My older brother was captain of a merchant ship in the English channel making passage to the Mediterranean when a rescue helicopter called him up and asked if he would help with some training and he obliged. My brother filmed the whole exercise, the helicopter put down a couple crew members on the hatches, circled a couple of times then came back and lifted them off again, the pilot thanked my brother, he then replied 'no problem, any chance of a fly by?' There was a pause the the reply 'one fly by coming up!'. They flew head on towards the bridge then pulled up, fantastic spectacle!!! When I asked my brother for his thoughts on the video, he replied ' you never know when you might need these guys so if they need help with training, just do it!!'. I remember traveling to Salisbury Plain army base listening to Jim on the coach radio making us all laugh and that was 35ish years ago and would of never of thought I would be watching him all this time later on something called You-Tube. This video brought back good memories and I feel humbled and really spiritual lifted, not sure how to explain the correct feeling but thank you Jim and lovely boat.

Had an old 30 ft boat for years after coming out of the army and with two children , after they had gone their own way and then i divorced their mother and enjoyed the boat ,diving and generally just enjoying my time with my boat and very often with my old army diving buddy its so good to see you enjoying your time with your boat after you have worked so hard and done so much for us sguadie s , Jim you enjoy it mate because you've bloody well earned it, good luck to you now and in the future.

Wow, what a stunning boat! Nearest thing I've come to experiencing that was a week on the Norfolk Broads with my family on 2 large river cruisers. Such a fun, relaxing holiday but once you get back on dry land it doesn't half feel odd with your feet on solid ground, no more being gently rocked to sleep at night. Appreciated the drone footage as a drone pilot myself. Enjoyed watching.👍

I find the best parts of boating are the arrivals and departures, a bit like flying, takeoffs and landings 🤷‍♂️ Although I will own up right now and say, I do not own a boat, my only experience is with a 64’ Dutch barge on the French canal system but, the principals apply. Be convenient, approach as slow as possible but, at a speed that gives you full control. However, I do agree with you Jim, if you’ve got thrusters, then pigging well use them, after all, there are too many forces at play so, don’t risk bending your boat - don’t bend ya boat 😉 All the best Jim

As a yachtie I just wanted to correct your comment amount " Yachts never wave " We generally wave at each other but not at motors boats because the skippers are inside so not visible and they go past so fast!! Deck fluff don't count because they are too busy being deck fluff!! Slowing down was for sure the seamanlike thing to do, something I wish motor boat owners here in SE Spain would adopt!

Some people may look at the boat and be jealous but they fail to see the years of hard work that the boat represents. My boat is probably worth less than 2% of this boat but I don't begrudge him for one minute.

This brings back good memories,i was asked to crew on a fairline 55 from the Humble to Essex marina on the Crouch left leagh on sea at 6am train to london then train to southamton taxi to humble,it took nearly an hour get fuel in the Humble god knows how much it cost,came out in the Solent turned left gave it the gun went though the gap you talked about (two bouys) arrived at Essex Marina about 10/30 great day enjoyed every min one off my Bucket list ,
