There's a quote that reminds me so much of Jimin: "If they stand behind you, protect them. If they stand beside you, respect them. If they stand against you, defeat them." Jimin is an alpha male. Just because he is not overtly aggressive, doesn't mean he's not dominant. People need to be mature enough to discern reality from fan fiction.
I've always seen Jimin as an "old soul". He is emotionally as well as intellectually intelligent. He has a presence about him as both strong and soft at the same time. He is someone that you could rely on 100% if you needed anything. He would literally do whatever it takes to make sure those around him are safe and happy. How can you not gravitate toward that. If I had to bet on Jimin versus someone else in any situation, my money would always be on Jimin.
From what I've seen of Jimin and his interactions, you could tell that he has a steely core inside him. This core is what had kept him focused and in control of his emotions when needed. Examples (1) Hello Counselor - He was feeling some anger, you could see it in his eyes, at the participant who put his toys before the wellbeing of his family. But the advice he gave was very rational, so well delivered and respectful. Another instance (2) Was just last year when his turn came up to deliver his acceptance speech for Artist of the Year at the MMA 2018. You could see how emotional and overcome the entire group was, and many of them shed tears while speaking. But Jimin was so in control of his emotions and spoke calmly despite his voice breaking a little at the beginning. He smiled, thanked everyone and sounded oh so grounded. That really shows how strong his willpower is inside. He might appear delicate and fragile at times but right at his core, he has the heart of a lion.
I've never understood why some people don't see how he takes charge of situation s, and if he's not ,he's often doing it to boost jk's confidence. He's secure in himself that he doesn't bother about appearing 'weaker'. His 'alpha' energy has been confirmed so often when fans have run into them on tour etc, he's strong and intimidating when he their privacy is threatened. I've always seen him as an alpha male, maybe because I'm an introvert who does a lot of people watching, I feel more shocked when people only see him as a fluffy bouncy needy puppy

It's one of the reasons I find it endearing that JK so often puts his hands on Jimin to "help" him do things like turn pages in a book, hold his phone, unwrap tissue paper from a package, or even sit down. He knows Jimin can easily do those things without help. He just uses any excuse to touch him. And it's very telling that Jimin contentedly accepts the "help" and often asks for JK's assistance when he doesn't need it at all.

I think Jm has dual personalities, different situations and people bring out different sides. He is what he wants to be. But as Rm once said, he is one of the most mature members and we only get to see what is shown to us. I think offstage he is pretty serious and pretty possessive and protective as hell. He deeply cares about all of BTS, but in case of Jk, I firmly believe that he steers the relationship. But then again, no one can force Jk to do anything. He is pretty self willed but sometimes he just cannot say NO because he can be pretty flexible and shy. So they are just one and the same. dude, you know when I knew Jimin was the unofficial leader of BTS? That "Knowing Bros" appearance when he took over all decision-making as soon as RM defected to the other side. Down to telling RM --RM!-- that he couldn't come back to BTS. He so naturally stepped up and took the lead, and everybody fell in line behind him without any pushback whatsoever. I was surprised at the time because I always thought that he was Bangtan's "baby," the unofficial maknae who has to fill in for Jungkook bc he was "bad" at being the maknae, lol. I really thought the next-in-line would be Dance Captain Hobi, but after that, I saw Jimin in a whole new light. Even in retrospect, ppl kept seeing Jimin as the little spoon even though every single time we saw jikook cuddle onscreen, JK was lying on Jimin's arm, not the other way around. Definitely the alpha. He's never overlooked and barely interrupted unless they're just fooling around. All the members are equally important, but Jimin is their emotional rock without a doubt. They could probably be fine without one of the other members for a comeback, tour or something like that(which will happen when they enlist), but they would not survive without Jimin IMO. He's a hyung even for the hyungs.
He preens at praise, is flirtatious, and likes being pretty, but he is also athletic, competitive, protective, strong and strong natured. He is most of us, multi- layered. His size means nothing. He knows he is cute but it's a superpower.
i've always felt this way about jimin. i'm a pretty small woman myself but even at work i'm used to bossing around 40yo men, and even my friends have told me my size and appearance is misleading. so for me it was clear from the beginning that Jimin's mochi-ness has nothing to do with his strong personality. besides his miselading looks, i think the fact that he doesn't like talking about himself and he lets other people bask in the spotlight make people perceive him as much weaker than he actually is. all lies. he has the most commanding presence, the most integrity (i'll fight anyone on this), and even the members agree he's the scariest among them when he's in a bad mood. he's one complicated, confident man, and JK is such a lucky guy.
I absolutely relate to Jimin this way. ^^^ 5 feet and “cute”, but my appearance is also deceiving. I don’t take shit from anyone, and my friends do say I happen to be the most emotionally mature and serious despite my happy extroverted nature in public. When I get angry at someone, they’ll know. I tend to use sharp words and give them the cold shoulder; because I’m often a very touchy-feely person, ignoring someone both emotionally and physically feels like a slap in the face :p
I remember that Jimin's favorite Avenger is Hulk because according to him Hulk, unlike others, doesnt try to be sneaky but head on crushes everything that gets in his way. Somehow, I see Jimin's personality like that. He knows exactly what he's capable of. He's self aware and always rises up to the challenge. He never backs down. Yes! He is always pegged as being small and weak but he so isn’t! He knows exactly what he is doing and how he is acting. He’s honestly is one of the strongest members. Even if he acts weak 9/10 times it’s to flirt with a certain somebody. He plays into this persons stronger side but don’t think for one minuet that he couldn’t turn around and kick some butt if the situation called for it.

