Butcher & Blade have a great look and are underrated imo. A great throwback to the big burly brawler Stan Hansen physique with the Butcher and the Blade looks like a man that can kick someone’s arse in real life.
RobertFrank615 True. I think they’re super underrated and Jim doesn’t think too highly of them from the looks of it but they actually have a physique, look of the type of wrestlers he tends to like and they look like they would have fit into the 1980s wrestling. Especially Butcher he has a real 1980s old school look to him. I think they’re really good
Same. I was familiar with Blade from impact and love Butcher's look. I'm into the names too. Maybe it would have worked better if those names were more explicitly nicknames. Whatever "the butcher/blade" something, but thats more of an NWA old school thing than what id expect or really want from a modern style promotion. Hell I loved Bunny as a valet even though I know she can go in the ring. I just think that whole group has been squandered and under used. AEW in a nutshell
I think they are under rated as well. I'm not saying they are the second coming of the Freebirds or what have you... but they know what they are supposed to do out there. They wrestle as heels, they get heat on the babyfaces, and then they sell for the comeback. They are a good solid team with some real upside to them.
It's a shame and these indy-riffic talents are given too much rope and freedom and they consistently hang themselves every week. Guys get less over with every match they are involved in.
Many of us wanted us to hear the ultimate evisceration of this match. There was a thread on /asp/ where there was a What If: If you were Tony Khan the next day, what would you do with AEW? You won't believe the number of people, even amongst their diehard fans who wanted The Fucks and all their cronies like Cutler, Excalibur and the like fired on the top of their list.
Not me. I have 0 interest in anything to do with FTR. Jim over rates their work. The only reason they look like a freat team is that so many other teams liok like shit. Plop them in a time with REAL tag teams, and they are at best upper midcard.
No one. Who even watches Jim cornette's podcast. I just come here to see the haters rant about everything AEW does for no reasons. Whereas you can clearly see more people like the show in their youtube like and comment section. No wonder Jim cornette was fired from NWA. He is one hell of a frustrated cry baby just like his fans
@@Hellwolf36 What you did like a survey or what??? People like Culter are required in the company to work as jobber. If you'd become tony khan, the company surely would have hit the skys😂😂😂, As in your company there you'd have no jobbers and everyone would've won their watches no losers😂😂😂
Joe Greene Taker v Michaels at Mania. Flairs and Okadas many bangers and thrillers. There are a few. If you mean in America though, then yeah, for the most part
@Joe Greene I'm not the promoter or agent, I'm not worried about that. I just want to see a good match. Maybe AEW can even put the tag ropes back up smh
I’d say I agree if it wasn’t 4 weeks after FTR debuting, 2 weeks since the Lucha bro’s returned and if there was a legitimate REASON as to WHY they are fighting. I guess they’re fighting because the young bucks took the pin at fyter fest?
@@Njbear7453 you might be right about that Young Bucks shit. I'm cool w/ them just tagging against each other though. Like I said, maybe a good match can come out of it. Maybe, AEW can put the tag ropes back up like I said in my previous comment. A lot of things in AEW haven't been making sense.
I liked the take of someone I heard, can't remember who, maybe wrestletalk. that they went "oh it's alright, of course you would make a mistake, you aren't the best tag team in the world after all"
@@manuelaparcedo417 that be too smart for aew. They could build it by doing an injury angle on that buck with the bad back to halt the match, meanwhile they Should've assaulted Cody up too with with help of any single star with potential for saying fuck the revival and that they practice their matches. FTR could've run rough shot over tag division. Then when the fans came back they could do their little dream match. Kids like us can figure this out but how the fuck guys in the business mess it up. Sometimes going with most obvious route is the best idea.
Honestly how can you say FTR’s booking has been atrocious? They’ve come out strong in every match they’ve been in. Also this long form story with the Bucks is going against convention.
They will say whatever get them engagement, and bashing AEW will give them exactly that. Always remember, Corny is playing a MJF character and then it will make more sense. The other guy who said it has been attrocious is actually more sensible.
Because they are one of the only actual wrestlers there and few of any could stop ftr from imposing their will if they so desired. Jim/brian seems to take the just ne Beat them fr and leave. Considering the clown twins started this fr and without the approval of ftr before hand irl. And aew are pissed at ftr for even going on Cornyn's show.
