The Buckaroos and Old Man Jericho running a smear campaign for almost a whole year through Uncle Dave is what most of us have been suspecting was going on for a while now. Punk was the best thing close to a current WWE Main Eventer Tony could’ve secured and they fumbled the bag with horrendous leadership and childish behavior 💀
@@iivipii9900 Yeah we can’t always blame the brainwashed for being brainwashed… but with Cornette we kinda have to. How can you be a genius wrestling mind but still not understand that US politics is exactly like pro wrestling? In fact, many many people often compare politics to wrestling. So how does Jim not see it? The irony is almost too much to handle.
Cornette tell it like it is Trump and his Maga hateful domestic terrorist are a clueless racist White KKKA Evangelicals Ana’s lovers . He grew up with all that around him so he knows first hand how destructive they are .
Cm punk calling Dave and Jericho liars and Jericho a stooge as well was hilarious, that place is a ticking time bomb literally “who cares if your not medically cleared, it can be a squash match” has so many red flags like Saraya, Adam Cole, Danielson, Hardy etc this is a mess
Sammy Guevara just injured Jeff Hardy. Seth Rollins and Bret Hart should call out how reckless and unsafe he really is. 1/10 in protecting his opponent.
Said it before, my bro and his young daughters met Punk at Blackhawks game last year and he said he was super cool and way chill with people coming up to him all night. He even had my niece go on Jumbotron with him.
Colt Cabana is friends with The Bucks, The Bucks chose Colt’s side, Punk comes to AEW not knowing he had heat with The Bucks even though Punk probably had never had a conversation with The Bucks and The Bucks felt their presence was diminishing in the eyes of the fans when Punk debuted and then Punk got closer to the main event and then that’s when the shit started.
@@KC-vx5wo That should have been the first thing he did before hiring Punk. If it’s me, I’d realize Punk will make me more money than Colt ever could and would probably get rid of Colt.
That pretty much seals it. Their two fragile egos wouldn't allow a true star in the company, unline them two dorks who had never really made it on national TV.
@@troylechampion8082 It’s a no-brainer. Punk helps draw AEW some of its biggest ever gates, while Colt is frankly just lucky to be there. It’s harder to decide what to eat for dinner than it is choosing between those two options.
Punk calling Dave a liar and Jericho a stooge is the best. “Flea market company” LMAOOO. Punk sat through 8 months of Meltzers smear campaign, had Jericho in the media that he was a cancer & nobody wants to work with him, The Elite mocking him on TV & anytime anything good about Punk came out, Dave was quick to try & debunk it. Glad Punk finally spoke up!! I want him to drag all these people who keep talking smack!
As usual, Cm Punk vs AEW fanatics break out in the comment section with nobody addressing the obvious: we always read the same old punk insults (Punk is a Lockeroom cancer, Punk got whooped in the UFC, everyone hates Punk, Punk is injury prone (so is Wyatt and Edge who are paid the same or more but wrestles even less than Punk, Punk wrestled at least 20+ matches before he got injured btw). There was nothing here refuting that punk didn't work hurt that day. If Punk worked hurt, then he has every right to be mad and aew are very lucky that Punk hasn't sued yet. But the haters don't want to listen to reason but rely on the same NPC insults we read all the time. Punk is claiming that he was hurt going into the squash, there are hundreds of people working backstage, doctors, Evps, Tony himself. For all the people saying Punk is a liar: why isn't anyone coming out to refute this obvious lie instantly? Everyone is jumping to conclusions without hearing both sides, and I want a response from Tony Khan saying Punk is lying. But his current silence speaks numbers. Tony Khan and the other higher ups ilk are nervous, hiding skeletons in the closet, something from the public (rather let the unfounded dirt sheet rumors continuously attack CM Punk while Punk isn't allowed to defend him without slander when he does, he's labelled toxic) and obviously trying to force CM Punk's hand to sign an NDA before they agree to a release, just like they made Cody Rhodes and Mr.Regal do one (wouldn't surprise me if they witnessed how unprofessional and chaotic AEW is as a company), and CM Punk is the first stubborn person who hasn't bowed down, caved in to their agreement to an NDA because he has the ball in his court. I'm glad Ariel Helwani was the first reporter to expose AEW, and he certainly won't be the last.