THANK YOU. My friend and I frequently talk about how his smaller body, high voice, pretty features, and what’s considered feminine qualities does NOT mean he is an omega/beta male. That thought process is a symptom of misogyny. He’s commanding, can be intimidating, and clearly sets the pace of his relationship with Jungkook. He doesn’t just lead Jungkook by the nose, but he’s also that way with Taehyung and sometimes I wonder if they’re same age friends or if Jimin is Tae’s hyung lol. Wow!! This was the video I didn’t know I needed. I suspected these qualities of Jimin but never labeled them. I think sometimes he gets misunderstood but it’s all of these qualities that make me love him so so much. I think Jungkook is a lucky man because he has a partner, friend and lover (?...coz we don’t know for sure) that is so incredibly supportive and loving. He will let JK take the lead when he needs his protector but he knows when that is. Jimin is an amazing friend to ALL of them and I think what we don’t see sometimes is just how much admiration each one has for him. An additional piece to this in 2022 was the JHope - Jimin vlive after Lollapaloosa performance. But my concept of an Alpha male is one who wants to dominate others around him. I think that a lot of the time, Jimin is guided by his heart that is like a parent to those he is close to. When he is like that, nobody can resist his leadership. He often initiates taking the penalty in place of other members in Run BTS. Jimin’s great heart is really exceptional.

I agreed with you the moment I saw the title. Jimin is confident, dominant, but it is not widely recognized, because he chooses not to demonstrate this side of his onto camera too much. Which is understandable, since as far as I know they have this "cuteness" concept in Korea which idols have to match along with perfect friendliness with fans and pleasing appearance. And Jimin has fully grown into understanding all the aspects of his job as an idol and how to accomplish it when it comes to the right behaviour in front of the audience.