Because u can't keep putting good talent with dog shit and expect the good to always carry. This match made no sense and the booking has been nothing short of garbage so far
Jim is heeling it up! He's actually giving you game on how to be a *"bad guy"* in pro wrestling.. better take notes cause he's actually teaching us just in case if we do decide if one of us wanna become a manager or wrestler.. now as in natural form this show was good! Very good surprisedly.. Edit: Forgot to add *guy* to *bad guy*
I can see a two count in the ring. Though it sounds like they were on the apron. I don't care what move it is. A move delivered on the ring apron should be the end. If it isn't then someone should be fired.
I agree with your analysis, there was a lack of structure in the match. And they should narrow things down and keep the basics in check. So that we don't make a fool out of the show
Yeah, and obviously all wrestling has to follow this rule til the end of times lol. Jim can argue why he thinks that's a better rule but to be mad they're not following it just because ~it's the rules~?
It definitely hasn’t been enforced any time in the last 30 years. Even in real sports, rules change greatly over that time period and Jim still wants teams to be beholden to territorial rules from the 70s?
Telling a story there and building up to bigger things. All of these wrestlers know what they're doing and until we see what comes next it should keep viewers wondering wth is going on mate lol smh
Just hope they dont end up drinking the Koolaid along the way, end up like Jericho, and start becoming and defending the goofy shit . Starting to look that way tbh
To me, if you're the Bucks that's the dumbest, lamest shit in the world for them to book: Get the best free agent tag team in the world and...team up with them.
i think the plan is to give MJF time to seperate from Wardlow and form a new 4 horseman with spears and FTR. they want to tease tension beforehand whilst that happens, thats the way i think there building it, with a few twists and turns of teasing Cody as the leader of that faction, but its slow building rather than wwe of ignoring the previous storylines. i hope it pays off and looks amazing, and gives an old school 70's/80's faction to the wrestling buffet they are offering, whether you like that buffett or not. bare in mind from the new school, they wont like it, so its trying to fuse old with new. your bound to piss someone off with the booking erither way, i just think they are trying to find a middle ground.
I have to disagree with Jimbo FTR isn't the best tag team in the business. I would put Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly over them any day of the week and twice on Sunday
Speaking of "outsiders" I was watching The Outsiders vs The Steiner Brothers from WCW Road Wild. Now that was some tag team wrestling, especially for a bunch of "big" boys
I’m glad that Brian brought that up. I don’t mind the Young Bucks acrobatics, but whenever they try to brawl it instantly takes me out of their matches. I just can’t buy those guys as physically dominate over pretty much anyone larger than Marco Stunt.
Biggest problem with the AEW tag team division is having the tag belts on guys who aren't even a real tag team, they're just treading water with the tag belts until they can have a big solo feud out of it. The Bucks should be the tag champs & a team like FTR should be mowing through the other teams, chasing after the Bucks. Or any similar scenario that actually focuses on the tag titles as being more than a placeholder championship for an eventual singles rivalry.
Atleast the tag teams in AEW didn't lose to a wrestler whose partner was a kid and that too a championship match. All the teams kenny and adam have faced put on a very decent fight before losing.
When have you ever had to make contact before tagging the other person back in? I've seen thousands and I mean thousands of matches where the cowardly heel immediately tags his partner back in
The way to book FTR is to feature them as true outsiders. They should be booked like they are anti-AEW. Not as one of them. Because their style and message is no flips and they are the complete opposite of the Bucks and the other teams on the roster. FTR should be booked like a tag-team version of what Cornette thinks of the company but the Bucks as EVP’s, don't want that.
I thought this match was good but do agree with Jim as a whole that AEW needs to step up their game and maybe be a bit more serious. They’re ratings are getting lower and lower. They’ve lost over 200 thousand viewers since the start of the year. Just imagine if the NBA and other sports come back how bad their ratings are going to be. IMO they need to hire more people that actually look like wrestlers and actually wrestle to bring in more casual fans.
Coronavirus aside, no wrestling promotion is going to do amazing ratings these days, wrestling is a niche bit of entertainment, it's not as big as it once was and likely never will be. Why is this new breed of wrestling fan suddenly obsessed with ratings?
