When you were talking about how we're always learning, it reminded me of a scene in the episode Country Girls of Little House on the Prairie. It was Mary and Laura's first day of school. Laura asked how long all this learning going to take. Ma (Caroline) says we start learning the minute we're born and if we're wise, we don't stop until the Lord calls us home.
So touching to see Mr. Firefly taking baby Firefly off your hands so you could finish your morning prayers. You seem more rested now with the decrease to weekly uploads. So glad to see you taking care of yourself.
Baby Firefly choosing which food he wants, from the package, eating kiwifruit and dragon fruit, and cutting a tooth! It seems like only days ago he was born.
My mother in law always said there is nothing worse than waking up to a dirty kitchen😊. But I understand tired is tired! Glad you kept on! ❤ What beautiful platters . When you first said you eat things from trees, my mind went blank, I thought what comes from trees? fruits and nuts just like you said.🙄😂
I’m not Jewish, but I think this holiday is so beautiful. As a nature lover (who’s pretty crunchy), I love the idea of thanking God for the trees and all they provide. Congrats on your leaning accomplishment! What a blessing!
I saw that you use CLOTHESPINS as chip clips!!! So do we. Clothespins have so many uses other than using them for hanging wet clothes outside. Do you ever hang clothes outside?? I no longer have a clothesline. Thx for sharing your day with us. Love your giggles and sweet smiles!!!
A tooth! 🦷 And "He's so big already", I thought when he sat in his chair thing and you gave him the snack/breakfast. And I like that scene around 6:47, where we see you and a little yellow leg. 🥰🥰🥰 And: Great new study room for your kids! You might have had to give up your living room, but this is just a wonderful environment for your kids to learn. And: Congrats on finishing studying Nevi'im! And next time you study the Prophets you will even discover amazing new insights. And: Tu Bishvat is such a cool holiday! And to celebrate it by eating all those yummy fruits ...
I spent 8 months studying Psalms. One per day. It was a huge accomplishment! So I get it. It took me 2.5 months to do Proverbs since many of the long ones took me 2-3 days each to study. Now I am on the gospels. I also am doing a 52 week study of the entire Bible. RecentLy reread Ruth, which is my favorite OT book. But I’m beginning to really enjoy Genesis now, after two Bible studies on it and having read it 4 times in a year. Elizabeth Goudge is one of my favorite authors. You’ll love Little White Horse.
Make way for ducklings was my favorite book as a kid. If you ever go to Boston, ride the swan boats and in the park there is actually a statue of the ducks. My copy was given to me by a dear family friend when I was probably 2 and I saved it, tattered and torn as it is for my kids when they were little. Its probably one of my most prized books. I love your holiday celebration. The bounty of nature is truly something to celebrate and how lovely that the trees get their own holiday!
Congratulations on making your siyum!! 🎉❤ It’s so great seeing you a bit more rested and maybe a little less RU-vid’d out lol Your Monday videos are still my fave way to start a Monday morning!
Tu bishvat also known as "The trees birthday"🤗 When I was a kid, every year in kindergarten and in elementary school we used to go and plant baby trees in the woods. That is so much fun! I remember how excited I was! This is happening every year all over Israel and it's very good for the environment and and for the nature! 🌿☘️🌱 ט"ו בשבט שמח! By the way your fruit plates looks amazing!! 🍊🍒🍇🥝
My husband walked past as you were telling one of the kids that you didn't know a lot about bogs and would look it up, he paused to smile and said it would have been nice to have you as a teacher when he was young. My husband was one of the children who constantly asked why, not to be annoying but because he really wanted to know. Unfortunately, especially before the internet was a big thing, not everyone was willing to find out why or how something worked.
Oh wow that makes my heart happy and sad at the same time. Happy that I’m doing something right and sad that your husband didn’t have the answers he wanted. The internet definitely makes a difference. I think we would have some huge list of questions and be regular library people if we didn’t. But that wouldn’t be an option for a class at school so much.
@@jaroffireflies, back before the Internet, you would have had a set of encyclopedias and a World Almanac at home to answer a lot of questions. Only the questions you couldn't find answers for there would get written down to check at the library. Even so, the Internet is a blessing for those of us who are always curious about everything.
Your eyes really look lovely with that scarf! And your garden plan will totally work - for years I have used cardboard to be able to take care of a large garden. Worms love to come eat the cornstarch in the cardboard!!!
Chana, I just have to say, your tips and sharing your experiences in terms of homemaking has helped me in my own homemaking and getting into a routine. I struggled after working for 7yrs and becoming a Mom again after 10yrs to be a SAHM and homemaker again. It is motivating and inspiring. Thank you!
