Highspots originated making bootleg copies of shit that isn't there's into an actual business. That's about the only thing they've done. They're fortunate in that you can get a business license and a website and a merchant account and not actually have to tell people what your business does, because if someone cared, they would have been out of business ages ago. At least Feinstein goes and copies tapes in the middle of his (poorly mic'd, poorly lit, poorly shot) videos, but Highspots goes and makes fully fake tapes, and then doesn't tell anyone it's a fake, so some poor sap thinks he';s getting a long out-of-print tape for a song, only to realise when he opens his package that it's just a shitty copy. I feel bad for those people that get scammed like that. I always recommend the guy I use who only sells the real stuff and he will tell you how to spot a bootleg. I tell him he should write and publish a guide on how to tell if someone is trying to sell you a bullshit copy of licensed merchandise.

Highspots, continuing the fine tradition of bootlegging stuff that's not theirs that was started by Rob Feinstein, the former king of pirating shit that he never owned. Saw one RF "shoot interview". 2 hour tape. 15 minutes of badly mic'd, poorly shot interview, and an hour of old, poorly copied WWF footage, all on a shitty JVC video with no label or custom cover, just his handwriting over the original JVC label in black marker.

Shawn did his on RF Video. Same taste, different flavor. Both "companies" put out shitty quality "interviews" with terrible video quality and crappy micing of guys, then "round out" the tape with a few hours of shitty copies of WWF/WCW bootleg shit. I swear, I think they give away their master tape and just send out a copy each time. "Well, we copied it once, so no need for a master tape! Just send that to the guy! Whoops, someone else needs a tape? Well, this is the master, so make a copy and give away that new master we have! We can always copy it again when we need it!" so you end up with generation #100 at some point. I have grainy VHS from TV shows I copied in 1986 from UHF that are better quality.

@MemphoWrasslin1 Too busy marking out to these guys and that's why the wrestlers don't take it serious. They're "working" the interviewer into probably paying way more than they would ask of someone who had a real set up and references. They know it's some kid with one camera from Best Buy filming in a hotel room next to the table lamp, so why take it serious? The one you take serious is the one you can get a wrestler to vouch for that has a nice camera, professional setup, lapel mic, his own lighting, etc.

@MemphoWrasslin1 I'm sure IF Flair signed them, they were probably shitty pictures (xerox copies on paper). You cannot imagine how many guys I see at wrestling events that sell 8x10s for $5 that is literally just a colour xerox on regular copy paper. People buy them, too! I'm like, "dude, I can hook you up...nice paper, professional copies, that kinda shit. You know, pretend like you actually care enough about the shit you sell, and it's always, "Nah, I can make copies for free at work, so I don't have to spend anything to do this"

Of course. Never get anything from them. Talk to other wrestlers and find out the good guys. Even if it's out-of-town. IT'll be expensive, sure, but this is your look. Do you want $5 tights, or $50 ones?

Sure, a shoot interview is about entertainment, not anything factual or real life, but the notion that the "company" (used real, real loosely) helps out these poor, shitty wrestlers with their obviously crappy promo skills is beyond stupid to claim. Because these guys need highspots to help them cut a promo. It's true. If it wasn't for highspots, no wrestler would ever be able to cut a promo. They'd all be sitting at home wondering what to say when given a mic. Yes, thank highspots, because if you can cut a promo, it's obviously because of highspots....