Punk was squashed by Moxley on the go home show, and then immediately won a previously scheduled rematch; where exactly was Punk's whole journey of redemption, coming to terms with the reality of his position, rebuilding his lost confidence, having to confront his fear in an effort to attain closure, and learning new fighting tactics that would help him in his quest for revenge? When did all that take place again? I have to wonder if Mox has seen a Rocky movie himself.
Punk was originally supposed to get cleared and work the same night of the big Moxley vs Punk Brawl, then get squashed that night and having 4 weeks of trying to redeem himself.
Exactly. Or even could've been avoided by reaching out to both parties and getting both sides of their story, and then present it with a disclaimer that these are allegations, rather than as facts.
If he does not apologize he can stay home and take a buyout. Tnt/discovery is literally giving aew whatever they want and adding tv time. They don’t need punk to survive.
@@jaredgarrison333AEW is cheaper than cheap reality TV. Tony pays all his production costs. WBD is loving the fact that TK Khan is so energetic about putting out more material. Easy money
@@davey3884 Punk signed a business contract with Tony Khan, he can be kept off tv 'until he apologizes' but he's still getting paid every week. He's not the one mudslinging that's Dave and the other 'journalists' who he exposed as being liars at the All Out media scrum. Honestly the beef with the EVPs feels like second-place compared to how much Meltzer and gossip rags instigate everything having to do with Punk and AEW
Its so crazy to see how the biased wrestling media just highlights Punk's instagram stories/scrum and tries to portray him as unprofessional, whiner and trouble maker, but completely ignores that fact that he is doing it to defend himself against the fake stories that they put out in the internet.
Media is bias….. oh no another CM Trumper with alternative facts. I don’t like YB and Omega but he pulled the same crap against WWE with the podcast. He thought Vince’s owed him one for turning heel despite the original plan was Rock Vs Bryan RR13. AJ was going to be by his side but Punk nixed it. Very similar to HHH/Steph/Kurt triangle angle.
And it’s funny how the even more biased Punk fan ignores that almost everyone in WWE and AEW say the same things about him. He’s a crybaby bitch. It’s the truth.
Respect punk? Are for real? This guy is a child. That’s why at damn near 40 he was getting his ass kicked in mma multiple times in 60 seconds or less. A wanna be tough guy who thinks the world revolves around him but realizes the world and aew keep moving right along without him. This guy is so delusional he had the nerve at the media scrum to say I’m running a business. What???? No your not. Khans money is finding this company not punks. Last I checked punk is not paying salaries and paying to rent out buildings. Punk is running a brand and no one knocks anyone for doing that. But saying he is running a business just shows how far his head is stuck up his own ass.
I never liked punk. Until i saw how he handled the aew bullshit. Now hes a personal hero of mine, and im currently giving up my last vice of smoking to become straightedge.
Really wish Kurt Angle would have had the same mindset back in the day that Punk has now in that personal health is more important than anything. Kurt might still be wrestling.
Kind of a cart before the horse there though. He might not have developed those dependencies, or had them as severely if he had put his physical health first.
Apparently, Punk and Omega had a chat soon after and there's no beef between them. As far as I understand, it's the Bucks, Hangman, and Jericho. AEW desperately needs Punk back, and, if I was Tony, I'd pick him well over the Young Bucks and Jericho. Jericho's a turnoff and the Bucks are an anchor to AEW and Kenny. As for Hangman, I don't see him as a stooge to Meltzer, but rather an idiot who did something stupid in airing dirty laundry just like Punk.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Omega and just the others. Jericho we know has a history of bullshitting into Tony's ear to get what he wants and the Bucks just are a rip off of the Kliq who think it's funny to try and politick backstage in 2023.