The bucks suck and Kenny Omega nothing but Indy wrestling taking a huge dump on the wrestling show guys like this is why the show sucks and they're losing people every time 😡
I dunno I REALLY liked this match. There was a nice dichotomy of styles on both sides and it was interesting as hell seeing all the different individual matchups as well as how both teams worked together. The Bucks and FTR starting out as more of professional rivals rather than out and out hating each other also opens the door for the story to burn a lot slower and FTR getting their first loss (though they were never pinned or submitted) because of the Bucks' mistake is a nice crinkle. Though of course Jim refuses to give credit to anyone else rather than his two golden boys. Like, even FTR were going nuts at that Nick Jackson/Rey Fenix rope spot lol
Thats because he has a bias going into this. Jim hates the Bucks and he hates Lucha Libre in general. He thinks that old school wrestling is the only style of wrestling that is good which is shallow approach. A lot of the 80s stuff as good as some of it was can also put others to sleep. Variety of styles is always a good thing in pro wrestling and this match showcased it and was brilliant. I am deeply invested into this story line going forward with FTR and the Bucks.
GilbertSyndrome ’Pretend fighting’ is why AEW has only 700,000 viewers. When you don't think that the performances should look like real athletic struggles and that it is not a big deal. Then the performance doesn't matter. Christian Bale isn't actually trying to subdue Heath Ledger but if I see Ledger helping Bale catch him. It takes me completely out of the story.
This 8 man was basically: >4 guys who have no clue how to put a match together, tag team properly and only their rabid marks defend them >2 guys who aren't the 4 but are regulated to midcard status >2 guys who know exactly what they are doing with tag teams and putting a match together but are getting fucked over by the 4 There were coop spots, tags that didn't make sense and you can tell The Bucks made this match. It was also insulting when they shook hands with FTR at the end.
FTR should have just signed with new Japan or NWA because aew isn't the right fit for them tbh. All the tag team matches have to be video game matches and make absolutely no fucking sense at all.
@@eviltwin8212 NWA's shit out of luck at the moment because of Lagana leaving and no more tapings. NJPW doesn't have any gaijin except for a few guys who are living in Japan.
I don't know which one is Matt. I only remember "Balding" or "Pieface"... Road warrior Skullet, is the balding one, so Roàd Warrior Buck, must be the shorter, piefaced guy.
@@mariomorales786 Hows he out of the business? He has a wrestling podcast, sells wrestling merch, does the fanfest. If you mean not part of AEW that's because it would be useless for him to go there as they would never listen to anything he has to say. Just like they don't listen to the veteran talent they already have in Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Jake Roberts, Dean Malenko, Billy Gunn and more! Cornette's fingerprints are all over the last 20 years of the WWE. Guys like Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Dave Batista and more all went through OVW when Cornette was part owner. So you can't say Cornettes not a pro because you don't have your name tied to that kind of talent if you're not! The Young Bucks and Omega don't like Cornette because he tells them that they have to work better and sell better and they don't want to hear it. Harley Race booted Omega from his wrestling camp and if that doesn't tell you something I don't know what will!
It gets him views/downloads and press. The uptick in discussion around Cornette's podcasts when he is laying it into AEW or WWE is noticeable compared to how much attention his shows get when discussing Bobby Eaton, for example.
I love Jim, but he sounds like the basketball purist who doesn't want to accept that everyone is shooting from the 3-point line & not using a classic post-up game with a traditional center.
@@Mukuljain19 Or he can't get over the fact that Pro Wrestling is at it's lowest popularity ever in the States. With ratings and attendance the lowest ever in the past 2 years.
I actually think this match did a good job of elevating the Lucha Bros and Butcher and Blade from being more than just jobber tag team. I get people want to see the Bucks vs FTR, but the other tag teams on AEW need a push as well.
@@ashwinkrishnan4435 I hate to admit it but if they are masked and another race other than white they will not get over as much except for a couple exceptions..

@ShadowAngel Your right about Rey and Eddie. When they were at the top of the card. The Business was on a decline. As far as Asuka she could walk in any Airport in America, and nobody would have a clue who she was.

i actually didn't think this match was as bad as jim as making it out to be...and i also don't see how FTR's booking has been atrocious either. i'm not AEW's biggest fan but i feel like i watched a different show than jim did. though i will agree the 'tough guy matt jackson' thing is pretty stupid. the two man northern lights....that's pretty ridiculous
@@kenrickkahn you're an idiot. Young Stone Cold had Bret Hart who is light years better than almost everyone today. He made him better. Young Undertaker had Bruiser Brody, and others who taught him how to work and keep kayfabe. The point is they helped them get better, FTR cant because the opponents dont wsnt to learn or they cant learn.
