"Don't do SHIT... you don't know how to do!" Applicable to nearly every outlaw mud show out there nowadays and even some of the bigger promotions on occasion.

It's one thing to impersonate the voice. Jim Cornette picked up perfectly on Dusty's cadences and inflections and tone as well especially as he showed different emotions. That is a work of true comic genius!B.W.

It's funny, I was just commenting above that when I hear Cornys great Dusty impression I also hear the late Mitch Hedberg, the same rhythm and cadence, the use of pausing. It takes great comedic skill to do it so well like Corny, I wouldn't be surprised that Hedberg was a fan in his youth.

I was kinda thinking that too. But Mitch grew up in Minnesota. But in the mid 80s he coulda been watching Crockett on TBS. "We need you to rewrite this script. Fuck that....Ill make....a copy.. lol. Love Mitch so much. The fact his jokes take 15 seconds at the most and he does 30 to 60 minutes. Others jokes take minutes or so.

Dusty was over huge in damn near 90% of the country. Over huge as a heel in the AWA which was like 70-80% of the mid-west. And over huge as a face in the NWA which was about the rest of the country except the north east.

I often wondered if Dusty was accepted by most of the black wrestling fans back then, or if they thought his preacher-like manner of speaking might have been interpreted as a mocking, borderline racist imitation. (And it was not, btw. At least history is right on that point.) My black friends in school didn’t follow wrestling at all or know Dusty.

It was so funny watching wrestling as a lil kid with my parents and brothers. They get so involved. Like they are part of the match. Don't let my mom see Dusty fighting Rick Flair. She talked more trash to Flair than Dusty ever did. She was his number 1 fan. I miss watching wrestling with her and my dad. Back when wrestling was great. The 80s and the 90s.

I remember "Learning the Ropes." It was an 80's sitcom where Lyle Alzado, a legendary football star, played a high-school teacher who moonlighted as a wrestler called the Masked Maniac. And actual NWA wrestlers appeared on the show, like Arn Anderson, the Road Warriors, and Stan Lane. BTW, the actor who played his teenage son, whose name is Yannick Bisson, is now a huge star on CBC, starring in "Murdoch Mysteries."
