... in politics. In his own words, the soon to be President-elect records verbal notes, presumably for a future book. The dictabelt tape recordings were never intended for public consumption, it's just JFK thinking aloud to himself.
I shaved off 3 minutes of mispronunciations, errors in speaking, "ah's", long pauses, etc. The only downside to that is that you can't hear the wheels in his head turning as much, which is interesting.

I took me forever to find this video. I saw it a while ago, and it was berried quite deep.

Hours? I put months into this! But thanks for the acknowledgment.

Oh, so on my video comment thread, you can hold your fire on the expletive insults. Kennedy had 33 out of 53 bills that he submitted to Congress in 1961 enacted. 40 out of 54 bills that Kennedy proposed were passed by Congress in 1962, and 35 out of 58 “must” bills were enacted in 1963. As for who started the arms race, check this out on page 3 usnavymuseumDOTorg/pdf/Teacher_Help-7DOTpdf and enDOTwikipediaDOTorg/wiki/File:US_and_USSR_nuclear_stockpilesDOTsvg

Not sure what you mean. There's two audio gaps, one is 2 min. long, the other is 40 sec. long. That leaves approx 23 min. of audio. This tape is a true rollback and not for the modern attention span.

"....Even though I cannot know what the future will bring." Sounds eerie.

This is wonderful find. A great piece of primary source material. Unfiltered by any speech writer. Just Kennedy himself, making a rather introspective record that he probably intended to use someday when writing his own memoir. If you're interested in what made Kennedy tick, this is loaded with wonderful data. Kennedy had a historian's insight (about himself) but obviously wanted to make his mark on history. He clearly wanted to be a force for change, to personally do what he could to shape the future. Where was this found? And by whom? Congratulations to those found it and made it available here on RU-vid. David S. Lifton, 8/5/14

Hi David, and thanks for writing Best Evidence way back when. I haven't been able to comment on yt until now, but our mutual friend Doug relayed my message on where the JFK audio is ,,, or really, has been. Copies of his dictabilt tapes have actually been on the internet forever ... I'm sure books have been written since saying JFK was going to do the same in Vietnam as LBJ, when the audio tapes are right there on the internet, where McNamara and JFK are trying to figure out how to withdraw from Vietnam in the spring of '62. So, it's a terrific resource and I just feel like they've been overlooked. It's very strange. Thanks for your comments ... I put a lot of work into the pictures, and more work into editing the audio, but that's just the way I like it. I wish you well on your new book.

Where can I get the original copy?

The Miller Center is the best source for JFK recordings, in my opinion. The JFK library has come late to the game actually, and I don't find their site navigation friendly.
