Hey Jglo I am beyond sorry that you had such an abysmal experience in JA. As a Jamaican, (via family not birth) I can cosign the inhospitable behaviour often shown towards black people. They save the skinning and grinning for the lighter complected. It used to be that just being a foreigner was enough to be treated well but those days are long, long gone. You are right, its the skin colour, their general rudeness and many of us have experienced it. 🤬🥴✌🏽❤️

It is just pure jealousy period!! They see the both of you look great and obviously hate that you can afford to stay in a place like that ! they just begrudge you for being nice people! They clearly don’t have a life outside of their workplace. Don’t let nobody spoil your joy guys continue being you with no apologies one❤

Thank you so much for the heads up, you did not deserve to be ill treated on your vacation or any of your family members specially, when you’re putting money out, customer services a key when running a business and everyone being treated equally with the total respect, I definitely will not be going to this hotel, they will not get a dollar for me no way no one is going to disrespect you guys or anyone else… sound like staff need to be trained on Customer service and professionalism. thank you for sharing.💜🦋💜🦋

It’s so sad, how extremely sad for the way you were both treated, as well as your dad and brother, I’m so sorry, such despicable, disgusting, disrespectful, and disappointing behaviour, from an establishment that depends on tourism of all kind, money has no color, clearly they think otherwise, it’s the slave mentality for me, they have no integrity, principle, class, dignity, or the right to own a business. Thank you for sharing. The spa looks like a very rewarding place. I don't think hotel owners realize how important upgrades are when it comes to particularly the interior. If guest are paying 5 star prices, they deserve 5 star esthetics. In my opinion, I think Golden Eye is probably experiencing some inter organizational turmoil.

Just came back and have had similar negative treatment from our own Jamaicans. Colonialism is alive and well and its ingrained to glorify others while side eyeing our own. Sickening!

Just subscribed to you and Jay. This was very real and emotional. I was sucking my teeth and cussing at the damn hotel employees and management also for not taking accountability. Just so unprofessional. Moving on….I also love Corthaiyou great Thai food. I can tell Jay is a foodie, the way he closed his eyes and savored the curry. The professional chef in me appreciates that.

It really bothers me that they wouldn’t let an elderly man use the bathroom. How sick. I have to say I have also experienced racism in Jamaica and Turks and Caicos. Like Malcolm X said. We have been taught to hate ourselves. As for your home country of Barbados, I was treated like royalty! 🇧🇧

It is very sad that the staff think that they themselves and the “local” population don’t belong in a hotel in their own country. But yet they will grin their 42 teeth for people that look nothing like them because of the perception they have of who has money and who will tip them.

Let the Jamaica Tourism go in and shape them up. They need training,

You may not like me fir saying this. But being of Bajan and Jamaican decent. I really think you need to think about how rude the staff are in Barbados. I had to pull up a staff on Miami Beach for speaking to my uncle like he was dirt. The rudeness I have experienced in Barbados I have never experienced in Jamaica.
