Anyone who wants to understand the inner workings of producing a wrestling show just has to listen to JC and there will always be an interest in wrestling history

I find it hilarious that A LOT of urbanites are pushing this "We need a Socialist Utopia!! Everyone will own everything, & greed will be replaced with fairness and equity!!" And then, you go to a city, and they are the biggest "capitalist pigs" in existence.

That site origination fee Jim was talking about for The Hammerstein Ballroom if you wanted to go on T.V. from there is totally bogus. You would think that they would be happy with free exposure and promotion. I would have relocated too if they tried that crap.

I'm afraid that wrestling as it was is going to go the way of the dinosaurs. It's amazing how things work out in the world. I'm working on a story that correlates/book that explores the striking similarities between American capitalism and the wrestling business. Ya know, when the big guys come in, after awhile a successful business that had made a lot of people a lot of money eventually weddles down a monopoly that makes a few people a helluva lot more money. Right wingers and maga hatters, I thought of this idea in an effort to explain to people like you, using something that most of you like, why an out and out true free capitalist society cannot, has not, and will never work.
@voisindo

Just a suggestion, if you are really going to compare an entertainment form that was completely controlled by a group of 30 men to the fairest system mankind has ever known - do some research. I'm guessing by your comments you are a socialist, so I'll try and explain it so even you can understand it. Professional wrestling in North America, Japan and Australia was completely controlled by the NWA and 2 former NWA members for about 30 years. Just like good old fashioned communism, where the bosses get richer and no one else has a chance, the NWA board met every year in Vegas and decided what was to happen for the next year. When technology ( cable tv in this case) outpaced the communist way of doing business, the best business mind out thought and outworked everyone else. Vince walked in and offered to start paying for time on TV. When Vince got into trouble in the late 80s and late 90s, he was saved by the fact that he had invested his money into his company and had ( as per JC) an office infrastructure that had marketed overseas. Pure, unadulterated capitalism works. It's when socialist style regulations come in to the picture that issues start happening.
@SSJ2Phenom
@SSJ2Phenom 2 года назад
@@voisindo I'm not a socialist and stopped reading your comment at that point because if you're gonna base your argument around me being a socialist then your argument and points are already wrong and irrelevant. Can't waste time arguing with someone over a point that I never made. No, my idea has absolutely nothing to do with socialism. My general idea was to use a subject to explain how unregulated capitalism leads to the downfall of small businesses and small business owners and how it effects supply and demand. Vince McMahon illustrated this perfectly in the 80's. Literally got so big and made so much money (taking viewers away from small promotions) that the little promotions were cooked. Idc about your views on politics or which side you completely worship and fall in line behind. Pure capitalism has not, cannot, and will never work. All unregulated capitalism has a specific effect on our society. That effect is: The rich get richer, the middle/working class never advances unless they get extremely lucky, because they're is nothing they can do compete. Which means that the poor stay poor. I've done my research. My comment/initial point wasn't a political one, but I get why y'all have to make it political. You wanna talk about socialism? Bailing out Wall Street or any huge corp for that matter, is indeed socialism. Passing tax cuts that benefit the rich over the middle class and poor by a margin of 84%, is indeed socialism. As a matter of fact, anything that our tax dollars pays for that essentially our whole society can benefit from, that is socialism. I'm advocating for these companies, that have gotten so large in their particular business that it's damn near impossible for someone new to make money at it and compete, to be regulated. Pure unadulterated capitalism does not work. It just doesn't. For example, we have a federal minimum wage because these companies that are making billions a year would pay their employees even less if they could. We have monopoly laws to make the market more competitive, there by creating more wealth and allowing the poor a fair shot at the "American Dream". All pure unadulterated capitalism does, as I pointed out up above, is ensure the status quo never changes and the poor/working/middle class is never given a shot at living comfortably and so they never progress. Unless they're given a lucky break. Vince McMahon was able to kill the NWA and territories because he had the funds and means to do so. NVM using his wealth and influence to do things like locking other promotions out of lucrative venues, steal other promotion's top talent, taking names from the territory promotions and copyright them. Only to make life more difficult for those territory promotions. There absolutely has to be regulations against huge corps. Nobody should ever be able to completely control a market. Why didn't VKM have serious competition after WCW for over 20 years? Simply because no other company had the means to challenge him because of the things he did. He didn't get to where he is right now simply by investing his own money. Crockett invested into his company too. Buying a jet so that the wrestlers could travel easier and to save money from travel expenses. Crockett even at one time insured his wrestlers. No, VKM is where he's at now because the company went public and garnered significant investors. After huge competition in the market (WCW vs WWE) allowed both companies and their employees to make more money then they ever had in the business. Look at where we're at right now. The market for wrestling has dropped significantly. I believe I read somewhere that the pro wrestling market has dropped by 5x from where it was 20 years ago. No other promotion had a chance. It took a billionaire to come in and start a promotion to challenge Vince. Now it's as it should be. Legit competition drives the market up allowing everyone to make big money and it provides fans with an outstanding product. Which, again, drives the market up and ensures most everyone in the business makes a lot more money. That's how any market should operate. Wins all around. Also, huge businesses and corps that corner the market take jobs and employment opportunities away from people. ✌🏽