I really appreciate this, because I feel that people often stick Jimin in the box of soft, gentle, weak, and passive due to his cute appearance and caring nature, and they get upset when he demonstrates characteristics that fall outside of this tiny box, like initiative, authority, or conviction. They call him petty, short-tempered, or bossy and accuse him of being fake or two-faced because he is so much more complex and multifaceted than the narrow description they have assigned to him, and people don't know how to handle that. Of course he's not perfect, but more often than not, his "bossy" moments are real moments of leadership that people would praise from RM, Yoongi, or Tae. There's a double standard because, for some reason, people feel threatened when Jimin proves himself to be more than a sweet, giggling Mochi (although he can be that too). He's soft, tough, tender, strong, a team player, and a natural leader, and so much more, and we should be better about recognizing and respecting this fact. Jimin has two different personas. Onstage persona and offstage persona. Onstage, he is a smiley, bubbly, cute littlle Mochi we all know of. Offstage, he is like a young 'old soul' who takes good care of and is very protective of his 6 members. He has a clear boundary and when his members attacked by someone outside BTS, he will be the one who gives a death stare, which is really intimidating. He is very possessive, strong willed, and protective of his members. Namjoon even said Jimin is a young 'adult' meaning he is young but mature for his age. This probably has something to do with him being used to playing an older brother at home. When he is with Jungkook and Tarhyung especially, his alpha male personality explodes. Jimin can direct these two just by giving them an eye contact wothout a single word and both Jungkook and Taehyung often end up following Jimin's decisions. Even Taehyung is like a little baby Jimin takes care of. Taehyung is a typical Korean man who can be simple minded or insensitive at times but even Taehyung always end up listening to what Jimin tells him to do or not to do. I find that very funny and that's when I know Jimin has this natural non threatening leadership skill. Afterall Jimin is much more than what we see on stage or on camera. His another alpha male self explodes when he is with JK and Taehyung, especially when they all speak in Busan dialect. He often becomes an alpha male even with Jin, the oldest member of BTS. Jimin is definitely NOT as feminine as he might come across on stage or in front of camera. He is definitely a type who leads a relationship.
This video is fantastic and I completely agree! Jimin is actually a little mysterious to me. There are layers to him and I do believe we get to mostly see Jimin the star but we've seen peaks of Jimin being the deep & dominant man who has become very self aware. Important note: the sub/dom dynamics is different from top/bottom dynamics. 14:31 - i completely agree with this. Jimin is one assertive person. He steps up to the position of a leader whenever needed, but also makes sure he doesn't overstep. You can see how well-worded he is. While most of us often say he is sassy, he is indeed sassy but in a way thay doesn't demean anyone. He always spit out facts with authority and respect.
There's a reason why Jimin is the most "positively associated" idol in Korea. I don't know Korean, but I have a feeling that a lot of his well-spokenness is lost in translation.
It's been awhile since I've watched this video, but it's only now that I've read your comment. I agree with everything you said. People forget that Jimin was class president (among other important academic achievements). Not only that, he was class president for *nine years.* As class president, Jimin's primary duties would have included working with students to resolve problems and informing school leaders and the student council of ideas emanating from the class. He would have had the responsibility of leading class meetings and organizing student activities and events. I can imagine that Jimin did well for his class to continually vote him as their leader and must have had good working relationships with his professors and dean. He's a natural-born leader with experience.
Jimin is my bias. Mochi is my bias wrecker and Alpha Jimin is my bias wrecker 'wrecker'. To be honest am an not a KPOP fan until I noticed Jimin, right JIMIN on their music video No More Dream. I've grown to love BTS as well because of Jimin. I was intrigued by him because of many personalities he pocesses and I was intrigued to the point I didn't notice I am actively watching his growth. And now I can say that through those observations that he is a true angel that keeps his hyungs and donsaengs in checked (always cares for them and treat them with respect, protects them, and loves them, and those are the greatest characteristics of an alpha for me).

