I like that he has reflected on the Rita Chatterton allegations, apologised to her and admitted he may have been wrong in defending Vince there, given what is being alleged now. Bret may get shit for being his own mark a bit and for being 'bitter' (i actually find his honesty refreshing) but at least he was decent enough to personally apologise to her if he did see her.

On Brian lauding Bret’s candour: A lot of people seem to forget that Bret has had his fair share of strokes, which - in part - can cause him to come across somewhat more emotional, more blunt than he otherwise might be on occasion. Some people interpret that bluntness as “Bret is always whining” or “Bret is just bitter”. Other people see it in a more positive light, like he’s a real straight-shooter and isn’t afraid to speak the truth. For the most part, I think given everything he’s been through, he’s about as “good” a man as you could hope to find in the wrestling business from his era. But let’s not forget that his post-stroke demeanour is to some degree outside of his control.

The most telling thing is how Jim sticks with is how he's surprised at how 'stupid' Vince was to get caught and that it was old age that did it to him. What Jim says about Vince ruining the reputation of the whole business is apt. Since WCW were bought out, to a lot of people, WWE (and therefore McMahon) = Pro Wrestling. I've always been a fan of Bret Hart and remember dreaming that he'd put the sunglasses on me when I was a kid. Although I wish he denounced Vince permanently years ago, I assumed he sided with him often for the sake of "The Hart Dynasty" even when Owen died (RIP). With a family legacy built on professional wrestling, the Hart family couldn't risk Vince McMahon hating them when he was the top owner at the time. If they still wanted to make 'the big bucks', Vince owned the company able to offer it back then. WCW could too but was axed. I've read ECW didn't even pay some of their wrestlers. Any bad blood back then could've ruined "The Hart Dynasty" where not only the Hart Family takes a hit but also any Dungeon graduates. Bret's niece is still in the WWE, and any animosity could've also impacted her career. I wish Bret permanently denounced Vince years ago, I understand pressure on why The Hart Family sided with Vince, but I am glad that this denouncement will be permanent.
