I've seen Jim and the band live a few times and Anne Lindsay stands out as one of the most expressive performers that I've ever seen. She is an uber-talented player with passion and feel and she just SELLS it!! (Not to mention the fact that she's drop-dead sexy which is just the cherry on top of an amazing dish!!)
I was at the closing show of this tour in Montreal. What an absolute blast. Easily one of the best concert experiences of my life and I’ve been to a shit ton!
This song reminds me of my first love. We never did get together romantically, just stayed as good friends. But I never felt like that about a girl before, and never felt it since. I think she felt the same about me, but it was just bad timing as the song goes. Anyways she moved to the other side of the country and is married to a great guy and has 4 children. But this song always brings me back to the day Ithat I knew i was in love with her. That night, we took my car and drove on down to the beaches, but instead of writing her name in the sand, I wrote it on the dust of my car lol...ButI did it thinking of this song.
Jim called it 'the violin' and it might have been when she started the solo but by the end that girl was playing "the fiddle" ...anyway thats my favorite Blue Rodeo song all time!
Wow. I never thought I'd see a viola played like that! (I haven't touched mine for over 45 years.) Great performance all around. I've always been intrigued by what I heard on Blue Rodeo's live album _Just Like a Vacation_ . This tune has very interesting instrumentation there.
