I rolled my eyes when Marko Stunt kicked out of The Penta Driver. That spot ruined the match for me. Instead Jungle Boy should've ran in and broke up the pin in that situation

Jim Cornette really needs to start speaking honestly, sometimes it seems like he's trying too hard not to hurt anyone's feelings. It can be hard to know what he actually thinks sometimes.

AEW wasn't able to get any more big stars to jump ship from the WWE, so they settled for their Make-A-Wish kids and hired Marko Stunt.

I'm sure Marko's a good guy and that he is a decent athlete in his own right, he can probably do tricks on a skateboard or dirt-bike that would impress Tony Hawk, and he's definitely got plenty of heart trying to go against the odds and live his dream, and usually I applaud that, even admire it, I genuinely do. But some dreams are just unrealistic. Hey, just like Jim here I too dreamed of being Ron Jeremy (1979 Ron Jeremy of course, when he was fit and good looking), but reality and genetics say that was never going to happen. I watched once when this kid with Downs Syndrome, with dreams of being a pro basketball player, Shaq brought him out on court, lifted the kid up on his shoulders and let him dunk a ball, the crowd cheered and it was a genuine feel-good moment. That didn't mean owners of the Orlando Magic were going to sign that kid up as a regular player. No matter how much heart Marko has, no matter how inspirational his efforts are, that doesn't change the fact that physically he makes Spike Dudley look like Bubba Ray (I'm 54 years old and these days my exercise comes more from Krispy Kreme and I could take this kid) and continuing to put him in matches just makes AEW look like Amateur Hour.

Jungle Boy a future star sounds funny now.

Jim was totally right when he said Jungle boy should have went out there alone and tried to go against the Lucha Bros. It would've made him super sympathetic and if they would have had somebody run out to be his tag team partner and get the hot tag that would have been cool also. Let's just chalk it up to the bad match booking. I actually really like AEW but they have some work agead of them.

The sorry thing is, having Lucha Bros vs Jungle Boy in a handicap match would have done so much more for Jungle Boy and made Lucha Bros look even more menacing

I remember being at this show in Philadelphia. I was really excited for jungle boy and Luchasaurus va the lucha bro’s. When marko stunt was announced as the replacement I started booing and all the soy boy fans turned around and looked at me like I was an alien.

People also forget that despite Rey Mysterio being a once in a generation talent, he was also booked to LOSE and work as the underdog in ALL of his matches. Now compare Rey's level of talent and the fact that he has almost 100lbs and 4 inches on Marko. Marko shouldn't even be able to get a forearm shiver in offensively.

At least Rey Mysterio has some muscle on him even in the WCW days.

I understand completely, and I pretty much agree. However, we can't deny the facts on this one. They had 2 hrs, to come up with something. They gambled and for this week it worked for them. For everyone who says Corny is out of touch, he just booked 3 ways to get around this injury that would have worked way better than what AEW actually did, just riffing off the top of his head. If I were AEW I would hire Jim and say "you have to push who we tell you to push, but you get to achieve that goal however you think will work best" WWE would be screwed.

It's so odd in 2024 hearing Jim call Jungle Boy a future star. But it is also concrete evidence that Jim doesn't hate on AEW or its talent until they squander their potential or get mired in garbage angles or present garbage en masse.
