I was 14, a sophomore. Saved all my babysitting money to buy my albums. My sweet older brother left me his record player when he went to college 2 years earlier. I thought it was a joke, a horrible, horrible joke when I heard of Jim's death on the radio. I balled for days. I'm 66 and still listen to his music. I'd love to see A.J., meet him and hear him perform. I'll bet he sounds like his father. Yeah A.J., there are still people who love your dad's music. I'll never forget. 2024
Im turning 62 Tuesday Oct 25 2022, im a percussionist in a classic rock band still covering his Great songs today, So tragic, miss him dearly but the great thing about music is it lives on 4-ever.
I remember driving to work in 1973 and they'd just played three Jim Croce songs in a row ending with Time in a Bottle when the disc jockey announced that Jim had died. I pulled over and cried and I still weep for this man and the loss if his music we never got to hear because he never lived to make it.
I remember the new of his passing. I was 13...my older brother woke me in my bed....last night I was at his son's performace "croce sings croce". Along with his own original blues tunes, he sang a bunch of his dad's songs and told the stories behind that. His guitar was note for note of his dad's style .
Loved him. Very talented singer songwriter. Another one who died too young. Only 30. He was from South Philly and taught in Upper Darby (Jr. High) for a while before his fame. His wife had sung with him for several years. I have a cookbook she wrote. You can find their son on youtube also. AJ Croce. Especially love Time in a Bottle and Age.
My first record I bought with my own money was a Jim Croce album. I think I was about 10. When it was delivered I was so proud and played that thing over and over again for many years to come. Even at such a young age, his lyrics spoke to me, because he was so real and genuine. By the time I reached my late teens, I knew most of his songs backwards and forwards. The only regret I have is not being older, to have actually seen him in concert. Thank you Mr. Croce for sharing your talent and making this world a better place simply because you were here.
I had to get his records brought to Scotland by my Canadian relatives as we couldn't get them over here. Photographs and Memories in vinyl remains one of my most treasured possessions to this day. Hail hail from Glasgow
This song was a premonition to his early demise, "hey tomorrow do you have any room for me". His mortal body gone so soon but his songs will remain immortal.
I was only 12 when my brother introduced me to the music of Jim Croce and I was forever hooked. It's sad his life was cut so short his music will forever live on in the hearts of all Jim Croce fans 💔
Even though I was just 4 when Jim and Maury died, their music has had a profound effect on my life!! Thanks guys!!! Hope you will shake my hand if I'm lucky enough to get to Heaven! RIP Jim and Maury 🙏💔😢
my stepdad played jim croce all the time in the 70s and when he died he came home and cranked his albums on the quadraphonic stereo all night lone and he is past now but i than him for turning me onto his music and i play it all the time
All of these folks who have posted here are speaking from my soul and words as much as their own.. one untied feeling and voice .. we’re all from different walks of life here.. and only man could have united everyone here with such a single emotional outpouring- Jim Croce.
magic song. tomorrow i am going into the arms of my lady to hold forever. she is my whole world. and jim will always be a magic folk singer. wish he was still here gone way before his time.
Please live your life and try to practice being Happy..... Taking a short cut out f this world ... May end your misery...but it will magnify the misery of those you leave behind . Haven’t we all suffered enough without piling on more pain. This too well ll pass ...we two will pass soon enough as it is. Let it be ...please just let it be ... for all our sakes. I am Your Friend. 😔💔✝️🦋🥰 6/1/2020
This was my favorite song of his. It was the last track on his most popular album. Could never find this song on his greatest hits CD's. never could understand why
jfq722 I heard the demo version, but I liked the finished product with " ..........she'll have me" instead of "..........it'll have me". Different strokes for different folks.
I thought I knew every Jim Croce song but this one seems new to me. Thanks for posting it. He was one of the first singers my brother and I were ever enthusiastic about. I don't recall that he had much of a publicity machine. He spread by word of mouth and a few radio stations at first. I still miss him. For some reason he and Creedence Clearwater Revival are always paired in my mind from my childhood.
Hey Tomorrow such a beautiful piece if Jim only knew there would be none when he boarded the ill fated plane......you had so much to share to this world.....life always a mystery....enjoy every moment till the flight changes to eternity.
Hey tomorrow, where are you goin' Do you have some room for me 'Cause night is fallin' and the dawn is callin' I'll have a new day if she'll have me Hey tomorrow, I can't show you nothin' You've seen it all pass by your door So many times I said I been changin' Then slipped into patterns of what happened before 'Cause I've been wasted and I've over-tasted All the things that life gave to me And I've been trusted, abused and busted And I've been taken by those close to me Hey tomorrow you've gotta believe that I'm through wastin' what's left of me 'Cause night is fallin' and the dawn is callin' I'll have a new day if she'll have me Hey tomorrow, where are you goin' Do you have some room for me 'Cause night is fallin' and the dawn is callin' I'll have a new day if she'll have me I'll have a new day if she'll have me
Here a bit of a trivia about Croce, right after he died so suddenly his record company needed a new artist to fill the gap they suddenly had. Turns out the guy they tapped to bring in was none other than Jimmy Buffett. Turns out Buffett and Croce had actually met a couple times. Now, please understand, that is not to say that Buffett would never have been discovered if Croce hadn't died, but it might have been a little longer until he got his own record deal.
Buffett started out with a very similar sound. Then he had this big hit called "Margaritaville" and the rest is history. You could write a book about how well he's milked that one song for every dime he could get out of it. Very little real talent, but a whole lot of business savvy.
Truthful man & that's why THEY murdered him! Can't have a balance of duality which JC had.I grew up on this music & I love it.I pray future music will be this good b/c what music we've had in the last few decades is 💩.Come back, please?I wish...😎🇺🇸👊
