There's no one close to him being able to cut promos, especially these days. I don't watch WWE AEW, Wrestling to me died a long time ago. I keep it alive like this lol
Jim has ALWAYS been a well-spoken and articulate guy. Even when he's doing one of his profanity-laden shoot rants, he's like a thesaurus when he speaks.
He really is. I've always admired his off the cuff metaphors and like you said, he's a thesaurus when he speaks The episodes of his podcast ate interesting as hell.
This guy is a genius. He placed the seeds for his character at the start. His gimmick was designed to be two sided. As a heel; a spoiled rich Mama's boy/ as a face; a boy that became a man and got his independece. I guess he also blurred the lines by incorporating real parts of his life which makes the character more believable.
Not at all, too boring, we need cuts all 3 seconds and the authority wants moaahhh explosions :-D thaz guy never was böown uü in his car, welll cut to him being dumped into a cake at least :-D
I love how Cornette introduces the character. A nice, shy, rich, momma's boy who eventually morphs into an out of control spoiled brat with a silver tongue. Legendary.
Wow, talk about classic, legendary footage. I love how it starts out as a pretty straightforward interview, and then as soon as he mentions his mother and her wealth we see his true colors shine through. Seeing Jim for the past 35+ years on TV and clips on the internet, he comes off as almost bashful here.
Jim Cornette when he was a shy, unsure young guy who wanted to make his break as a manager in pro wrestling. The same Jim Cornette who picked up a tag team called The Midnight Express, a tennis racket and a large mouth and ego to go along with it. In later years, would help out with the development of talent in WWE, be a promoter in the indie scene as well as TNA. Today he is the executive producer of Ring Of Honor. And famous for the Dairy Queen fiasco on video too.
That's only because he knows no one else will hire him, so he and his fat bully sidekick Brian Last just sit there and make fun of people who are way more successful than they'll ever be.

He drew a lot of heat in MidSouth Wrestling.i remember him in the early 80's. He was the reason I watched. Just to see what he would pull on TV. He was entertaining.
There's some subtle heel touches in this that I wonder if I would pick up on if I didn't already know the results. That nice photographer is actually a rich mama's boy. I think that's rather brilliant because the fans that recognized Jim as the photographer would identify with Jim normally. He's the wrestling fan that became the photographer and is now getting into wrestling directly as a manager. Why, that could be any of us! Nope, you don't have the money. He's not naturally transitioning into a manager, he's buying his way in. Maybe that photographer gig was all BS too as his mother bought him the camera and probably greased the palms of the promoters to get his foot in the door. Because his mother is wealthy his accomplishments are corrupted. He's not a fellow fan that made the big time, he's the type of person that keeps people like you from making the big time.
And that was exactly his character. It's very much based on real life, which is why it worked so well. He did all the photography jobs and traveled and partied with the wrestlers and whatnot because he could afford it. Did he buy his way into the business? I don't know, possibly. The idea is great though, and he ran with it. Even if it was true, it was his performance that got him to the top. He's one of the best heels in the past 40 years. I think only Bobby Heenan and Vince McMahon have had that kind of heat, maybe Ric Flair at times It's pretty hard to be universally loathed.
Jimmy Cornette was the sole reason I was a manager with all the kids when we would play wrestling in the pool, backyard etc. This man was, is and always will be the best!!
Top psychology. Nice young man... Loves wrestling... Wants to be part of it... Humbly accepts he's not athletic enough... He's been a photographer... For a hobby... Because his mum has a lot of money... Now he wants to be a manager... And it shouldn't be a problem because his mum gives him money to do whatever he likes... But still a nice polite young man. Until the crowd inevitably and unfairly turn on him for having money. So he reacts badly. Then they boo him more. So he gets angrier and angrier and starts cheating....
The crowd booing him...think about it! That was the spark that Jimmy needed to light his creative fire! And he just kept on with it. It was definitely a wise move on his part...and he became one of the greatest heel managers of all time!
175 pnds, wow, that's a little Jim. Amazing talent, laying the foundation of his character with a simple reflection on how this is a hobby, my Mother buys me whatever I need, but not harping on it, so subtle it's near genius. When they really thought things through to the end.
back when jim was jimmy..so young and slim.what a thing to witness, after all these years to see how far he went.jim cornette is most likely the standard on all wrestling knowledge.a true legend in this sport
Raving ? Yep. But Jimmy ain't no lunatic. He's as smart as a whip and he's got a sponge for a brain, and probably knows more about wrestling, it's history and culture than any one single person alive today.
Jesus Christ shut the fuck up already about politics! Go actually listen to Jim fully and not just take snippets from things he says and twist them like most idiots like you do!
1:47 It’s eerily strange Back in the summer of 2018, jim Cornette indirectly convinced me to be apart of the great sport known as Professional Wrestling. I felt wrestling needed more people with level heads who wanted to maintain believability. But for very similar reasons as he stated here (I’m actually overweight for my size, not underweight), I chose to become a manager. It’s eerie because this is the first time I’m seeing this promo
Jim Cornette was incredibly respectful and humble at this age. In many cases people loss that quality as they become successful. That's not the case with Jim.
Wow, this was wonderful! Who would have known then what he would become. I have never seen him this toned down. In all of his promos, he seems like a prime case study for the benefits of decaffeinated coffee!
He gave us all a very gentle, yet very pointed, comment, when he said he'd do anything to, if you will, accomplish his goal of becoming a Manager. He also mentioned his Mother...which, in my opinion, not only set up for people as to what kind of a manager that he would be, but he parlayed those two elements into becoming one of the most Legendary Wrestling Managers of all time!
Lance had been around long enough. He knew talent when he saw it. But, what was true in Jim’s promo is that he’s always had respect for the business. I’m sure that didn’t go unnoticed by Lance either.
Jim started out as an amateur wrestling photographer. Makes me wonder where Dave Meltzer would have gone if he stepped up from reporting. Him & Jim where 2 years apart.
(From Hannibal's shoot with Jerry Jarrett)Thought it was so funny how Jerry Jarrett, was trying to do some match finishes, and Jim Cornette, the photographer was chatting up wrestlers and he was loud and obnoxious and Jarrett, was ready to throw him out of the room, and Jarrett, stopped and thought wait this guy is naturally annoying and would make a great manager.
Lance Russell is all like "Yeah, real different way to get into the business, kid, now mosey along." Then Jim went on to become the greatest heel manager of all time.
I want this confidence back in my life!! 😂 Jim: “This is my goal, and this is what I want to do. Whatever means I have at my disposal…” That ladies and gentlemen, is conviction and commitment.🎉
Awesome video post. I was a huge Cornette fan from his Midnight Express days, and I always wondered what his on-screen intro to wrestling management was like. Thank you.