Thank you for this video. People forget Jimin is Jimin. What I find problematic with most JiKookers is that they love to assume their relationship and status, and they force this unhealthy narrative that Jimin is somehow weak and defenseless and dependent on Jungkook. Yes, Jimin is cute. Yes, Jimin is caring, loving and sweet. He openly shows his affection, but Jimin is a complex man with so many sides to him. Having observed BTS since predebut till now, it's not hard to see Jimin's leadership and Jimin being the "dominant" one in their relationship. But for whatever reason, most JiKookers ignore Jimin's athleticism, his strengths, his martial arts background, his personality, his talents and so forth just so that they can continue with their narratives and stereotypes. I don't usually care for shipping, but when shippers go so far as to misgender him and assume his sexual preferences, it's disconcerting. At the very least, shippers should respect Jimin.
HOusEoFsiERRa I find that a lot of these sexual assumptions about Jimin and JK are rooted in yaoi/BL and fujoshi culture. Jimin in those stories would fit the stereotype of the small, weaker uke and Jungkook would be the stronger, taller seme stereotype. In the real world it simply doesn’t work that way. We don’t even know how they prefer to be physically intimate, but when it comes to two men it’s clear to me what many shippers assume. Even though I see it for Jimin and Jungkook, I am not a shipper. I don’t go out of my way to make narratives about real people and their lives and say “it’s just for fun.” I genuinely see that these two 20-somethings have a love, care, and intimacy with each other that is markedly different from what they have with everyone else around them.
To be fair, I actually think Jimin likes being babied to a degree, but not in a demeaning "he's weak, unconfident etc." way that a lot of people like to imagine him as. He's not a weak man by any means, but sometimes he just likes to act like he is in a way just to get spoiled by the other members (for example, that one clip of him and jk in a gym and he acts like he can't reach the bars so jk will lift him up, or the multiple times he's claimed to be the weakest member [even though I doubt this lol], the time he mentioned that he likes that jk can protect him now, or in the first "minimoni" vlive where he was saying he can't live without a roommate and that jhope takes good care of him etc.). This is obviously not all there is to his personality though, he's clearly a no-nonsense, confident, guy that will stand up for himself and his friends if he needs to but unfortunately a lot of people like to exaggerate his softer side to the point where it seems like hes just a really insecure, needy, weak person.
Not only in their relationship, but in the band as a whole you can see that Jimin is one of the “leaders” in many ways. For one he is definitely the “emotional leader”. Just reading about his supposed personality ENFJ just explains almost everything about him.

I am with you here, i totally feel the same. They are trying to make JM the "girl" all the time. Pointing out their height difference, even if its barely existant when they are both barefeet. I can't even express how I appreciate you for making this! This is how I want to explain to ppl why I find Jimin sexy. Not just bec he dances or flirts onstage/camera with his sexy moves, or him being beautiful physically. He has these layers to his personality that I really find so admirable in my years of being his fan. I get annoyed esp when ppl see him as fragile, assume that since he's 'smaller' than other members he is more 'feminine", sees his affection towards x member as being a 'mom' or the grp's 'cheerleader'. He doesn't hesitate to provide support, mentally, emotionally or physically. And for me that's what makes him a great person, or more 'alpha' in relation to this vid. Omg i love your video so much! And i am soooo happy and surprised to see that many people see this side of Jimin! Because it feels like not many notice this alpha side of him. This versatility, maturity is what i like about Jimin the most. He is strong and can scare/beat the sh*t out of you, but he doesn't abuse these qualities. Instead he prefers to be diplomatic, tactful, soft, warm, caring. It deserves HUGE respect considering how many males tend to show off their rudeness thinking that's what makes them mature dependable men. Duh. I mean, I know how everybody always think about Jimin like a little baby with a lot temper buuuuuut, he is more than that and the way you describe him is so exact and idk, just a little part of him but totally real. The definition of 'virility' is 'sexual potency in men'. Clearly Jimin doesn't miss it. He achieves more with a smile than by acting tough. He is responsible for his actions and never shied away. Beneath his angelic exterior, he is a leader. He does not hesitate to give his opinion and try to modify/improve things. It helps others feel better. He's kind and has a good heart for those he cares about... but he's a fighter. He would not have achieved glory otherwise. 'Manipulating' people gently is much smarter than puffing out your chest and clearing your throat to spit on the ground!

After watching this I can now totally understand why JK cried so much the night of that rainy day fight at the practice room they talked about during 2020 festa.. Imagine JM telling you to do whatever you want as he does not want anything to do with you anymore.. JK knew JM was not messing around when he said that so I can only imagine why he ended up so disoriented he did not even know where he was while trying to look for JM after he left the studio angrily.. I am just so glad that in the end, love won..

I see jimin as the alpha male because of his intimidating aura but wasnt sure of it because everyone else were saying otherwise. Now i totally get it. And even tho he's the alpha, he always lets jk get his way, like dropping honorifics and teasing him. So it seems like jk is in control but in reality its jimin.