@@portalMaster299 you’re right to think that, I think omega sees the bigger picture tho, and it would make sense if he were to put egos aside for the better of the business… the young cucks On the other hand
I mean, this would also make sense if you think back to the fight. Punk never attacked omega, it was ace steel who has, probably out of pure instinct and fear for his wife and best friend's lives 😂
I think Brian Last mentioned this on either the Experience or the Drive-thru recently, the most intriguing match could happen in WWE, at Summerslam specifically... CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes
Honestly, I think Punk vs Roman is a far more intriguing match from a story perspective. Beyond their on-screen relationship (Punk bringing in the Shield in 2012), there's a lot of stuff that happened off camera that makes it a lot juicier. Whether it be Punk not wanting Roman in the Shield (he wantes Hero), or Punk's comments about Roman on Colt's podcast potentially being the catalyst for the fans turning on Roman in 2014, there's a lot they could do with those two. Also, they're probably the two biggest stars in pro wrestling atm.
@@mrkhgn Lmao Punk is no where near Reigns’ level of popularity. Roman, Cody, & Brock are all 20 times bigger than Punk is in 2023. Hell, Punk was behind Cena, Rock & Danielson during his peak in 2012
A Punk/Roman match has the potential to be one the greatest matches of all time. Both are masters of telling a story throughout a match. Which is what a great match is about, story not mindless flashy moves.
If I was Tony Khan I’d tell the locker room no more talking to Meltzer, if he reports anything about CM Punk or this company all my EVP’s and Jericho is fired.
For some reason the word "interim" really puts a bug up peoples asses in that company. What it really comes down to is that Moxley didn't want to have the temporary belt going into a match were he loses to the champ... he wanted to have a win under his belt over Punk and say that he was the official champ before he would take the L from Punk. The guy is a mark for himself.
That does seem like what it was based on what happened. It was weird and didn’t make much sense outside of that explanation. Which is why Punks story makes more sense. That being said, I also hate the phrase “interim champion” though as well, as that’s just a dumb idea. No matter who wins it, you’re constantly reminding everyone that they’re not the “real” champion so why even bother? They never should have called it that, and just had the stipulation that if you’re injured while champion and have to drop it, you get an automatic match for it when you return. They seem to have learned this by now, but geez did that take a while.
I'll do you one better. He's such a fucking mark that he wanted to be the first 2x Champ before Punk, and wrenched his shoulder on purpose during the match to try and put him back on the shelf, knowing Tony would put the belt right back on him, so he could then be the first 3x Champ.
Hell I am trying to figure out how Rocky 3 made sense for the Punk-Mox match. Not just because in general having your biggest money match rendered into a squash was dumb, but also in Rocky 3, Rocky got destroyed by clubber in the first fight because Rocky had beaten everyone and lost his drive which didn't fit Punk's character at the time. Also while Cm Punk is one of my all time favorites, he doesn't really work as the conquering Babyface and always worked better as a anti hero.
@@TheSoundwaveprime Rocky was also distracted by Mick's heart attack heading into the first fight with Clubber. If anything HBK/Sid at Survivor Series was more Rocky III than Punk/Mox I was.
Idk if Punk still “has it” anymore but I do know throughout all the bullshit high school girl type drama, Punk has made infinitely more sense. I would have a similar reaction if Page/Bucks/Jericho were taking potshots and sneak dissing meanwhile my mouth is closed 95% of the time.
Aside from the freak foot injury he definitely still has it. I haven't rewatched Punk vs Mox, but AEW wrestlers affiliated with the EVPussies and Jericovid camps (including Bitch BaKKKer and her stooges on the women's side) have a track record of attempt to or successfully injuring 1. Liberals, and/or 2. People of color and calling it "botches". See: Jericovid concussing Danielson, Jericovids stooge Daniel Garcia sandbaging Santana's Dangerous Uranage (taking a Rock Bottom style short flat back bump instead of the more leaping up ala a hip toss style so Santana could rotate properly, thus fucking his knee up) etc... Upon rewatch I wouldn't be surprised to see Mox shoot wrenching on Punk's shoulder somewhere in that match to intentionally hurt him.