Hi Chana! What a lovely holiday and what a wonderful way to celebrate! Congratulations on your major accomplishment! So impressive, I am sure it would have taken me much longer! You are an awesome person to juggle family, school, home, and personal growth, and spiritual growth all at the same time, Wow! As always a pleasure to watch and learn.....
How lovely to start Monday morning with you and all the other Fireflies, large and small! You’ve inspired me to focus this day on trying to really see all the trees around me, and to enjoy being grateful for all their gifts. Thank you.
Chan's, your positive attitude just amazes me. Your ability to juggle so many things on a daily basis is inspiring. I am retired and past my child rearing days and I get tired just watching your videos. 😄 I am in a Bible study at my church and I'm learning so much about Jewish history. Makes me want to learn more about the Christian church history. Blessings to you and all the Fireflies! 🤗
Mazel Tov on reaching your learning milestone! I am such a believer in celebrating adult learning! 24 years ago I studied for 2 years and became an adult Bat Mitzvah. Just about the greatest decision I ever did just for me! I so admire that you find time to study, Chana!
wow! that all looks so yummy, and you out-Martha Martha Stewart on the fruit platter! that green head scarf looks very good on you and makes your eye colour pop! as for what tree food i like most... i am not ashamed to admit i will fight you over any and all olives! 😉😂❤🫒
Many congrats!! The national animal of Scotland is a unicorn. So many fruits to enjoy and the colours too. In my church - we learnt about Hebrew hope too.
Bless you and your lovely family, thank you for sharing slices of your life with us. And congratulations on doing so well with your studies! Your dedication is very admirable, not only as a personal way to deepen your understanding and your connection with your faith, but also as being a role model to your children. They might not understand yet but in time, I'm sure they're appreciate what a gift it is to have an educated mother that values learning, personal self-development and the humility that comes with recognizing there's always more to know.
The colours of the fruit were beautiful and it's wonderful to thank god for the trees that provide it. My favourites are cherries strawberries Raspberries With which I make Cranachan a Scottish dessert with oats and cream
Being someone who is obsessed with Nature, I love this celebration of New Year for the Trees! Judaism has so many celebrations, and I love to hear and learn about them all. It was a very good idea to have eaten lunch before going food shopping .. so you don't over-buy because you're famished .. been there, done that, many times myself. I'm glad you didn't have to wake up to a messy kitchen .. I've also been there before, too, being too spent after a late night of eating and fellowship to clean up, only to face the dread the next morning. You make very good choices! How coincidental -- I just finished reading the Book of Esther and the Book of Ruth this weekend .. then I was in Genesis reading about Leah and Rachel; and today I have planned to read in Genesis about Jacob. Your fruit platter looks gorgeous with all those bright, lovely colors. I love peaches, oranges, pears, grapes .. and I like my fruit hard, biting into a grape that snaps when you chomp it! Dragon Fruit looks like it has all these little ants inside the flesh .. creeps me out a bit, haha! Eek! 🐜🐜🐜 I have many Filipino friends here in the YT community and they have a fun custom in their culture called a Boodle Fight. A Boodle Fight is a communal feast where they place banana leaves on a long table and they eat without using any utensils. The term Boodle Fight originated from the Philippine military, where a big pile of food is served on a long table in the mess hall, and they all feast with bare-hand style eating, a Filipino tradition called kamayan, whose literal meaning is "by hand". All of the food is arranged around the table purposefully so that everyone has equal access to all of the different foods .. so no reaching across the table to take a food that's not within grasp; no one has to walk around the table to search for any food .. every section of the table contains all the foods that are offered. Imagine you and your best girlfriends sitting - or standing - around the table enjoying a Boodle Fight! I haven't tried it yet, but I've watched so many videos of people having a Boodle Fight and it looks like so much fun!
Hello Judi! I am so glad you like this holiday! Its definitely a fun one and pretty relatable :) Enjoy your reading and thank you for sharing about the Boodle Fight! What fun!
It must be happening to Mums/Grandmas around the world - I am dragging through the day today too! Iris has had croup, the poor little thing. It was not as bad as Minnie May in "Anne of Green Gables - and I don't have ipecac anyway - but she has been miserable. Today she is back to normal and I want to lie down. 🙂But as you say - you have to do the things. I love seeing the joy on your face, it is radiant, showing your love and respect for your study and for God, after reaching this milestone. Congratulations!!!
Hi Cate! Oh poor Iris! We say in Hebrew "Refuah l shlema" which is an expression to wish one who is sick a whole and complete recovery, so refuah shlema to Iris! Glad she is on the mend and I hope you get some rest too! Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Baby Firefly! Time is passing too fast! He is beautiful! I love your dining chairs, have they always been like this? It looks so beautiful and makes your dining room so inviting! I love the way trees are planted in Israel. People don't realise the land in Israel was very swampy and not great for crops or even habitation so the mitzvah of planting trees has become so important and Israel plants more trees than anyone else. I don't remember the exact numbers but it warms my heart. Sorry it's just a huge run-on sentence! Peace to you, in all you do... Congratulations on Nevi'im! The Shehecheyanu is my favourite blessing...idk why but maybe because it was a part of my first mikvah.