And JK do have an "alpha" (don t like that term) personality, the way he does what he wants no matter what people think even being an idol (visible hand and sleeve tattoo, hair, baggy clothes) the way he acts and talkks to his hyungs even if he respects them he s not afraid to tease them (or stand up to them). But in his culture and as an idol it does because he will have to stand up to a lot of criticism, and he was really bold with it hand and sleeve tattoos can t be hide, it s not about tattoos hair and clothes making him look badass but the fact that he has a type of personality that push him to do what he wants and stand for it even knowing the consequences. I super love your Alpha Jimin analysis. That's exactly what Jimin is. As he said he is capable of making a way for himself. He knows his strengths & limitations. He welcomes constructive criticisms to better himself. He refrains fr asserting his leadership qualities so much in respect to his members & mgt. As for BTS Runs he did all the games not to win but for fun & laughs to entertain Armys. And his solo projects are not mere random choices but products of his personal creativity expressed to his taste of perfection. ❤❤❤
I think a lot of Armys view BTS members as one dimensional characters, most of the time it’s the persona that they show most of the time on camera. All of us have complex personalities and we aren’t the same all the time. Jimin has shown lots of times that he can be tough as well. One dominant Jimin Jikook moment I think of is the time that Jungkook was playing with Jimin’s sequin jacket and Jimin was getting annoyed.
I always saw him this way Jungkook was the one that brought me to BTS but once I saw Jimin he stole my heart and I could read him well from beginning, was just shocked each time he showed me something incredible. I love him for that and that's why he is no bias, also he manages to always put me high even if I'm low. No one, litrealy no one else can do that.

I am so proud of you for bringing this up! This literally took me back to the time when I first saw jimin and I actually liked him because he seemed to be very confident in whatever he does but later when I knew him more it felt like he is a soft guy doing the cute stuff all the time but after this I recalled myself what my first expressions and feelings for him were and this is so true! Jimin is a strong man in and out not just a cutie guy!
Actually I know nothing about BTS other than the song Permission to dance that I happen to hear during the pandemic. Then I accidentally saw a picture of Jimin (without even knowing who he is) wearing black t-shirt, black pants, shades and mo make up on. This picture caught my attention and I taught it was Brad Pitt, but looking closer, I realized that it was not. I said to myself: what an Aslpha! He carries himself with so much confidence but not in an arrogant way. Later, I tried to look up who he is and it was through him that I'm now following BTS, their music and advocacy. I'd say Jimin is not that "insecure, ugly, and attention-seeker" person that some haters paints him to be. He is a very strong person hidden behind that frail-looking, goofy, ever-smiling facade. He has a duality that is disarming and even misleading. Compared to Jk, which is much bigger in stature than him, I'd say Jk relies more on him for emotional strength and affection just like a younger brother, and Jimin is also protective of him. He is a tough guy who can be very scary once you cross his limits. Infact, even the members admits it that he is the scariest one among them once angered. But he is also the sweetest and most emphatetic person among the group. He is well loved by the members because he loves them so much that he is always ready to be there for them. Some calls him a pleaser which I do not think he is. He is just a guy who is so honest with his feelings that he is not afraid to show his love and care for the members which a real alpha would do: be there for you everytime you need him. He may be "small" compared to other members, but he commands so much respect because of his personality. So, judging Jimin as weak and mousy is misleading and far from the truth, he is dominant Alpha behind those frail-looking body which is more dangerous.
All I want to add to this is, "apart from him being an Alpha male, he is simply great. Jimin is a great being. I was drawn to him the first time I chanced on him on Facebook, an interview about his album with Jimmy Fallon. I went right away to search about him and that's how I keep wanting to read or see anything about this great being. He is great. He will do great things as well, he is already doing that."

