Saw Jim do this routine in one of his shows at the Edinburgh Fringe. he was a lovely bloke and signed every autograph/book/audio book CD for the fans. Old school and great RIP.
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.

1:26 - The producer Peter Harris sadly died from Covid in a nursing home in February 2021, he was 88. He directed Spitting Image, Bullseye, 15 to 1 and The Muppet Show among other TV work.
@@zoltan2977 Agree. We went for a drink with him after his gigs had ended and he was a very genuine guy. I miss those times. Worked in Empire theatre, Liverpool, for 30 years and met many 'stars'. Some nice, some not so, but Jim was a gent. Stay safe xx
I use to pick his Jag up from near Morecambe.. his wife was lovely he was very funny a true gent... When he paid a visit to the dealership he had us all In tears with laughter. His plate was j80 wen J Bowen awesome
I was born in 1984 and had only the vaguest memories of Bullseye on a Sat night when I was about 9, so I couldn't even appreciate Peter Kay's piss-take of it. It's 2020 and I've got ADDICTED to it on Challenge! I've never thrown a dart in my life but it's honestly more fun and suspenseful than ANY gameshow I've ever seen. It's also such a friendly show: Tony Green is brilliantly supportive to everyone. But mostly, I'm amazed by how warm, funny, informal, natural and off-the-cuff Jim Bowen is (RIP). I'm fascinated by his ability to connect with every contestant.
@@slashdisco 👍 late 80’s early 90’s was Sunday night not sure about the earliest series. Sit down after dinner with ice cream and flake watching bullseye. Ahhh simpler times ...
They showed the first episode of Bullseye on Challenge as part of a season of first episodes a number of years back, and I remember being taken aback by how genuinely happy Jim seemed to be when the contestants won the prize. It was really charming.
Sadly either Jim misremembered this or it is a made up story. From series 2 the minimum that could be won was £30 on either the bonus board or the first question so the Irish men couldn't have only won £20. In series 1 there were £10 and £20 questions but Tony Green wouldn't have laughed 'like a drain' as apart from one appearance as the charity thrower he didn't have anything to do with the first series! Finally it's the norm that the tv company will only pay out the cash and prizes once the programme is shown so Central (or ATV in the first series) would not have ' lost everything' as according to Jim it was never broadcast! So I think this whole story is a fabrication and just an excuse for Jim to drop the F bomb at the end.
Travelled with him on many occasion on QE2 always had time for you and always a true gentleman... Breakfast in the Lido was always a laugh if he was in there ... LEGEND!
we in Ireland loved Jim too. bullseye was an institution similar to spitting image. Jim bumbled and gaffed his way through every episode. great entertainment. and he could pull in the big names. George best, Bristow, jockey a great comic look what we have now. could someone tell me or explain how someone say, James Corden is funny
One time I watched bullseye the contestants didn't gamble for the star prize because they were saving up for a holiday to Australia and the money they won would help. So the next couple came on and won...... The holiday to Australia. I love irony.
A lot of people will be thinking of Stephen Hawkins right now, and rightfully so, he was a visionary. But my thoughts go out to you tonight Jim. You'll be missed, cracking lad.
Fond memories of watching Bullseye in all its glory with my grandad. In my thirties now but I'm amazed at how funny Jim Bowen still is. His comedy has aged spectacularly. Unlike a lot of comedians from that time, who have aged TERRIBLY, his comedy and humour has aged really well. He's still funny, and there's nothing mean-spirited or nasty. He's like Tommy Cooper, he's a classic.
Love Jim’s brutal honesty. Blimey I’d be happy with 640 pounds in this day and age . You couldn’t tell that story now . But what a great tale. God bless all involved specially the two Irishmen from Belfast 🤣🤣
He was and always will be a complete legend and an old fashioned gent from the best era -- the 1980s. Weekend tv was ace....dukes of hazzard, fall guy, knight rider, bullseye, sapphire and steel....a lot of it was just light hearted fun and we only had 3 channels but we looked forward to the things we liked.
Super Smashing Great 2 grand lads .....and youve got your BFH. Your bus fare home Your charity money....thats saaaaaafe By heck, youre a big lad. If you say its Friday.....no messin' pal (gesticulates hands, nods head, closes eyes)...its Friiiiii-day So we move on. Its round two and its pounds for points Are you askin' me, or telling me? Keep out of the black and in the red....nothing in this game for two in a bed Listen to Tony Pick a category. Sport, Jim. Sport we'd liiiiiike Let's just check the spelling with Bully (points to letters consecutively on bottom of screen).. No it's wrong, you've been bullied out (Bully slaps hoof over his eyes in disbelief and makes the noise "woahhhhhhhhhh") You know the drill, it's 101 in 6 darts, non dart player first. Bully's star prize lies behind the board and you know its always a bit tasty You've got the time it takes for the board to revolve to tell me your decision Well, come on audience, waddya think, come on help 'em Come and see what you would have won CLASSIC. You still cant beat a bit of bully
Yes. But Eric Bristow often said of Bullseye "yeah it was a decent earner, but Jim Bowen was useless, he never remembered his lines and we had to cut out loads and do retakes". Apparently everyone in the dart world knew it.
What a fantastic Belfast accent Jim had. Incredibly accurate. Can't help but feel like those fellas absolutely skinned Jim and his pals that day, but at least Jim got a good story out of it.
Bullseye was a brilliant show, used to watch it Monday nights then it changed to Sunday afternoons. Jim was a funny fecker and loved the joke about Scargill.
Thank you you've cured my covid! Seriously l was getting over it but watching this has done me more good than a weeks worth of "Colds and Flu" tablets!😂😂😂
You've got to realise that guys like Bowen worked the clubs in the 70,s.They had to be tough and quick to respond to drunk hecklers. Its an art controlling your audience. Your only as good as the last show. I respect that era of stand up comics.I saw a comedian die on the central/south pier in Blackpool ( forget which of the two) and almost felt sorry for the guy. Junior Johnson was his stage name.
I think this was a true story as according to Wikipedia, Series 4 of Bullseye had 29 episodes in it, which seems odd if they were filming two shows a day
There's a chance it's partially true but it's exaggerated and parts of it aren't possible. A second pair getting £640 is pretty much unheard of. The minimum you could win is £30. It was £30 or nothing. The series where they had to gamble the money and the prizes after Bullys prize board saw all 3 couples play the first 2 games. I've watched this show so many times I know all the formats lol
@@andrewsnow2954 Theoretically you could win £20 by getting a score of 20 in the normal dartboard round (treble 5, single 5, bounce-out maybe). I assume he means £30 if this story is true.
Saw him once in Caton a village near Lancaster. Wish i ain't bothered saying anything to him. Very grumpy "eh eh what was his reaction" with a face like i was trash!! said it didn't matter your a has-been anyway.
Oh get out of the left and right paradigm it's exactly what they want.. but if you want facts labour Closed more pits than the Conservatives.. but it's all controlled opposition anyway