Thank you so much Michele! Yes, baby firefly is growing so fast! And I too love the tree planting in Israel at this holiday :) So wonderful :) Thank you for giving more information about that!
How beautiful do your fruit & nut platters look, such a variety. Were there any you or the children didn't like ? personally I am not keen on Lychee I think its the texture, my favourite are peaches 😊Enjoyed your fancy editing in the car, handle, seat belt etc, didn't go unnoticed 😉
Thank you so much Clare! Especially about the fancy editing 😊 I love doing that lol For the fruit, nobody but me really loved the papaya, but they tried everything!
Oh my goodness your oldest son is getting so tall and grown up. You have a beautiful family. Baby. Firefly is adorable. God bless your family. Love your blogs.
Hi Chana, we have had successful gardens over the last 24 years, not all but many, add mushroom soil to your garden it should help. Good luck this summer season. Have a wonderful week. 😊
Hi Chana and family. Congratulations on your accomplishments, beautiful fruit trays and delicious. My favorite fruits are apples, peaches, grapes, and bananas and others. You look great even if you are tired. You are a mommy of four kids and they all need their mom. I love when Mr. Firefly came and took the baby when you where studying in the morning. Take care and glad y'all had a wonderful holiday.

Oh my goodness 3 months! Wow! Mine have all been around now :) Thank you about the garden! I have been getting very into plants lately and am so excited for the garden after my break last year. The aloe plant is getting quite large and has made little baby aloes! I need to repot them all soon enough :)
I love these type of holidays. I use them as conversation starters with my granddaughter's homeschool. What food comes from trees? So we inventoried our refrigerator. (Nothing from trees there) , moved to cupboards. 😆
Such a great and healthy way to celebrate this holiday. Mr fireflies was such so sweet to take care of baby fireflies. Anf congratulations on your journey with your readings.Have a great week and a peaceful shabbat. See you on you tube next monday.
I love pineapple , cherry strawberry, euhm almost any fruit. I love the idea of this hollyday. Being thankfull for what nature bring us every spring. And you teach the kids that fruits and nuts are something to celebrate so good food habits. Love the New classroom. I would love to have you as a teacher, especialy the honest answer I need to Google that. I love that children learn that adults are not perfect don't know everything, I always tried to give that lesson to my kids as well. You are such a good mum and such a Lovely person. Thank you for the video. It always put a Smile on my face
Thank you so much Sigrid :) Children definitely need to know that we are not perfect. That is way too much pressure on us and our kids. I appreciate your kind words :)
Chana, you are truly an amazing woman, wife, mom, and teacher. You are my virtual friend from whom I've learned so much about your branch of Judaism. I am in a Bible study at my church and I'm learning so much about Jewish history. It makes me want to dive more into the history of the Christian church. Blessings to the Firefly family! 🤗
GM, Jar of Fire Flies, Enjoy this video, Thank you explain about The Tree Holiday. I was interested in it. Learn something new about tree's and fruit and also nuts. Like the way you use space for your son's school work. Awesome idea. I see baby fire fly is enjoy table food . Your children are growing up so fast. Like your head piece and the color went well with your outfits. Shalom, Peace be until you and your family. 🛐🕎🔯💐🎉🎊🪅🙌🏾🙏✌️👊👐👌👍👼🏾😇🎉🏃🏾♀️🕎👏🇮🇱🙃🤗. Enjoy the rest of your work week. Be encouraged and bless. You're Welcome.
Good morning Chana. Congratulations on your accomplishment finishing the prophets. Congratulations to baby FF for his first tooth! Yah 😊 your fruit and nut tray looked yummy. I like all kinds of fruit. Just don’t eat much fresh fruit. I tend to buy the frozen fruit in the bag. My favorite nuts are almonds and walnuts. The school room looks so colorful and relaxing. I spotted Bella laying there on a blanket. She looked relaxed. Of course baby firefly had to let us know he was there! So adorable. Hope he is enjoying riding in the car more. Hope you all have a wonderful week! 😊
how wonderful! Happy Tu bishvat! I honestly feel blessed all the time between having my wonderful family and the fact i am lucky enough to enjoy the foods that trees and land provide...Glad to see you take time for yourself and balancing family!.. ohya the only thing missing for me is pommegranites which i LOVELOVELOVE
Oh I saw pomegranates at the store because I really really wanted them at our table but they looked awful and were leaking so I didn't buy them, so sad!
I remember this holiday from last year!! I believe I told you about the Enya song: "In Memory of the Trees". It still seems appropriate for this holiday?
