesting in that you find all these whiskey bottles and flasks. Could only have come down from Scotland after the 1606 ascension of King James VI of Scotland/I of the United Kingdom and the Scots coming down into England with their whiskey drinking manners. Before that, it was only in 1548 (sic?) that my ancestral Hertford shire was granted the first (royal?) alehouse along the London city - Berkamsted castle highway for travellors and inn clients. Anybody else brewing mash or distilled herbal spirits would have been the religious houses of the abbeys, cloisters, priors, etc. taken down by King Henry (500s-1534).

As soon as you found that moon-shaped piece of glass, l imagined it as a necklace. I could see it with a cap on each end, partly decorated and a dedicated neck chain attached to each end. Well girls l had to laugh when you found that tiny peacock head, not the duck as l was calling out "Schwoo, Schwoo" can't you see, it's Schwoo. Bye for now. Love ❤ to all.
