JHAUR is a Bangla word. It means "Storm" in English and "Aandhi, Toofan" in urdu

I showed this documentary to a Bangladeshi woman who came to India at the age of 15 with her younger brother. She said - "Utter nonsense and white washing the crimes". This video came across my timeline and I found it interesting. According to her - discrimination & state wrath against the native bangla people started long back. Officially (I can acknowledge that) no one said that during the war 3 million were killed. I think these old military people who wants to fight till the death could not carry their wish because they were not enough brave to fight ar that time, but wants to show their courage now. I just hope the madness of history leaves three nations and we develop independently or individually by taking care of basic needs of our people rather than starting one more fight based on three sides propaganda.

The List of 93000 are very much in the Public Domain. That includes Army, Navy, Air force, Paramilitary Personnel & also the Civilian Staffs of the Armed forces like clerks, drivers, barbers and washermen etc., 81,676 were Uniformed Personnel and the rest are Civilian staffs.

I'm from West Bengal. One of my friend's family was migrated to India from East Pakistan. He has told me many times about the horrific incidents of 1971 when massacre of Bangali started by Pakistan army. Though he is not there to count but his claim is with Bangladesh's first president. He supported the fact that 3 million or 30 lacks could have been massacred by Pakistani army. Please present the facts of both sides to make your documentry unbiased. Otherwise documentry is really great however in many instances seems to be biased towards Pakistan and his army.

Very well put up. I must say it must have been painful for pakistanis to surrender before INDIAN ARMY. No matter how much you defend,it was indeed true that atrocities were done on East pakistan(now Bangladesh). It was necessary to free Bangladesh. If you look at brighter side,considering your present situation it is better that you dont have to govern Bangladesh now as if would have been more worrisome and more painful for Pakistan. A few things are missing from all the four episodes ! Why the Bengali youth were so enraged to have resorted to genocide and killed the Biharis, razakars and any Pakistani soldiers, who were captured by them ? Why was their reaction so violent during and after Opration Search light ? What made 1 crore east Pakistani citizens to fear for their lives, to cross over to enimy territory to save themselves from death, from February/March to December 1971 ? This was all over the US, UK & Australian press, despite Nixson's support ! Gen: Manekshaw said on TV, that the Pakistan army fought gallently, giving tough time to Indians, and he did recommend some officers to be decorated for the bravery displayed, and they were decorated by the Pak High Command after the war. He was modest enough not to point out that Indians out-generaled the Pakistani highcommand . It is proved by : 1) Pak force commders in some garrisons / border arias were shocked at the order to surrender, while they were fully prepared to fight on ! 2) The main Indian thrust was expected from the north and was defended very well during the diversionary attack on 3rd December, but the thrust came from the east ! 3) Why more than 60% of the population, surrounded on three sides by the enimy, was left with only three divisions to defend itself while the 40% of it was provided with over 5 lakh soldiers for their security ? Some officer, in the 3rd episode raised the question of justification for India attacking, with out any Pak threat to Indian security. What threat Pakistan felt when Operation Gibraltar was launched 6 years earlier and also when Pak army entered Kashmir in 1947, as admitted by Zafer-ulla Khan, the then Pak Foreign Minister, in the UN Security council, in 1948 ? In 1971 the Indian economy could barely support itself. Indian were being fed by US aided, under PL 480 programme, imported wheet, the East Pakistani refugee were an unbearable burden and therefore the military solution was taken up.

The comment that larger British and German armies surrendered in Singapore and Stalingrad respectably is an unintelligent excuse to save face. They did not surrender in their own country! That's an enormous difference.

Excellent research and marvellous presentation.Thank God we as a nation have woken up from deep slumber and tragic trauma after more than fifty years of national tragedy.I wish this series could be shown openly on our media because nation and specially our youth does not know the sacrifices of their forefathers in East Pakistan.We have to get out of this "loss of East Pakistan Syndrome".We should never forget our Shuhada and Ghazis of East Pakistan.Hearts out to families of hundreds of Shuhada whose bodies were never brought back and there are no traces of their graves.If we want to save remaining Pakistan,we must inculcate sense of self respect and nationalism in our youth.Once again my compliments for such a comprehensive and informative presentation.I also wish if this research could have been done we could have included interviews of senior commanders like Lt Gen AAK Niazi,Rao Farman Ali,Saadullah,etc

We were educated with the general narrative and environment which is in complete contrast to this. Great work. You can clearly feel the emotive journey, and physical hardships of those eminent officers interviewed in this documentary. The critical decisions, by the Generals, and the embarrassment of 'surrender', under helpless and hopeless circumstances. Thank you for this. We had friends in school in Pakistan who were children of POW officers in those days. Must have been so difficult for them looking at it from a human level. Name number and regiment of each Pakistani Army, Air Force and Naval officers and men is still held in India. Two times tea, Breakfast, lunch and dinner was served free of cost to all POWs for TWO YEARS, hence the number is correct. Every evening each POW was given a chance to send a message to his family on all India Radio. Females like Shamila Bose could be easily bribed.

Indian Government headed by Smt. Indira Gandhi and the most loyal and truly brave soldiers are praiseworthy . After doing such unforgettable humanitarian help people of Bangladesh are ungrateful towards India since they have leaning attitude towards China and didn't stop entering into Indian soil till today in the bordering states of West Bengal , Assam etc . Bangladesh should have been included in India with a view to erase the word influx/refugee . This might have made the North East free from insurgency and unnecessary death of our precious soldiers . Hats off to the channel for very well presented documentary. As far as contradictions registered ex soldiers (Pakistani) is just based on their gut feel with no logical basis. Now it does not make any difference how many were PoW, 93k or 26k. How many women were raped is immaterial. These soldiers were fighting war as they were ordered. Now being civilians these soldiers know the fact that Pakistan Govt. / Army Illegitimate reasons of creating false narrative to start was. Should their soul curse them for what Pakistan did to Bangladeshis. Having lost war and seeing Bangladesh progress these ex-army men are extending hand of friendship to Bangladeshis because they are Muslims. Why not these very Pakistanis have same attitude towards India. Religion has made Pakistanis just not so human to other man kind. Not sure how to call them God's creation.

Hear all side of the story and try to find out why in the first place East Pakistani's (Bangladeshis ) were so neglected by the west, what led to the hatred between them, were they treated equals? why Pakistanis politicians and generals wanted to solve a political problem with bullet. What mistakes were made by the Pakistani politicians and generals. Did anybody ever try to answer them. Did Pakistan ever felt just to ask an apology to Bangladesh for their wrongdoings/ atrocities committed in 1971 or they are still arrogant as ever? Where the country is today ? is Pakistani Army one of the most professional or one of the most corrupt? what the rest of the world say about you? Do our politicians/generals follow the religion or teachings of Islam? what Islam teaches how to treat another Muslim brother? where they have taken the country today? It is truly disheartening to observe that many in Pakistan(West Pakistan) remain unaware of the injustices inflicted by the Pakistani Military Rulers until 1971 even to this day. A proper constitution wsnt formed until 1956. The realization of the first general election in 1970 were made possible largely due to East Pakistan's significant contributions. The Pakistani military's actions in 1971 War were met with international condemnation, and the conflict resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis. We condemn any attempts at propaganda that seek to distort historical facts.

I was born in 1983, that follower I am 41 years old, I have not seen any person whose family was killed in 1971 war, the number of 3 million dead in Bangladesh independence war is completely false. I heard from our grandfathers and elders that the number was 3 lakhs. Out of which 1 lakh people died between March 25th and August 1971.