People been wanting ftr vs yb. Ftr cut a promo about being the best tag team in the world and went to aew to prove they are the best. And what do they do when they arrive at aew????they fight along with yb.....think.about that a second.
I was so excited to see what FTR does in AEW, & their regular tag matches have been great so far, but this weird ass story line with the Bucks & the Butcher & Blade is pretty bad. I understand that they don't wanna blow their load so soon right of the bat, especially with no friends, so i can understand waiting to do the feud with The Bucks....But this strange relationship they are having together is just awkward...They should have just come in and started going through every tag team one by one. Do what they do best. TAG TEAM WRESTLING.
Okay, I get it, Cornette wasn't watching WWE for the near decade I was, he's ignorant, so he made a mistake. But WWE letting guys tag out without making contact is not a NOW thing. I remember the first time Chris Jericho stated that was a rule, on a WWE show, back when NXT was still a contest show that buried the best contestant, and had to question what program he had been watching. It's only natural that Chris Jericho would be the one to call out All Elite Wrestling on it's lacking tag team psychology. I now realize he's been doing it for about as long as I spent watching WWE, if not longer. Poor guy.
I wouldve liked to see ftr come in and completely ignore the bucks. Treat them like theyre not in ftr league. Blow through the tag division, win the tag titles and make the bucks earn the right to be in a ring with them.

Teaming up the awesomeness of FTR with the Bucks is like when Elton John tried to marry that chick: it’s not going to work out, no matter how talented one half of them is.
Lucha Bros aren't special in AEW because they overdue it and everyone else does the flippy spots in AEW.. compare to Lucha house party who are probably less talented but when you see some of their high spots in their matches you go Wow, these guys are athletic and entertaining
There is way too many tag matches on AEW, imo. I remember them having like 5 in one week. Like, wtf? That and burying their newly introduced big men is an AEW tradition, it seems.
Losing a single match is not burying..... Burying is when you lose a match and the company stops pushing you and giving you tv time or getting you involved in storylines. Considering they are still getting tv time and involved in storylines they are not yet buried. If they start booking shows on your logic then no one lose matches everyone will win.And btw atleast the tag team division is getting the recognition it deserves.
Never heard of the rule that a man has to make contact with an opponent before being able to tag again. Never noticed it either. In concept I don't mind thr idea of abusing the double team time frame to get all 4 in as long as its reasonable. But honestly I don't like these massive double team tag team matches or really anything multiman outside of like a rumble. The frequency just gives me the impression "we got no idea about what to do uh all you go in the ring" see the women's division.
At 3:56, the “New Day”, when they’re in a “6-Man Tag” match, they always keep tagging eachother in, over and over, to get more time in the ring together!!
Yancy Garcia No, the rule is if u tag u have to hit the opponents once before tagging out. New day stomps a mudhole in someone and tags out repeatedly. In this match they just tagged in the spot he’s referring 2.
I've seen in WWE at the very beginning of a match the heel tag out cuz he doesn't want to face his upcoming face opponent. WWE done made that rule, tag rules have changed since Corny's time.
TANMAY LAGHWE if this a joke comment I apologize in advanced but if you think a guy that weights 190 at 20% body fat is even remotely close to Roman reigns you are out of your mind
If only we can get Jim in the mix of things.. Jim as the FTR's manager and we would be seeing something.. Imagine the Young Bucks and Jim trading back work shoot jabs.. That sh_t would be fun to watch.. You can say what you want about the Young Bucks but they do have excellent mic skills..
I wish Jim was booking AEW. Given full control. It would take a while to change the culture of that companies nonsensical direction but if Cornette was given free reign and his heart was into it. He could make it happen.
About the tag rules he says "You can't just make this stuff up!"......actually yeah, you can. Every wrestling promotion has created and/or bent the rules to suit them at any time they wanted. It's literally a production of entertainment, as much as you want to believe it's still the early to mid 80s and kayfabe is still a mystery to the fans, this is reality
If you're AEW you should be putting FTR in position to hit a home run every time they're on TV, or at least a triple. They're already hurt by aligning with the Bucks. And to Corny's point about the ref allowing double teams, that's what infuriates me so much about the Young Bucks: THEY DON'T KNOW THE BASIC RULES OF TAG TEAM WRESTLING!!!
