These tutorial videos are great! RU-vid doesn't have many videos of erhu tutorials and many videos seem to leave out many important details that people forget that beginners won't know. I hope you will make more tutorial videos and put them in one playlist in your channel to make them easier to find.

Have I been playing the notes all wrong? Do you not press the top of the string? From the video it looks like the fingertip is placed on the side of the string and not the top. I'm very confused.

I do press the top of the strings as you do. The fingertip is NOT placed on the side of the string.

If you don't have enough rosin on the bow hairs then the hairs will just slide without making any sound. It seems to take a while to figure out how to get enough rosin on the bow without getting too much. I think maybe it's because different rosin is different in hardness especially depending on the temperature and stuff. Using sandpaper on the rosin can help get it started.