Just the discussions about or relating to punk is much more interesting than the majority content from AEW or WWE. Thanks corny for providing such quality content.
@@davey3884 All I can say is there are certain people Jim doesn't try to offend out of respect , homage etc. But with punk it's different as punk basically knows the psychology of wrestling business and Jim is interested in his work. I was also not a fan of punk but before you judge someone learn about how that personality has made an impact to the business than just make it a joke. Unless one want to just be a troll. They can just write anything about anyone.
AEW is turning more and more into late era WCW every time I turn around. Between the weird business decisions, to the nonsensical booking, to the backstage politics.
Moxley wants to be the “Stone Cold” of AEW. The Top star of the company. Meanwhile looking like a weekend backyard wrestler, and having Nick Gage style garbage matches. It just doesn’t go together.
@George H I don't read or believe any dirt sheet online, but I know that many people DO listen to Meltzer and believe everything he says You don't have to like it, I don't, but you cannot dispute that he has a following
Tony had no problem with putting his foot down... when the person he has to lay down the law to is a woman. That is why Saraya got fined for Twat-gate while Moxley says fuck at will. It is why he threw down on Big Swole. It is why Rosa is doing Spanish commentary for a company that has no programming in Spanish speaking countries. (There is a Thunder Rosa problem in AEW: Britt Baker has a problem with her and Tony simps for Britt.)
Not surprised by Punk's response to Moxley's idea. I remember his interview about his dumb ideas he pitched for his match vs Brock for extreme rules. He wanted a garbage match.
If you isolated his star ratings from the rest of his "reporting" I wouldn't believe it were the same person, as the written words give off a STRONG indication that he absolutely can't count to 7 1/2.
im a simple man. if i see "according to the wrestling observer" i close the page. its not even news, its just a bunch of people making shit up about people that they pretend to know personally. its idiotic
Since Jericho has gone to aew i have just lost all respect for him, I never knew he was such a coward and a politician, I’m glad punk called him a stooge
Love the irony of the same hardcore fans that praised Punk for the Cabana podcast and him speaking to power now have a huge problem doing it again in their new fave company.
If tony fears that choosing punk make elite Jericho camp leaves the company that's all ok even Kenny's replacement is there in osperay's form but there's only one CM PUNK ever born in wrestling
It's always interesting to hear Brian contextualising wrestling events in broader sports history. He doesn't do it often, which helps make it super effective in illustrating a point. Have to admit, I enjoyed Punk's silence while the Bucks were in exile, as Dave got more and more frustrated about his sources being cut off, while the stories planted by the Bucks got more and more frantic as they tried to ensure they were shaping the narrative around the whole melodrama. And there was Punk, gloriously silent and above it all
@@joesmoe8841 mjf had his best match not including Danielson with punk. not to mention the build with PUNK was magical. Punk leaving hurts mjf more than anyone
I constantly see people trashing Punk daily on Reddit, Twitter, RU-vid, etc. when he never says anything bad and no one ever says a word about all the pettiness that Omega and the Bucks have exhibited multiple times.
I don't think I'd like CM Punk as a person, he comes across as perpetually being in a foul mood and he communicates with no tact. That being said, the more we hear about this situation the more it seems like CM Punk was right and that he got screwed over. AEW needs Punk whether they want to admit it or not
Punk has an everlasting chip on his shoulder. Due to constantly being screwed over by people he doesn’t trust people. He is a product of circumstance. You probably want people being fake nice to you punk keeps it real and tells you what he thinks a lot of people can’t handle these kind of people because they get in their feelings so you are probably right
Everyone keeps saying Tony has a good heart and pushing this idea that he’s just a nice, innocent person being taken advantage of by others. Tony Khan is an adult in his 40’s who’s been allowing his executives to take shots at his other employees on his television show. He’s allowed them and Meltzer to run a smear campaign for months against Punk and going by this he literally suggested Punk go to the ring and work while injured. Here’s the thing too, this is CM Punk. If he’ll treat a guy with that much name value this way then how badly is he treating the Indy nobodies and washed up veterans working for AEW? Here’s the reality. If it came out that Vince McMahon asked a wrestler to go to the ring and work a match while injured like that then the same people praising Tony as a “good guy” would want McMahon tarred and feathered. People are giving Tony these constant passes because they see him as a fellow fan and think “he’s just like me” but Tony Khan has consistently proven himself to be a piece of garbage. He’ll enable toxic behaviour among his employees, encourage his employees to work hurt for his benefit and he’d rather scream at strangers on Twitter than do what a good boss and a good human being would do and put a stop to this bullshit. Tony Khan is a bad person.
