Jim Cornette on The Shawn Michaels / Vader Feud 

As a kid, I remember Shawn’s title run. Dancing around with earrings and chaps, me and my friends rejected him. Once the Vader feud fell through, we switched to WCW. Shawn’s title run was about as boring as Nash’s first WWF title run.

The most baffling thing about the WWF/E's booking of Vader to me was making him run like a coward from Shawn Micheals. You're not going to sell me in the idea that the guy who went toe-to-toe with Stan Hansen and poked his own eyeball back into his socket mid-match was going to be running scared from a pretty boy half his size. There's suspension of disbelief and there's bullshit, and that's bullshit.

WWF dropped the ball with Vader. If they let him do his WCW dominance, Vader would have been a better champ then HBK. Nothing against HBK, but a monster heel champ like Vader would have been great.

As a long time resident of SA I think without a promo of some kind Jim would have just looked like Napoleon more than anything else. And an Olajuwon jersey would have been a better heat magnet to wear anyways.

I hate to say this because Vader should’ve been a staple for the WWF - however he had to deal with sissy man children ala HBK ... and because of that Vader should’ve never went to the WWF.

My favorite Vader beats the crap out of people story comes from Bret Hart actually. Bret was working with Vader and as usual Vader stiff shotted him. After the match Bret is icing his face and tells him "For the love of god Leon, take it easy on me next time." Vader was like "No problem Bret, I promise ill go easy on ya." So they have a second match and Vader again stiffs him. They get to the back and Vader is all excited "See Bret? I took it easy on ya right?" Bret goes "No! You fuckin beat tje shit out of me." Vader starts kicking chairs and screaming, getting mad at himself. But to get serious that shows you the difference on the professional level between Shawn and Bret. Brets over here like "Alright Ill do this program with Vader, Ill move on and thank god im still alive." Meanwhile Shawn whines and pisses to Vince about working with him and there goes 6 months of plans Vince laid out.

Vader was so great and it sucks he wasn’t champ in WWE

Both of shawn’s title runs,Vince sacrificed talent only for Shawn to leave 6 months later. Once with Vader and the following year with Bret. Shawn Michaels is great but sooooo overrated when you factor in all you have to deal with that comes with him.
