Historic closing to J.H. Jackson's National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Presidential Address in 1972. He denounces George McGovern's presidential campaign for President of the United States. J.H. Jackson is booed during his address because this represents supporting President Nixon. The end of the message shows his preaching prowess as he turns the boos into shouts of praise at the end.

I tried to transcribe it, but I gave up bc i have two things due tomorrow. Here's most of the first five minutes starting at about 1:05 when he lost the crowd. "I…you make your own decision Then make up your own mind. We have in this country today a serious problem. We must take and think well We must help to lead out people in the right direction. The NBC has the right to think about these things. You have the right to discuss them, you have the right to understand them. We cannot be detached from the life of ordination. WE may make a mistake, but let us participate in them, and do our best to carry on. The NBC ____ our people, we must pay it. To the best of our ability the preaching of the gospel ought not(?) to be sacrificed. We have to continue to tell the story. It matters not how dark the night is. We must continue to tell the story. We must be concerned about everything else that is not right, but don’t turn from the gospel. We are interested in the lives of all of our people but we need to stand with the captain of our salvation. The way may be rought and we be….. but we have some certainties upon which we can provide. WE can’t prove some of the things in life…(that we’re attacked?) but we have some certainties, these certainties keep us alive. I’m certain, in spite of all the faults and failings of men and nations, we are sustained and supported by some unfailing certainty - like ….. …I’m very certain that there are unavoidable uncertainties that plague our lives…. I am very certain that given the passion of {things and years} (? 3:59) disappointment of weeks and months and years that we too would lose our strength to serve and to join happily of such an assembly as this, it would soon pass from among us. I’m certain that there is evil in the world although I’m certain by the justice of the abiding place of the scripture of this cosmic order and if you move (moon?) justice and leave it bleeding and dying on the fowls of the battlefield. And you package the corpse of a man…. …and clip the wings of the dove. I’m certain the thorns and thistles of the bramble and briar do not exhaust the special creations of the earth, but the same earth that brings forth these causes also….."

It sounds like the audience was agitated because he said something they interpret it as unpatriotic. Doctor Jackson however does not yield And I'm certain those who were there 50 years Can recall this moment with clarity and awe. And of that, I'm certain.

Talk about turning weeping into joy. And disappointment and despair into joy and laughter. Only the WORD of GOD can achieve these things. As I say of CL Franklin, CAW Clark, Gardner Taylor, great old preachers of the Gospel.

This why he had the longest tenure as president in NBCUSA.

He had the longest tenure as president because he manipulated the process. He did so so much that it led to the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc.

No he didn't. He didn't agree with King's method, but he was not opposed to King as a leader nor the movement.

This is where Martin Luther King gets his oratory from but they had serious disagreements

You are right sir, the tone of voice, delivery, rhythm and sequencing of words and sentence structure is a complete match. This is an interesting revelation. As the saying goes we are all inspired by someone. He had clearly inspired Dr King to the point that Dr King adopted his style of preaching! That is the greatest compliment a student can give to a teacher. Any differences they may have had can be forgiven for that is an act of love and respect.
