Some good wins there for an arcade some want to claim is always dead 🙂 I prefer to trust my own eyes and 9/10 get a decent game there. Well worth a visit.
Great video and nice repeats on simpsons. Thank for coming and showing your support for the classics As everyone with a classic arcade will tell you it's hard work to keep them running especially when they are switched on everyday.
Haven’t watched a james hardy fruit session for a few months but i must say he never disappoints when i do come back keep the videos coming mate and keep well 💪
Simpson...trying remember. We in day when kept landing on corners we added to the Super jackpot on side where collected characters, no idea if made any difference
Only time it made a difference is if it was a white board and not red and a natural one rather than an invisible red which are fairly obvious as it hits the cash all the way or corners back to 3 plus cash from the first corner. Only a white allowed you to streak it
The Simpsons on a favourable percentage for the streak. That double repeat at the end was always on the cards! When the 1st and 2nd jackpot don't repeat and it takes it's time for the 3rd jackpot, there's a great chance of the double repeat for £75. I made a thread on Desert all about the different percentages and how much it costs in between streaks thanks to Justin's equation. Also used the equation on Homer's Meltdown to check how a couple of different percentage settings react.
It's fascinating how the machine plays differently depending on the percentage and whilst the 2x repeats were semi expected it still made for a great segment of the video for the viewers. I don't consider retro arcades as the wild but it shows how we were making a profit back then in the wild. I know you've invested some serious time into Simpsons, also hope you are enjoying Fun In The Sun.
Heya James, sorry been offline (a bit ill due to lack of sleep and not eating, the perils of fruity addiction... I am becoming as bad as I used to be when I was a semi-clued up muppet! Glad it's free because the machines have played terribly from a reset RAM. Millionhare layout has the reel lights upside down. It's a common issue with layouts made in old versions of MFME, but I didn't realise at first. Took 5 blasts and wanted grape with box, hit bell (!) and got stuffed with cherry on last hit. Only to realise when the reels stepped the wrong way that it wasn't the bell I hit but the boxed grape! Enjoying trying all the random ideas I always had but was too scared of getting my arse tanned... MFME is great. I thought I didn't miss it but replaying all these classic machines has brought back a lot of memories of the good times! I did a bit of a study on Club Grid Runner. It was interesting. Definitely different. Some clubbers are similar to AWPs; Red's Lucky Streak is almost identical to On A Roll, and the usual AWP stuff like 3-holds, holds after nudges and cancel slowdown work, but the machine's a bit more helpful than the AWP version due to the rules whereby clubbers must make things obvious for muppets. The top can do £75ish or £250. But Club Grid Runner is a different beast. None of the AWP standbys work. Holds after nudges and 3 holds do nothing. But it was interesting playing it and learning things. The thread's here: www.desertislandfruits.com/forum/index.php?/topic/14380-it-might-be-possible-to-trick-club-grid-runner-into-potting-early/
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines Sorry, I got carried away, that comment ended up much longer than I intended it to be. My computer is running very slowly and I'm having trouble on RU-vid trying to view notifications. I'm trying to go through my messages now so sorry for late replies.
After watching this video I'm a bit confused when the Simpsons was going red why where you taking the pound ice never seen it play that way can you explain please cheers
Yes, you can't streak it fr a red board, you need to go up off a normal white board, however it does a fake red where it isn't red but does the exact same as a red board, just hitting cash squares.
@@tommytommytommytommyrobins496 It sounded like they hyped it up a bit much, and the disappointment might not have gone down too well with some. Hope there's not too much hassle going on.
@@GuruJus seems a bit quieter now, apart from Man Utd’s 2 goals thee toon were the better team but just couldn’t score, n I agree it was to soon but in a year or two newcastle will be winning👍👍👍
It's a long time since I've taken one, as I was almost always a believer in refusing reds. I can't say for certain, although I vaguely remember a red jackpot coming from the streak pot. I don't know if I've had one repeat, other than on Homers
That Simpletons reminds me... The Great Escape was one game that played great from RAM reset. It gave a red board relatively cheaply, and it didn't take long for the £5 block to lift. I ended up with a decent profit - one JP off yellow board, one off cherries (was yellow as the logo didn't turn red) then another yellow board with 3 repeats. Red afterwards of course. I think I was £30 up or so! Makes a change. Usually skill-based games like classic JPMs and the skill-based Impulses like Flashback and Spin On It, along with Mortal Wombat with its rip are OK from reset but most other stuff starts lukewarm at best. And you can forget about getting a roll unless it costs a fortune to pot (which Reds are often guilty of)!
Yes, most JPMs start buzzing but the odd Ace starts totally dead. I think the theory with not streaking is the streak pots reset to 0 and haven't done any saving. Epochs reset to a lot of value too.
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines I forgot to mention that Barcrests where you collect wins as you go, like Revolution series etc. were also decent off a reset. Golden Dragon gave me a fast board almost straight away. Problem being the emulator is slow as fudge when playing a full DX. It makes skill hard. I found the mouse / touchpad more responsive than keyboard shortcuts, and Ctrl-E for edit mode helped mitigate the slowdown while zooming in to an area with scroll bars. BFMs and Betcoms running Scorpion 5 are even slower, but on the plus side a Scorp5 Cabin Fever or clone is a piece of piss to do Wild Thing on. (That reminds me - not sure if I ever played £70 Cluedo TUS but they rearranged the features to make it potentially harder or at least to throw players off at first. But the Super 7 trick still works on the No Lose Don't go over the top and Knockouts features. I remember they used to love hitting Super 7 on Knockouts if you had 5 S7 3 because it thought it was a normal 7! I can't remember without checking but I think they just swapped two pairs of features, so Number Runner and Wild Thing were now two higher with those being two lower.
