California fisherman here, we catch the same thing except we call them yellowtail out here and they are good eating but the fish off NZ are a different class! Looks like great fun and I’d like to give it a try if I ever find myself down there

Sammy Hitzke did well on those octopus in Australia, on kingies - wondered if they'd work here, and clearly they do in the right hands! What weight was that one you were using? You got a snapper clip coming up with them taking the octo as well? Where was your normal crew mate, she would have enjoyed that session...
Thanks mate, I plan to keep pumping them all year. The fishing gets pretty slow here in summer so I had a bit of a breather. Oh cool I’ll have to try find his vid, they go really well ay. The smaller ones are good for snapper over the sand and under workups too. I think I’m using the 280g, the 300g is good too.

Hey can u recommend rod and reel setup for newbie wanting to give that fast jigging a go. I hv caught a nice kingie on my slow jig rod and reel before using a coin drop and jelly baby. Cheers