They need to get Punk on the podcast. Just imagine how good that would be. AEW needs Punk more than they think. Their product is lacking major star power and the booking is a shambles. It's a pity certain individuals can't seem to accept that. I also hope Brian Last reveals some of the info he alludes to on the Bucks and Omega at some point. He's been dropping those teasers lol Last seems to have a great inside run on the broader perspectives of this story.
This popped up again, recommended by RU-vid based on my subscriptions and watch behavior and boy did I love listening to it again, especially Brian being Sooooo on point with his aggressive mindset! ❤😂 I love you two! I listen every day here!
I bet Jericho was the one behind all of this. Behind stoking heat on Punk. Behind goading people into taking sides against him. Jericho reminds me of Barzini from The Godfather. And I'm glad Punk isn't holding back either. It's time for Tony to settle with Punk, because his 'supposed' return would only be detrimental to Punk's peace of mind & love for wrestling. And then we can have a podcast between him, Mr. Cornette & The Great Brian Last.
AEW is filled with fans and wrestlers alike who are the lowest level internet troll, nerdiest of the nerd uber marks. Punk blatantly lets everyone know he doesn't care about any of that and its all stupid. Those same people whine and cry and talk about it nonstop to try and convince themselves that they have some kind of authority or say in the matter, when in fact, the real world doesn't care about any of it at all.
If Punk ever says screw it and sues Tony - he will own that company. Tony has done absolutely nothing and let's Harpo and everyone else take shots at Punk on tv.
Said it in another RU-vid video of this but still applies I will especially be interested in seeing what Jim and Brian say now that Meltzer has admitted that he knew Punk was injured-which is why he sent that letter about not doing the match- but withheld that information. Between the fact that Meltzer has flat out admit it to being biased and that punk basically was injured before they asked him to do the match, punk is getting damn near completely validated by all this. Punk may have handle it the worst way possible with the media scram (Though it was entertaining) but seems like all those grievances were legit. More than anything too, it says a lot that Tony Not only did Nothing to stop the conflicts but the fact he was going to let a wrestler try to work a match injured, says a lot about him.
In the end it seems like Punk will be right in all of this. If his accusations are true then AEW is a complete gong show run by an incompetent fool who let the inmates run the asylum.
@@collixioncowboy yeah that's what I am feeling at this point. Time will be kind to Punk in the long run over this conflict and we are seeing a guy clearly falling victim to bias journalism that is trying to slander his name at every turn. He may have handled this badly (and probably in hindsight was angry at the wrong people for the leaks since all signs point to Jericho) but his gripes were 100 legit. I think the more time progress, we will see not only with punk, but with others, just how ruthless and toxic AEW's locker room was even without the shit punk delt with.
@@TheSoundwaveprime Yup. Twice now Punk has exposed major redflags that have been brushed under the rug because he was way too blunt about his feelings and rubbed people the wrong way with how he dressed down fan favourites like the Elite and Hangman Page. I also feel like Punk has no real reason to lie about any of this since he’s still under contract with AEW and is close to being medically cleared.
@@collixioncowboy what's interesting too where their were signs too, with other wrestlers like rumors being spread about Cody and his wife being disliked (seem familiar), and conflicts wrestlers have with each other's. Punk just seems to have really brought more attention to it in the light.
@@TheSoundwaveprime The similarities between Cody and Punk’s situation is a little uncanny and now i’m wondering if it’ll be the same outcome with Punk ending up back in WWE.
