Jill Scott Tried to Make A Bad Album on Purpose 

I am a 50 yr old man, married for 23yrs, with 3 grown sons. My wife, my mother and everybody else of any relevance in my life knows my timeless affection and admiration for Ms. Jill Scott. A unique blend of intelligence, sensuality, sexuality, activism, empathy and unparalleled beauty. Oh and she is a dope artist! Thx for this podcast, Ms. Hill.

There is the perpetual sparkle that is in Jill Scott's eyes, and I absolutely love it!

When her first album came out with the image of her face as a little girl I realized that she lived down the street from me and as an adult she came to my job to get copies of her picture when she was doing spoken word in Philly. Then I realized we used to ride public transportation together. She would wear a black top hat and a black body suit. A couple of years later I met her through a friend and she recognized me from riding the bus although we had never spoken to each other. She greeted me saying "You're the 33 Lady!" She was down to Earth then and it seems that she has remained that way.

Everything about her is so beautiful: The cadence of her voice, the inflection of her voice, the truth, honesty and passion in her voice. Her smile….. 😍

My husband and I went to her last concert before the lock down. She told us to savor that moment, because we never know when we will be together like that again. It was literally the next day or two and the World shut down!!!! Thank you for that Jill because sweet love was made!!! 😜❤️

I worked on the crew of Dave Chapelle block party. Jill sang a song I hadn’t heard. She said “I can bring home the bacon, pay all the bills, but I don’t want to! I’m tired! I want some help!” That was the most “true human” statement I ever heard from a modern soul singer and it just resonated with me. I thought it was bold and courageous.

In my 47 yrs...certain VOICES has never left me...Anita Baker, Deniece Williams, Angela Winbush...as JiLLs' voice seemingly speaks directly to me.

I did radio full time in Atlanta and hands down SHE was thee best interview I'd ever had. Watching this brought back good memories of the business. I love her spirit.

I’ve seen Jill in concert 12 times and my 11th time…someone close to Jill noticed me during the show and struck up a convo and I was able to meet Jill and it was an experience I’ll never forget. We spoke about 15 mins about life and music and i was able to tell her how much her music means to me and how my mom was an Aries and Jill is an Aries so I feel that female Aries presence stays in my life. Being able to thank her and no I didn’t scream or overreact I was very chill. I hope to meet her again in the near future. ❤❤❤❤

It was the summer of 2001 and I was not hip to Jill Scott. There was a concert in Detroit featuring Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Sunshine Anderson, and Jill Scott. I was already an Erykah Badu fan and excited to see her. I believe it was Sunshine that was not able to make it so they brought on Jill early. OMG Jill Scott took us on a ride that I have not got off since! This woman is amazing. One of those artists you can listen to every song on the album. She writes and sings from a real place which is rare in today's music. And she is a great actress!

I remember when Jill Scott would come on the radio on Temple University radio (the show is called "The Bridge" with J. Michael Harrison. The show still comes on. PLEASE check it out) she would do her poetry WAY before the debut album came out. My mom (R.ise I.n P.ower) would listen & I'll never forget I told my that she's going to be big. Low & behold we got "Jilly From Philly". ❤ me some her.

Getting the back story on Crown Royal is amazing. I finally saw her live in Newark, NJ and my grin, and heart matched through the whole performance.She is worldly and loving.

Now my 15 year old daughter is singing her album cuts🥹….can’t wait to take her to the Roots Picnic bc it will be EPIC!!!

I just love me some Jill Scott. There is no other! The way she writes, composes her songs, she paints the picture and evokes emotions in you. So sensual and sexy. Love her femininity, softness and realness. Your soungs have been a soundtrack to many moments in my life. Jill made me fall in love wirh the City of Brotherly Love. I saw her perform at Chastain Park and brought Anthony Hamilton and Dougie Fresh. I stood all night and she gave an encore performance for the "Light of the Sun" album. This was herr sexy era. Glad I watched until the very end, I sensed this was recorded a little while ago (2021). As a day one, it is always a pleasure hearing Jill speak. Beautifully Human is my personal favorite. It was stunning to learn that she was dealing with so much anxiety and near resistance to fame during that period in her career. Her response re: why Crown Royal is so short "its all I had to say" LOL! Priceless. I will be a life long fan. 💗

We were at that same concert….massive snow storm and slid right on down to St. Andrew’s and it was the most perfect night! Have seen Miss Scott five times and absolutely adore her. Last year at The Fox, she performed Who Is Jill Scott from start to finish! Pure perfection!!! We had tickets in 2020 and the world stopped. “Crown Royal”, “Rolling Hills”, “Fool’s Gold” and getting to hear her perform “Slowly, Surely”…love that woman!

Jill puts on a great show. The best live performance ever, her voice, her range everything. Her voice is golden. I saw at Chastain in Georgia. I have every one of her albums. And she's a great actress.
