here on the north shore of lake superior Ontario we have the best pickerel fishery anywhere.Hundreds of inland lakes. I trap my own leeches cause they are 12 bucks for 2 dozen at the bait shop...lol..best speck fishing too.Thanks 😊
That different leech you found is the one and only true north american bloodsucking leech called Macrobdella Decora they freak me out. Ribbon leeches are flat and often have defined thinner edges. The other leech you may find would be a horse leech. They are mostly round rather than flat and often have defined ridges. Also called mud leeches or jelly bellies. They are very slimy and super soft like a deflated balloon. Myth says a walleye won't touch them BUT after testing I found that it's just because they generally don't swim as much. If you do find some horse leeches and they really swim you'll find that many fish can be caught on the same one even if you hooked it just once. That's because despite being soft they are almost tougher than rubber. Try hooking one and you'll get what I mean XD
