To this day, seeing Her with this lineup in Bristol is the best gig I've been to. They nailed it so well that the crowd demanded another encore. Jill came out and said "we haven't got anymore songs prepared, but I've had this hook in my head all day" then started beat boxing the feel and the band picked it up. The band just jammed out the idea for about 20 minutes with her freestyling lyrics. Pure class
If you’re talking about Bristol, PA. I was there as well. I was on hold for Mr. Blackstone, the bass player. He was at another gig previously. Chris Dave, the drummer, sent me the tracks to learn just in case since I had played for Jill and with Chris before. He made it, but still got to go and was back stage
this women is real talent. Spoken word, poetry, hip-hop, r&b, funk, blues, jazz, soul. Pure talent. a Real artist. love jill, i hope she never changes.
How can anyone with a shred of sanity give her a thumbs down? Cannot fathom how some peeps seem to get their jolly's on being so negative. Must be a hell of a bitter life they live....
KnightMoves Productions, LLC if any negative,, well they vote the same way they groove,,,,,, it will fell like what r beginning ta c with Trumps dumb Azz ,,,,,
How can anyone with a shred of sanity can feel the urge to comment about a handful of thumbs down? Cannot fathom how some peeps seem to get their jolly's on being so negative. Must be a hell of a bitter life they live....
OMG!!!! This band is ridiculous!!!!! Never heard a tighter band!! Spanky definitely set it off as well as Adam on bass!!!! This band is up there with the best hands down!
Spanky on drums, Adam B on bass and music director and of course Jill!!! This live arrangement is WAY TOO sick!!! Why doesn't this stuff go 3x platinum? I got all 3 albums Jill! I'm with ya!!!
Still in awe of the arrangement and blown away by the performance many many years after I discovered this. I wish someone could find the HD version of this gig because it's timeless!!!
Had to revisit this one tonight. Not only am I a fan of Jill Scott, but also an admirer of whoever does these arrangements that are so damn tight. The bassist is one of the best and being a bassist I have immense respect for what he is doing here. A true inspiration all around.
I love my young sisters and brothers that know how to tease some flavor out of our jazz roots. Too often I observe so manybypassed missed opportunities for the neo-soul crowd to pay homage to the music that spawned these subgenres...Bravo, Lady Jill.

This is Jill Scott's signature song. She says she performs this song because the first line is You're here, I'm pleased and she's says that's her way of thanking the audience for coming and showing their support.

I believe that's Randy Bowland. He's got a myspace page, and some serious chops! Just saw her in concert last night and the whole band including Randy were amazing.
That's George "Spanky" McCurdey from Tye Tribbett n G.A. represetin' Philly, Pa. He's got God given talent to smash like that. Where's the entire DVD for this show? The band is sOo tight, I need to burn a blunt and watch it over n over!!!!!
It's beautiful but I wonder how non-musicians see it? Seems to me like a fusion band behind her...which is awesome...but all I can concentrate on in the amazing musicians including Jill.....