Tagging in and out of wrestling is actually fairly new. It started early 1970's in Texas & was ridiculed. Before then it was just a rotate in and out, with rules. Originally in Africa where 2 on 2 wrestling started it was more or less elimination 2 members same team in circle at same time, went to England where you tell ref "I am out" to Mexico where it was lucha style. Then now the new system is tag
I agree with you except for the fact that NOBODY has buried FTR and a bunch of other great talent more than Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn. I don't care what you say or how much you try to defend Vince. He shits on alot of great talent. AEW is fucking up but, at least, they see fit to have them featured in their crap. Even if you didn't like the match, at least, AEW sees FTR as an asset and put them straight into the forefront, whereas Vince didn't give 2 shits about them. That in itself is commendable, even if AEW is booking them wrongly. AEW is far from great. They have a long way to go and alot of restructuring to do but WWE fucking sucks. NXT is the best thing they have going and it hasn't been great as of late. I'm a fan from way back. The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) were my favorite tag team of all time. I have great respect for you and your opinions of the business. I agree with almost everything you say. But, even though I can't sit and watch a full episode of AEW or WWE programming, AEW, at least cares. Even if they have a niche audience. They care. Vince doesn't give a shit. WWE is too well structured and too established to be booking as badly as they do and to be burying as many great wrestlers as they do
@@malikevans2615 they could have signed with aew and speak up about tagging and pacing. Instead, they just began doing what aew is known for...do whatever you want and ignore the referee
Are these two watching the same show? Both FTR and Bucks have cut promos in the ring just before Fyter Fest It's just not your kind of wrestling. And you hate bucks, let's leave it at that.
Brad Paton Canadian Destroyer is the finishing move of Petey Williams, a native of Canada and was used during his TNA run. None of these individuals are Petey Williams or Canadian, so it’s just a flip piledriver.
X man AEW won’t be able to survive if they keep losing fans. They started the year with over 950k viewers and are now at just a little over 700 for a few weeks now. They will be in trouble if the fans keep tuning out.
The young bucks in dunce hats just looks so right!! If only they could go to wrestling school and actually learn to work but I fear the dunce hat scenario would only be repeated
@ShadowAngel I'm neither a mark for WWE, nor AEW, but you're definitely one of the bigger, more emotional marks I've witnessed on RU-vid, mate, lol. It's remarkably cringe-worthy.
The booking of FTR has been atrocious. They are truly elite talents being dragged down by the bush league culture of AEW. FTR is a ready-made team with real training who knows how to work. As opposed to the nonsensical Bucks who are a cheap DX/Hardy’s/Rockers cover band. Two guys who can't work real matches. Just nonsensical high spots. They are a symbol of AEW’s bush-league culture.
@@eviltwin8212 My point is pretty good, though, you're all supposed to be fans of wrestling, yet you continually cry about it not being realistic. Newsflash: it's never been realistic in my lifetime and I'm 34 years old. When was this amazing, gritty, realistic era of wrestling that you guys were watching? 1975?
I can see a vision of why they're booking FTR this way, when the pandemic is over it'll make complete sense. Covid and no ticket sales or crowd has flipped all wrestlings booking on its heads.
GilbertSyndrome Wrestling is at its best when the matches look like real physical contests. Like it's a real struggle to win and not lose. It's not supposed to look like the wrestlers are working together to catch each other and do fun spots. The best performers in the wrestling business are those that make their physical struggles look real and not like a video game.
The FTR wasn’t booked correctly in WWF and now they are not being booked right in AEW at some point we may have to consider if FTR is not as great as they get credited for somehow
Why are people hyping the hell out of them and blaming the promotions they work for? Having seen them several times now, I'm still wondering what I'm supposed to be blown away by.
Tbh ftr sucks and are a mid card tag team at best, same with Cody, hager and spears, these guys are midcarders so they were pushed as midcarders in wwe. Jim needs to stop overhyping these guys
It so weird they had them lose their first match and have them tagging with the Young Bucks. I've never heard anyone say they wanted to see that. They should've laid out the Bucks in the back the first week. Whodunit?!? then came out and laid waste to a couple tag teams at the end of a match later in the show to close it out. Or drag it out for a couple weeks then have them come out and cut a promo on the Bucks. With the exception of Jericho, Moxley and Cody Everyones booked 50/50 it seems like. They make sure no one stands out.