I agree, Jimin is definitely a strong man, who is confident in himself so he has no problems deferring some things to JK out of love and trust. They have a good relationship built on trust, love and support when the other one needs it. Jk takes care of JM physically ( I will never not find JM’s muscle kink not funny 🤣 ) and JM takes care of JK emotionally. BLT “Deferring some things to JK out of love and trust” hits perfectly. He doesn’t have to because he’s the hyung, but he knows if their relationship is going to work well then he can’t treat him as if he isn’t part of it. They struck what seems to be a very nice balance that fits within their culture and also just works well for them.
Yes this describes their dynamic perfectly... I feel like jimin likes to entertain kook being dominant and taking control physically (eg the infamous run bts police spanking moment) but ultimately kook is more dependent on him emotionally (leans on his shoulder, wants to hold hands, Jimin comforts him when he cries etc )
In my eyes, Jimin is always a strong man despite me calling him my baby/son every now and then, being so slim and sexy, wearing women clothes, etc. I just feel like as persevere as he is, his characteristic is authoritative and reliable. And I love the way he is.

The scene where JM visits Hobi on his music video set was the first time I saw alpha Jimin. The way he walked inside was so powerful and I remember thinking "ugh something's weird, why's he like that?" Well, when I saw that scene it was my first month within the fandom. I was confused of what was happening, because JM appeared to be cute, adorable and happy, but there he seemed mature (not that he isn't), but I got a glimpse of the real JM and I perceived him as a different person, because he looks different when he's "mochi" and "Alpha JM". (Sort of like a shield) Also, Idk if you've noticed that within that scene, JK and JM were at odds. Which is why I believe JM went inside the shoot with alpha JM, because he didn't seem to much in the mood. Idk idk, correct me if I'm wrong. I always remember that scene because of how in love JK looks. At least that is always the vipe i get when i watch it. Idk why you think they were at odds that day. JM came to visit Hobi but also to pick up JK. They were both very weird about needing to leave because they have to be somewhere. So they drove home together and JM posted a few hours later in some fancafe that he was walking through the snow. It was the first day of snow that year!

Actually, that is the first video that convinced me that Jikook is more than a ship. I felt the sexual tension when they talked to the camera afterward...(maybe I was dirty minded!).

I'm happy that I'm not the only one to think this way! Jimin has always struck me more as an alpha male with a very high EQ (i.e. very emotionally mature and very good at understanding others' emotions). I see it in the clip of Tae and Jin when he tells both of them off but also knows how to keep cool and level-headed when he mediates their disagreement. About Jikook, Jimin being an alpha male doesn't mean Jungkook is a beta male because fulfilling relationships can happen between people who are predominantly alphas. Arguably, these relationships may be even more rewarding because they see the other as equal partners and support and want the other to achieve their best (power couple, anyone?) I wished the video was longer because there's so much that isn't covered e.g. Jimin telling off that kid on Hello Counsellor, or how he responded to "fans" who tried to control him by doing the opposite of what they wanted e.g. wearing the same revealing t-shirt, getting a new piercing. Maybe a Part 2 in the future?
I loved that segment on Hello Counselor. Jin was trying not to be too hard but Jimin was NOT having it and let the kid have it, albeit in a polite way. He was pissed and I loved it.

Magda la Perucha I personally think it's more likely to be the former than the latter. Considering the fact that we know how in sync they both are, even proven in this same episode when JK guesses exactly what line Jimin was thinking of before even saying it/describing it. Also, there's another run episode where a very similar situation happens, from a year or two ago, I'll have to look into the exact episode and give the time stamp if you're interested. But similar to here, he was going in, however in this older moment, as if to kiss JK's head and it is really quite obvious, but he quickly retracts. Because of this his desire is prevalent even though he resists because he remembers the camera is on him. With that being said, the same thing is happening here but within a slightly different context, I believe that Jimin instinctually goes to comfort and holds back because they are on camera.

Jimin-iss has had jungkook whipped but JK really was younger and didn't know what to do about strong presents but show respect. Jimin-iss always older had Alpha traits but his claws came out if it really had to deal with JK and Jimin is just as protective. In America we would say he may be a small piece of leather but well put together...so step aside.!!! Because you could handle your situation. 👍 So me Grams-usa Never Jimin-iss could hold his own he just had the Golden Jk who had his back and protected him lovingly.