@@GuruJus There was a thread on DIF where someone mentioned a Red Arrow with a dead battery that would reset if given a shake. I'd forgotten until just now but I had one too. Did it twice and was very surprised at the amount of value in it the second time. It may have been in the reel reset position too. So I said to my driver, something's up here. I plugged it and got a great result, but I hit Start a little too hard at one point and voila, reset! Maybe it was the same dodgy Arrow! Unfortunately it didn't hold much money because I think it defaulted to backing, thinking it was full? Either way, it was never much good after that and I had to be careful not to empty it. One time I got pissed off with something and banked it for £75-90 knowing it was never worth playing - can't remember the details but it was either getting done by others or it never got filled up by muppets, so knowing it was likely to be removed, I decided to cane it. (Normally not something I'd do. Bad etiquette. But I made an exception that time.) When I was told about Casino Royale SWP, I got lucky one day and randomly decided to try a game I hadn't seen before called Cash Stacka. Only to discover within minutes that it was a full empty. But quiz machines never really held enough money so it wasn't as lucrative as an AWP emptier. But it was a 5 minute job, if that, so we could be in and out. I wasn't surprised that the game didn't last long - I think it was only included in two consecutive game sets / updates for Paragons then it was swiftly axed. I was genuinely amazed that such an easy emptiable game made it into the wild, so methinks an inside job. I believe both Casino Royale and Cash Stacka were written by Gemini Games, whose machines had been notorious for having all sorts of tricks and sloppy coding over the years.
@@avengah JPMs of that era reset to the halfway point between just numbering, and rolling the jackpot in. I think a red arrow resets to 7 - WILD - 7 on the line. They would also have the CL light on, as they think the hopper balance is zero.
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines but you cancelled 3 red boards = £45 for a £15 + 1repeat =£30. You need to emulate these games onto tablet/pc......This time next year Rodders.....
@Coggers-ww1zz but had you taken the £15 from the red board then the red board doesn't return. It's only returning because it's been knocked back. Planet Emu is your place for these games emulated.
@@Jackpot77777 It can take that much through it, but you'd get some back. It can take more. Weirdly, in Oswestry, it streaked faster on 80%, than it did on 88%. Each percentage is like a different programme
Is the Simpsons on the bent chip? Only ever played the dodgy chip in a service station somewhere on the m6,think there may have been one at Gatwick Airport too.
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines Yes, as per the reply to Yorkie's comment, it streaks faster on 80%, than on 88%.Also, it does fake reds on 80%, but not on 88%
@@GuruJus I think thats the mad thing, that the profile of the game actually changes because of the percentage its set to. I remember sending the streaking Roms to What What What and he said they don't work and we were both so confused!
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines Yes, it was like each different percentage was a different programme. And strange how it streaked a lot faster on 80%, than on 88%. Shame we can't merge this with Yorkie's comment.
James I haven't played a Supernova since they were in the pubs and I can't for the life of me remember how to tell a Gary board on one as it can't land on the streaks like the others .
Having not had one on any of the ones I have played on my travels it just hits Mega un-naturally early, when playing normally it only ever tends to hit on the second to last shot or last shot. It is probably the worst incarnation of the red blue trails.
@@JamesHardyFruitMachines wasn't there another rarer version of the trails that I can't for the life of me remember ( any thoughts or am I getting mixed up again?)
Yes, to get the streak out, you have to get the jackpot on a non-red board. Avoid taking anything high on a red board, until you've had at least 3 jackpots out of it.
@@markthomas4382 The reds only came back, because I was taking £1. If I'd taken £15, it would have taken around £20-22 to come back, or more if I'd collected wins in the meantime
@@markthomas4382 no because they're only really refusing one jackpot, it's only coming back red BECAUSE they refused it. Had they taken it red it would have been one £15 Jackpot with NO CHANCE of a repeat. So it's not like they could of had lots of jackpots. The way to work it out,is to see how much it cost to go red and see what that profit or loss would have been say £10 in for £15 ,making a £5 profit etc ( that's just an example not real figures ) then look at how much they put in it in total and look at what they took out. Say £40 in for £75 out, leaving a £35 profit ( again just example not actual figures ) But you see what I'm saying, so if you work it out ,you will see how much better or worse they were by playing this way
Does the red board not come back after the two last repeats thought it did. Agree with supernova the least best out of that series and the fact it doesn’t have a streak stack.
Anything part of the streak that goes over £45, comes out of the normal pot. So, with that giving £75, £30 comes from the normal pot, so it'd take £40+ to go red again.
@@yorkie6641 It's not the case on Great Escape or Italian Job 1, the lot would have come from the streak pot, so the red would have come back. But on the Simpsons, the streak is limited to £45
Nice one Learn something every day and the pause at the start of the board if it’s long pause that’s the proper jacky yellow board, is the long pause fake red board 😬🙂
@@yorkie6641 On a fake red board, there will be no pause at all. The length of the pause corresponds to how many nudges it can afford to give, the exception being when it's a Jackpot repeater board, when there is no pause at all
@@michaellawlor5625 A few machines from that era are similar. Once they are streaking, if it offers a red board, I take a low win, and try to get jackpots off a non-red board, until its given £45 or more.
